- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2019Robert Thornhill has a knack for telling stories that intertwine with life and serious issues. What he does with these issues is add his innate humor and spin on them to make them easier to digest.
This book dealt with the issues of serial killers, human trafficking and child molesters. The main character, Walt Williams, is once again on the side of justice but must cross over to put the perpetrators away with the help of a woman known as the Black Widow.
Walt with the help of his sidekicks, and his wife, Maggie, find themselves in all kinds of trouble. But where there is a will there is a way and Walt coming out on top with a few extra bruises for his trouble.
This was another enjoyable and quick read that I would recommend for all who enjoy mysteries with a twist and a dollop of humor thrown in.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2019I have been a fan of the Series for a long time now and as with all the other books I really enjoyed it. The book moved at a quick pace and had a lot going on, I have to be honest though I was a little bit disappointed at the abrupt and sad ending, and I also missed the whole motley crew. As usual the Author incorporates what is going on in the world into his books, which makes for some interesting reading. Can't wait to see what will happens next.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2018The inimitable geriatric gumshoe pair Walt and Kevin are always up to some trick or the other. This time Walt ends up collaborating with the Black Widow whose personal identity is well hidden. The results are phenomenal and a huge relief to the police as well.
The way the events are interwoven, the strange rapport that develops between the Black Widow and the senior " retired " PI pair can be thoroughly enjoyed when the book is read.
The reader is disappointed when the book as it happens when good things to an end! The taut story, the winsome characters along with humorous anecdotes makes this book an enchanting read!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2018Robert how do you do it. One book after another and all different and very informative and interesting. In this book gumshoe Walt Williams and his gang go after and kind of team up with a female serial killer known as the black widow. I that this was a great book with a little different take on Walt's personal ideals. Once again George Kuch does a wonderful job of narrating this book. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2018This was an interesting murder mystery. It's given from the viewpoint of the serial killer who called herself the Black Widow. I received this story for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4* rating. I thought it was a little different by being from the killer's point of view and a private detective's point of view. It took a while to realize it was jumping back and forth between the two. It disturbed me a little bit how little remorse she had. The ending was a bit shocking as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2019Robert Thornhill has put done himself with this one! Walt, our hero, has been thrust once again deeply into a very serious subject. One of the cool aspect of these 38 books, besides taking place in Kansas City, we are presented with positive and negative, we get to make up our minds who's guilty, yet are they really? Do the means justify the methods? Our Walt in every audible presentation is again outstanding, George Kuch!!! Another one of my favorite aspects is always a serious, current matter, with a well-defined dose of humor. This one is, in my honest opinion, BEST of books I've read or listened to. Buy, enjoy, review!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2018(Originally posted on Audible.com) The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review. I'm terrified of spiders so I really don't like this cover. If I wasn't so fond of the series I might have skipped this one since I would have assumed that it was about real spiders. I'm so glad I didn't. While spiders are mentioned that is NOT what the book is about. Black Widows are also women that kill men which of course I knew. There wasn't anything in this book that caused me to shiver in terror. But, as usual, there were lots of hijinks and some funny moments. I can't wait for the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2018I think most people on occasion has had a passing thought of making a criminal pay for his deeds outside the court system. In this story Jan takes it a step further and actually exacts revenge on men who hurt women (assault, murder, etc) by killing the bad guys. She becomes the Black Widow serial killer. Very interesting and entertaining story. Glad it is fiction though. As bad as our court system is, we can't take the law into our own hands. Nothing wrong with fantasizing about it though. Ended a bit abruptly unfortunately. Would have been nice to have a better ending.
