Spying Eyes Kindle Edition
It happened to Ann three times in her life, well really twice, but the third was close. Three strikes and you’re out right? Ann is an indie writer. She never dreamed people would actually read her books and want more. Two series in, she’s lost her belief that she is worth anything to anyone but her family. Harsh words from a man she loved reinforces that belief. Who would want a woman destined for a wheelchair?
Nick and Memo lost the closest family they had within a year of each other. They grew into their manhood disconnected and never knew unconditional until they meet Ann who only does ‘all in.’ Watching her exes stroll through her life, at the worst possible moments, trying for a second chance, isn’t easy.
Can they prove their love for her is the unconditional she craves and not lines from one of her books?
Can they do this while protecting her and her family from the stalker that will do anything to own his very own Ann?

About the author

L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world’s wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference.
The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly. That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their towns and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal.
L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers.
With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud. Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels.
Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2016I loved this story. Clever of L Ann Marie in writing a fictionalized story about herself. I loved the references to her various books and characters I am sure there is some fact based in the fiction, and it's fun wondering what parts are true. I'm hoping it's her handsome sheriff and Indian deputy. I loved Nick and Memo.
The things that happen to Ann are crazy. Life can sure be stranger than fiction, so I enjoyed the ride. I loved Ann too, a roll with it kind of women who loves easily and hard, but never seemed to get it in return.
INever figured out why her ex, cousin, and whoever Memo killed in the green car, was it Richard,?, were after Ann. Maybe there will be another book were those questions will be answered.
Her daughter and grandson's were cute, while her youngest son is mentioned, he never shows up. What happened to David who comes to Sunday dinner?
Ann's ex's and inspirations for Pres and Jamie, Brian and James, aren't the most likeable men the were interesting. I wonder what James does that he didn't just call and let her know she was in danger, and who was his partner. I was happy that Ann was able to speak her mind to both of them.
Hope there will be another story and can meet some more of her fictionalized inspirations for the Baxter, MC and Princes characters and wonder what is fact or fiction.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2020I thought it was great! I liked the concept. I don’t know why I never read this one but I liked how it kind of made fun of how an author in particular this author writes her books...but she keeps saying they are not based off her life. They may have a little of her in her books but they are not her...I love Ms. Marie’s books and have read them all and re-read them and recommend them all. I do love that she promotes strong women and men treating women with respect. She has such an interesting and spellbounding way of weaving a story that can last through so many storylines...I love it so much!! Kudos! I really and truly highly recommend this author and series! All of them!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2016Also very good. I have read this book a couple of times and the same as the Baxter series. Josephine

- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2021I'm glad to be read In L Ann Marie's books again. I have read all of her nooks, up to the public last 3 and have no idea how I missed this.
I am not sure if this book answered any questions I had about her but I think I understand her books better now
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2016I am a fan of L. Ann Marie's work, but this wasn't my favorite. Quite honestly I found it to be more than a little self-indulgent. 'Ann' is the writer of the Baxter and MC series, but I'm expected to believe this book isn't autobiographical? So Ann is perfect - smart, sexy, can do anything if you just give her 30 seconds. She can do no wrong and everyone loves her - to the point that she has multiple stalkers. That's fine if you are writing fiction, but there is no way to honestly believe that L isn't writing about herself. So she basically wrote a book telling everyone how amazing she is. If she had written the exact same book but not about her own series, it would have been fine, but to write a book about the writer of your own books is not only awkward, but egotistical. I can't wait to get back to the MC series.

I love the writing of L.Ann Marie. This book was amazing. It takes you on an emotional journey where Heart and Love of Family suck you right into the story. I hope this means the start of another series from Ms. Marie.

5.0 out of 5 stars HARD TO DIVORCE THE TWO WOMEN BUT AS WELL PLOTTED, PEOPLED & WRITTEN AS EVER
I have been a huge fan of Ms Marie's since I read my first MC book, KNIGHT. Way before the children arrived and began growing up. Long before the Native Indian connection popped up and began leading the MC into a different realm, in fact I was amazed to realise that I've read 25 of her books. That's almost all of them, so I know all the 'Characters' and having read all 25 numerous times, their 'Characteristics', I've also come to grips with her sometimes 'Staccato' character dialogue; and her way of presenting the storyline as though a vital scene or conversation had already taken place but we then get it in flashback or memory form. It's fairly clear though that I don't find these to be an issue in the books, mainly because I LOVE the fantasy world she's created. The men, the women, the children, the positivity and sensitivity of a world where no-one is selfish. Everyone cares for and works hard for the well-being and protection of their family, friends, colleagues, and onward and outward like the ripples of a lake.
The reason I say all that is so that you'll understand what I mean when I say that despite being well-versed in her literary life and having enjoyed the privilege of exchanging emails and even helping with proof reading a couple of the books, I know that the MC despite my most fervent longing isn't real - None of it. I know that Lori (Ms L in the name) IS real and has a life with a family that is fully Private as is her right. The world of Spying Eyes is about a woman who goes through life looking for Love (with a deliberate Capital L) and is failed again and again by the men she lets close to her, but who let her down in any number of ways, and begins to write a fantasy life that eventually becomes successful enough to support her; our fantasy author "Ann" has created an MC that is the actual MC our Ann wrote. She had a Street team that is a group of women, some of whom are writers too, who meet up and share stories, gossip and support for each other promoting their books, An SOS team "Sharing Our Strong". So far - so almost autobiographical, and that's where I found the most difficulty reading this story. The brothers she meets at her final destination aren't 'Bikers' in the belonging to a club sense, though they both ride bikes. The author Ann is becoming increasingly crippled by Arthritis a theme that many of us can relate to, if not with the precise ailment then with SOME kind that leaves us physically impaired & hating it. And lives with her Daughter & Son-in-law and Grandchildren whose care she is very much involved in. The two boys are great, one of them is Autistic that requires them to make allowances for him, that brings a rigidity and structure to their lives I'm sure again, many of us can relate to. It's when the Ex's who failed, if not wronged her years ago, decide they want her back in their lives that the fun and games of THIS book begin. Enter stage left kidnapping, attacks on both brothers and Ann, private security and bodyguards.
Because the Characters of the real MC books and characters of a Facebook page and group that mirror the real ones are front and centre here it's difficult not to take every word as gospel. This is as much a fantasy as The Protectors teleporting all over the USA, or Prince's of Prophecy ridding the New England coastline of drugs or oil drilling. I just found it hard to remember that while this might have some parallels with her actual life, the Characters could well be perfect descriptions of people she knows or may just be a bit from one added to a drop from another, I mean all Authors rely on their own history and experiences to draw their literary world's don't they? The world in this book could be very close to the real world or have no contact at all with reality, in which case Our Ms Marie has taken her talent from New England to New Mexico, swapped Bikers for Lawmen, but built the base for another continuing series with some solid, and some extrovert characters, although there's been no direct lobbying of issues yet, we do have the Autistic Brad along with the Arthritis of the "Author" Ann and the introduction of a Transgender character in the person of Alexis, the male lead's' cousin and Despatcher for the Sheriff's office.
If she decides to expand this book into a series it might be easier to divorce the literary Ann and her Facebook crew from the real-life Ann and HER Facebook Street crew. Either way I have no issues recommending it to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Written as an author by the author
Why didn't I read this sooner?? I love reading L Ann Marie's books. I have every single one of them... now. I cannot believe it took me so long to read this one. I am so glad I have. This book is about Ann, an indie writer who meets two men. This Indie author writes the Baxter and MC series! The correlation between all the books is awesome. Part of you wonders if this is the authors biography. It is so well written. This is a must read. Im not going to divulge anything else but tell you.. BUY THIS BOOK!
