4.1 out of 5 stars 1,951 ratings

Can a lonely wallflower and a future viscount find a second chance at love?

A surprise proposal…
Olivia Kingsley didn’t expect to be swept off her feet by a marriage proposal two weeks into her first London Season. However, one delicious dance with Allen Wimpleton, and her future is sealed. Or so she thinks until her eccentric father suddenly announces he’s moving the family to the Caribbean for a year.

A reckless decision…
Allen tries to convince the lovely Olivia to elope with him but when she hesitates, he gives her an ultimatum—marriage or her family. Torn between loyalty and love, Olivia declines and departs England, convinced that Allen’s ardent declaration was a superficial one. Meanwhile, Allen believes that Oliva was merely toying with his heart. Three years later, after mourning the death of her father, Olivia returns to London and comes face to face with the man she never thought she’d ever see again. Can a fragile hope for a loving future heal the bitter heartbreak of the past?

Dearest Reader!

A KISS FOR A ROGUE was my first attempt at a shorter book, but it wasn't my last. I loved packing a tale into fewer, fast-paced pages. The type of book perfect for a day at the beach or a stolen couple of hours by yourself!

If you've read my other books, you'll recognize several characters--almost like relatives coming for a visit.

Stay tuned for Olivia's brother Bradford's short story!

xoxo
Collette

A KISS FOR A ROGUE aka A KISS FOR MISS KINGSLEY by Collette Cameron (A Novella)
Note: It looks like I own an older edition of this story which was originally published in 2014 and titled A KISS FOR MISS KINGSLEY. It seems that even the series underwent a name change and what was then "A Waltz with a Rogue" is now officially "The Honorable Rogues" series. This story also appears in the following ebook anthologies (and possibly others that I'm just not aware of) that you may already own a copy of so please check your kindle library for them: EMBRACED BY A ROGUE (currently available in print only) ROMANTIC LEGENDS (no longer available) WHEN A LORD LOVES A LADY (A Waltz with a Rogue Collection 1-5 - currently available in print only) and THE HONORABLE ROGUES COLLECTION BOOKS 1-3, which is still available in both ebook and print. Synopsis: After a three year separation, Olivia Kingsley and Allen Wimpleton meet once again. Can they overcome their pasts and old wounds to find love once more? Setting: London, England, 1818 First of all I want to say this edition is full of typos and other mistakes so if you can get the updated version I'd definitely recommend doing so. Hopefully the misspellings and other editing issues will not be so abundant and distracting like they were here. Besides that this story was short and sweet but just didn't have enough substance or character development to ever really pull me in. And while I liked Olivia immensely, Allen on the other hand not so much. Other than brief flashbacks to the end of their relationship three years earlier, the entire story takes place in a matter of hours (except for the epilogue 3 or 4 months later) which didn't work for me. The entire tale was rushed and at the end these two still felt like the strangers they were when I started the story. However, I did like most of the cast including Olivia, her brother, and her Aunt. It was also a pretty clean read with kisses only besides a bit of fondling. There is some moderate language however, just so you know. I usually love second chance romances but this one was just okay. I do like the author's writing though and I'm actually looking forward to reading the other books in this series which are a little longer so I'm hoping will have more depth to them. Length: The version I read ended at the 76% mark on page 110 and location 1189.

This is a great novella about the success of second chances with love. Collette Cameron has written a perfect novella which contains romance, heartbreak, regaining love, and emotional fulfillment. Although it is a novella nothing is left out of the story and the reader finishes the book feeling very satisfied.

Olivia Kingsley, after living away for three years, returns to England. She accepts an invitation to a ball being held at her ex-fiance parent’s home. She has no idea of her reception and expects to be given the direct cut from the hero.

Three years ago she choose moving to the Caribbean with her ill father after Allen Wimpleton’s demand that she make a choice, him or her father. She met and fell in love with Allen within two weeks into her first season. Although she loved him very much she knew her father needed and depended on her.

The hero, Allen Wimpleton, fell in love with Olivia during one dance, and who also doesn’t know about her father’s ill health, demands that Olivia not go with her father and forces her to choose between him and her father. Only knowing him for a short time, what else can she do? Olivia chooses to go with her father. But one year turns into three years and her father passes away. Olivia then returns to England and soon runs in to Allen, and realizes she still loves him and wants to regain his love.

This is a fun one sitting doesn’t take to much time to read. I highly recommend this book and author to anyone who enjoys reading historical romance.

Any book by this author makes me feel like it is Christmas. I savor every page and fall in love all over again. This is about love that was lost and a swift journey, in a few hours at a Ball that leads to HEA.

Even though is a novella, this author is so talented that she can weave a story in a few pages where other author's it takes them hundreds of pages and you still don't have a connection.

This is a clean romance, he talks about his breeches being to tight, but other than that, nothing to get your knickers in a knot over.

I fell in love with our H/h, and the h family. No cliffhanger either. My only wish, was for a epilogue even if it was only a few months in the future. Yes, I highly recommend this novella, and any other story by this author. (ljb)

5.0 out of 5 stars "God's toenails, what was I thinking, agreeing to Auntie Muriel's addlepated scheme?"

A Kiss For Miss Kingsley by: Collette Cameron

I enjoyed this and I was had at "God's toenails, what was I thinking, agreeing to Auntie Muriel's addlepated scheme?" As I have said before I really like that the author adds characters from other books to keep plot and time line going only I had 1 issue - I know it is a short story only its TOO SHORT!..lol!, but authors only have so many pages to develop, hook us and then please us with a HEA.

The basics is Olivia, her brother and aunt arrive at a party given by her old flame, Allen's, parents, the Viscount and Viscountess Wimpleton. Three years before, they met, fell in love but within two weeks of knowing each other her father takes her and her brother out of England to Barbados. Allen had wanted them to elope but she couldn't leave her ill father and asked him to wait one year as she would return then. He being the a bit spoiled callow youth felt she didn't love him enough to choose him so they part...She to sail with her father two days later, he to drown his wounds we suppose in private, damming young love.

    Three years later.....

Olivia's small party is announced and as she walks in she sees him across the crowded floor with a girl unknown to herl, all over him. Trying not to hear the whispers behind fluttering fans and gloved hands they cross the room towards some wallflower seating. Her aunt sees a friend and goes to chat while Olivia sits along the edge of the dance floor with her brother standing guard over her. Allen tries not to notice her but the hussy hanging on his arm, Miss Rossington (We meet her in a few other books) being catty and snide in berating Olivia within his hearing; someone she doesn't know, and acting too possessive of him finally "twerks him off' and he goes and asks Olivia to dance. He is angry and sullen and thinks she should be gracious and apologetic to him so he awaits her speaking up first. Olivia though hopes that maybe there might be a spark still between them and Allen has asked her to dance because he wants to renew what they once shared. They are both disappointed.

Olivia, remembering all her mama's 'ladies rules in the Ton' sees that Allen is only dancing with her to show the gossips that there was nothing between them. Only Allen really is still infatuated with Olivia and drags her out to the terrace to have it out with her. They do set on each other with some straight talking about the past and realize and admit that they do still care about each other. They will now do it right and become engaged with the permission of Olivia's brother who has not been that far away keeping a decorous eye on them all the while. That wannabe light-skirt Miss Rossington comes looking for Allen and hears she is again thwarted in landing a lord-ling (info from previous books) flounces away is a temper while the lovers make up for lost time not caring who is watching as he gives 'A Kiss For Miss Kingsley'

IMO I recommend this and all of Collette Cameron's books. They are a delight to read with out showing every tattoo on the characters behind nor hearing what new word they learned while visiting the ship dock yards or a Covent Garden tavern.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author for a honest review and was in no way compensated.

I really enjoyed the description of the ball, especially the ton’s reaction to the arrival of Olivia and her family. Allen is determined to remain angry at Olivia for leaving with her family three years before. Olivia wants to find out if they will ever be able to forget the past and seek true love again. Who will win out in the end? This book was so enjoyable that I will be recommending it to family and friends. Can’t wait to read more in this Rogue series.
