Maiden in Manhattan: A Time Travel Romance (A Timeless Love Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 411 ratings

How far would you go to find your soul mate?

Scottish maiden Isobeille Aislinn McKenna isn't like the other lasses. She is curious about the world around her and wants more than a life of servitude and obeisance. When her abusive father arranges her marriage in order to pay his debts, she prays for divine intervention.

Her prayers are answered, and Isobeille suddenly finds herself six hundred years in the future - directly in the path of a bus in the heart of one of the busiest cities on the East Coast.

Reluctant do-gooder Nick Peterson is there to tackle her out of its path, but he's not happy about it. He's already on the outs with his girlfriend and running very late for a date that he's hoping will get things back on track.

Both his conscience and his protective instincts kick in in a big way when he realizes Isobeille has nowhere else to go. Nick fights the sudden and instant attraction he has for the sweet and docile Isobeille, but does he really stand a chance against Fate?

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Maiden in Manhattan (originally published as Lost in Time I) is the first of a two-part series; however, both books can be read as stand-alones and in any order.
The premise behind the series is based in Newton's third law, which claims that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  In Book 1, Isobeille Aislinn McKenna comes forward 600 years in time from 15th century Scotland to 21st century New York.
Warning:  Due to occasional strong language and steamy scenes, this book is intended for mature (18+) readers only.

Time travel romances are hard to find and this one is a gem. It's shorter than I would've liked, (184 pages) but not so short the whole story isn't told. The storytelling is wonderful, no editing problems, character development is wonderful. This is an 18+ book due to language, so if you have problems with the F word you will not like this book. There is only one sex scene, and it's done just at the right time. I've read way more graphic scenes than this one but it was perfect for the story. I'll be thinking about these characters for a while. I highly recommend it, and I'll be reading more from this author.

I'm a sucker for time travel books but this one is hardly that. It is more of a Cinderella and Prince Charming story with the hero saving the heroine and I would place it firmly in the fantasy genre. I liked the story. It had tension and a fairy tale ending. No violence and only a little sex.

This is about a Scottish girl in the 1600s who wishes to have more freedom than she is allowed by her drunken father. Her wish is granted and she is transported right into downtown Manhattan in the 21st century. A young EMT helps her. There is a HEA in this book that makes it very satisfying. Very believable characters and good story.

I loved your story .I found it very enjoyable . As soon as I finish this review I am onto book two. When reading a well written book that makes you feel as if you are there, that's what I class as a "Mind Movie"! Please keep them coming! The characters were delightfully real. Thank you sincerely! A new fan 😊

I read book two before this one. I enjoyed it more than this one although both were well written and had interesting characters. My single flaw with this one is that in 1400 women did not read and write. When she came to 2014, no mention was made of her learning, yet she instantly began getting on the internet and later working. Now it's only a story....and this does not take away from the well developed characters and the storyline...it's good.

This was a "cute" story, but completely predictable.
Furthermore, the dialogue had too much raunchy language for this reader's taste.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice story enjoyable but could have been more
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 19, 2014
A lovely quick read don't get me wrong but more could have been made of the Gloria and Ian character's as Ian was loaded, lovely, attractive guy who could have been a real love rival to the Nick character. Whereas Gloria could have been more of a rival by trying to keep Nick but then I suppose the book would have been 100 pages longer. Enjoyable read though only took a couple of hours worth reading for free but I won't be paying for the next one.
