Rhapsody in Paris (LaCasse Series Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 26 ratings

This couldn’t be happening to her. A fall on the track where she runs every day, a chance meeting with the most handsome stranger she’s ever seen, and Franchesca LaCasse, an accomplished biochemist, usually able to handle any situation, finds herself hungering for the stranger’s touch, as he gently caresses her face to determine the extent of her injury. With each touch of his hand, he draws her like a moth to flame.

“Look at you,” he whispered, his accent thick and gravelly, the thickest she’d ever heard it.

Damon Dumont comes to an abrupt stop to avoid running over the woman lying in his path on the track; he can’t just walk away. She is not moving. He turns her over to check for a pulse and is not prepared for the unusual beauty of the woman. Everything about her fascinates him, her gorgeous eyes, and the pièce de résistance, her beautiful head of hair—flaming red, his weakness. He calls for the paramedics, and when they arrive decides to accompany her to the hospital. In this moment of near crisis, a spark has been struck and neither can escape the sensual fire that threatens to consume them as they surrender to passion’s embrace.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Well, well, well. I finally found it; an indie that can write! This author's style of writing is everything I wish other writers could be. (This book GLOWS)
I take this time to comment mostly on the skill of the author because I see so many reviews that regurgitate plot and/or pan the author's skill. Yes, of course the plot is good. But I believe this author could write about a turnip picking contest and the writing would be enthralling.
Do yourself a special favor. Introduce yourself to this fine writer's work. You will not be disappointed.

Well, well, well. I finally found it; an indie that can write! This author's style of writing is everything I wish other writers could be. Yes...it's nice to have different styles, but not when the book suffers. (This book GLOWS) Many authors mistake their style for professonlism when it is merely the forced words of ineptitude. Anything by Amanda Hocking and the author of the Twilight series come to mind. (Ms Hocking started out as an indie.)

But this author clearly is well read herself and has deveolped the knack it takes to truely engaged the reader. She doesn't jump from scene to scene telling the story. She shows us as she glides beautifully with complete discriptions of what the characters are doing and the reactions to why. I don't see plot holes or missteps, editing errors or grammer inaccuracies. I see only a glorious writer that wants to share her characters as they fully enjoy themselves. I feel it from her crafted words. And I say crafted because I can feel the time she took to emerse herself in her story instead of throwing word on paper for me to read. .

I take this time to comment mostly on the skill of the author because I see so many reviews that regurgitate plot and/or pan the author's skill. Yes, of course the plot is good. But I believe this author could write about a turnip picking contest and the writing would be enthralling.

Ju Ephraime has done a splendid job of making me feel like I just traveled across the ocean and met Franchesca and Damon. These characters are so real and interesting that I couldn’t put the book down. I needed to know more.

Damon is hot and, understandably, Franchesca is unable to resist him. The chemistry between the two is so real you feel as though you are falling in love with them yourself.

There are many authors out there who write stories that are "good". This one is fabulous.

Beautifully written and a pleasure to read. Bravo and kudos to Ju Ephraime.

Awww, wow. Damon <3... So I like the book, it was a quick read, I liked the main character which has been hard to do for a lot of the books I have read lately , The characters seemed real, and I loved her job. So different to the cliched waitress job women have in romance novels.
A lot of drama, and uhh... heat ;) Good series and good writing style :)

    Rhapsody in Paris

    By Ju Ephraime

Last of the LaCasse series of hot, passionate French men

Dr. Francesca, the new and youngest biochemist at her new job feels pressed each day to prove herself. This day her gut tells her will be a good one. Her four brothers had toughened her up. And her friend and coworker, Marcella, gave her support. They did have great jobs, finding drugs to treat rare medical conditions, which fills her with a sense of pride.

However, on this day, her gut is wrong; while sprinting on her company's outdoor track, she sprawls flat on her face, directly in the path of Damon, who is also out for a run. Damon sees her fall, and rushes over to offer his help. Francesca is out cold, she comes to and finds herself gazing into the unusual eyes of a gorgeous hunk of a man -- he is huge. The hand touching her face covers it completely.

Still in a state of shock, she's surprised to hear him giving her orders to stay put, and even more surprised to find herself going along with him, as he takes charge and calls an ambulance. She keeps going in and out of consciousness from the excruciating pain she's experiencing in her foot. The only thing that makes the pain bearable is listening to his sexy English ascent and feeling his hand roaming over her as he checks her for broken bones. Her body reacts to him in a way she's never experienced before. Turns out Damon's feelings mirror hers, and he invites her to recuperate at one of his mansions close to the hospital where he had accompanied her.

After she is released from the hospital, and moves into his home, the spark between them turns into a flame as Damon and Francesca heat up the pages of this sizzling romance, leaving the reader reaching for a cool drink.

Ju Ephraime has again written a romantic love story in the way only she can, never disappointing her fans. Readers who enjoy sizzling romantic novels will want to read this book quickly before the sexual passion bursts into flames.

In the beginning, we meet Franchesca, a female pharmacist working for a company called Orange Europe, based in Nice, France...one of the Cecordati Companies. The company does cutting-edge research in new drugs. On a running track provided for the company, she faints on the track and is saved by a fellow runner, Damon, who turns out to be in business with Josh Turbine the head of Orange Europe. Franchesca hurt her foot in the running accident and Damon convinces her that she must regain her health by staying at his home where his household staff can take care of her. He is a very wealthy man.
A romance begins...with Nice and Paris as the background. The author is well read with a wonderful knowledge of various places in France. The book would make a great movie. Beginning in Nice, the writer shows us the glorious feeling of being in love in France...a feeling that I, the reviewer have been privileged to have experienced. The writer made me feel as if I were in love, and walking the streets of Paris once again! Five stars and two thumbs up! (Review by Howard Lipman--pen name PanOrpheus, author of the 'Delphic Oracle' and 'Tesla's Tower series' of alternate-history fantasy books).

5.0 out of 5 stars Sizzling Bedroom Scenes
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 1, 2014
I love Ms. Ephraime's books. She has a unique style and her bedroom scenes sizzle. The story of Damon and Franchesca is a perfect example of how true love can be found in the most unexpected places. They meet after Franchesca falls flat on her face in front of him, and when he stops to help her, just like that the love juices begin to flow. Damon is handsome and rich, and Franchesca is beautiful and smart. When these two strong personalities come together it's like the fourth of July, and like the fourth of July, the fireworks almost go out when Franchesca finds out Damon had a secret which he has been keeping from her. I was on pins and needles wondering what the secret was, then when it was revealed, I wondered if it could be true. The author keeps the heat and the suspense going almost to the very end. What a rush!
