Book 2 in the Southern Heartbeats series is Aliza and Holt's story. It continues from Stand when things go horribly wrong for Aliza and her family. Dealing for the aftermath she struggles to move on with her life. This book had me crying and cheering Aliza on. Both characters had amazing chemistry and had some hot steamy scenes. The story keeps you wanting to read more to see if she gets her happy ending.

Rating: 4 stars!!
I was looking forward to this book since I read book one and was introduced to these characters! Holt has had feelings for Liz for years, ever since they met in a college bar.
When Liz's life is thrown into chaos when Sam and and their two young daughters are killed in a tragic car accident, she becomes lost in her grief. Holt is there for Liz and the spark they both feel evolves.
Holt falls for Liz but when she won't change he pattern they find themselves in he decides that maybe love isn't enough to keep getting his heart broken. When life gives Liz and Holt another shocking and sad surprise they need to band together to get through it. Is their love enough for Liz to fight for? Will Holt keeping giving Liz his heart after its all said and done?
I did like this book, and like the first book it was fast paced and grabbed my attention! I laughed and cried and got really frustrated while reading this book. I loved the premise of this book but I was frustrated and it felt a little unreal how fast Liz dealt with her significant loss. I know grief is different for everyone but it seemed way to fast to be real.
Liz's friend Hannah was hardly mentioned, and I wish we had gotten more about her, especially because she changed Holt and Liz's lives.
While at times I was frosted with this book I did love it and the writing. The characters where like-able and it grabs my attention. I can't wait for Katy's story!!!
Book recommended!!!

- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2017Jennifer Rebecca definitely knows how to pull at the heartstrings.
Reading about such love and loss really makes you appreciate what you have.
Holt may have been friend zoned in the past, but reading the steam on the pages pulls him way out of that pesky land.
What a beautiful story. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, and I'm pretty sure I now need to get a cat named Diablo!
5 big stars for Whiskey Lullabye!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2017Jen did such a good job capturing the emotions and realities of Aliza's story. I really liked Stand but love Whiskey Lullabye! It had me laughing, crying and surprised as the story unfolded. A good romantic read with a great story line! Looking forward to volume 3!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2017Whiskey Lullabye is the story of Holt, the sheriff of Tall Pines and Aliza, the woman he has been in love with but stayed away from for sixteen years because his best friend claimed her first.
** 3.5**
This is a difficult review to write because I did not dislike this book, in fact it's plotline is solid and the characters completely interesting. The plot itself revolves around Aliza coming to terms with her grief after losing her husband and 2 daughters to a car accident. As anyone would, she deals with her pain and sadness the only way she can. Holt is torn between helping his friend and claiming the woman he has loved for so long. The way Ms. Rebecca has them shying from yet giving into their urges as well as coming together is bittersweet and heartbreaking.
For me the issue with Whiskey Lullabye is this, the flow of the story reads disjointed. There are times, scenes that made me question if I were missing something. As if I *should* have read a book previously to get what the characters were talking about. Other times, it seems as if the author had more scenes in the book and removed or shortened them, making the reader miss essential parts.
As with all books, how one sees it is subjective so other readers may not get the feeling I do. Over all, this is a good read with fantastic storyline that needs a bit of polish to make it shine.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2017I enjoyed this book. This was about moving on and knowing that you can love more than once. Holt has always loved her and proves it when she needs him the most.
