Huron Base has a name synonymous with power and intimidation. He’s made no apologies for doing what’s been necessary to survive a life rooted in poverty and pain. Kamari is a recognizable force in her field-one that keeps her too enmeshed in the circles of law enforcement that Huron’s associates strive to avoid. Huron knows that Kam doesn’t care who he was, only who he is- the man she loves. Still, he won’t allow that to blind him to what has to be done-the steps that must be taken to keep the woman he loves from becoming a casualty in a war between new enemies.

    As always, Altonya wrote the hell out this book! I read Layers years ago when I first started reading Altonya's books and always felt that there was a lot more to this story. I am always impressed by her level of writing, the depth she takes the reader to bring to story to you. This Tory was so deep with a lot of twist and turns, secrets, sex and lov. I highly recommend this book it's real page turner with a little of everything. I loved this story from beginning to end and I had to finish it this morning at 4 am since the suspense was killing me. Altonya you did it! You deserve a platinum star for the Ramsey/Tessano, Taboo Tree, this book and all others you have written or plan to write! Love your stories!

    Oh this flawed, damaged, beautiful couple. They have such a strong and deep love for each other, even while being in denial with themselves. Everyone around them weren't fooled, they could see how much they loved each other. With so many secrets between the two of them, and their constant battle to not let them be know kept them from fully being together. Finally getting it together and letting their feelings for one another be known only brought this sexy, loving couple closer together. With all the drama unfolding around them, they needed to be able to rely on each other. Fantastic follow up to Layers, one of my favorite books by Mrs. Washington. I didn't think she could make Huron any sexier or exciting than she did in the first book but I was very happily mistaken.
