Editorial Reviews
Review
This book has the power to make you laugh, cry and ache through a character-driven plot and emotion-focused storytelling. Ultimately though, it leaves the reader with a sense of satisfaction, not just with the plot but quite possibly with their own past as well. - Review by Book Excellence (bookexcellence.com)

About the author

As a child, I was mesmerized by story tellers and my mother always made sure I had a supply of books close at hand while I was growing up. Sitting on her lap and listening to her read to me is one of my earliest memories. I remember drawing pictures and then making up stories to go with them, and as I got older, my stories became longer and more fanciful. At age ten, I began to write them down, and when I was twelve, I wrote my first "book," all handwritten. I wrote during rainy days in gym class when we all had to stay in the locker room and sit on benches. I had a small cult following of friends who waited for me to finish each page which I would then pass down the row. When I got a typewriter for my thirteenth birthday, I typed up my "masterpiece" and put it in a 3-ring binder then hid it away. The story was actually quite silly. Having a typewriter, however, made it possible for me to write even more, which I did on almost a daily basis.
But, as happens to many young, aspiring writers, reality grabbed me and when I graduated from high school and headed to college then into the work force, the dream of becoming an author washed away. It wasn't until I turned 62 and experienced my 3rd job layoff, that I decided to try and make my writing dream come true.
Writing has become an addiction to me, and I'm finding that ideas for other scenarios and characters keep flooding my brain, with the characters screaming, "Write about me! Write about me!"
And, that's what I intend to do.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2015Linda does a beautiful job of establishing continuity in her second installment of this thoroughly enchanting series. "The most famous band of all time" is on its way up in the "Brighton" music scene, in preparation for stepping onto the world stage. Our lovely friend Susan, a character whom I have grown to love, finds herself back in the arms of James, and well... they find themselves back in a lot of each other's body parts too. I'm not being flip... I think the sensuality of these two characters is explored more completely in this second book, which makes sense, since within the context of the story, both are a bit older and more experienced. We also see a side of James that veers uncomfortably close to abusiveness, and the fact that Linda chooses not to gloss over that aspect of James' persona adds a greater depth and additional facets to the story. Having a new friend, John, along for the ride lets us see how Susan interacts with other characters, and how she changes his life as well. We also get the unexpected treat of Susan popping in on the Ted Flannagan Show (a neat analog of the Ed Sullivan Show) in February, 1964, where she meets James once again, and we get to experience that feeling of wonder, promise and excitement all over again within the second book's structure. Thank you for keeping this story going for us and looking forward to more!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2015A little better all the time. It can't get no worse! ... or can it? ROLL UP! the windows and turn on the AC because The Magical Mystery Tour continues! This time Susan has another ticket to ride and just when she thought she didn't care she learns that there's some loose ends that have to be tied up in regards to her relationship to James, who by now is at the beginning of his band's stardom and ever closer to world wide domination. Try as she may, Susan just can't get enough of James.. and nor will you when you read this second installment of one of the hottest Trilogies (so far?) of this genre i've ever tied myself down to read. Truth be told i'm usually not the "romantic novel" fan but this one grips you, holds you tight, and won't let go! I read her first book in the series in a day and this one i read just as quickly (if not quicker- kept me up nearly all night-I'M SO TIRED!) This is an intense page turner that will turn you on. Unless you're freakin' DEAD- but if you're alive like me,.. i'm not putting you on here, you must read this! Incidentally, although it helps, you don't necessarily have to be a fan of the Band implied in this story to enjoy this book.
by the way.. it's still hot in here!

- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2017I loved the first book "The Necklace" but book 2 was a double roller coaster ride! James was so overbearing, dominant, violent and a total ass at times that I wanted Susan to give him the boot or at least a taste of his own medicine. Then when he rescued her from his band mates violent attack he was so sweet, gentle and loving that I wanted him to stay again. But peace never reigns for very long between them and this book is a wild ride! James's father is so darling and easier to love but James is so gorgeous and charming when he wants to be. Of course with the book being time travel I was saddened at the end. But it only sent me racing to book 3. A pleasant sub story about Susan's friend John & Kiyoko was pleasant but you keep craving more of James & Susan. Very entertaining and fast paced!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2015I did not like the main character. Too immature for a lady of 68 and got irritated with her. I went to the third book but did not finish was tired of her attitude (main character) And also too much sex, I prefer not to read about it, so will probably not read anymore of Linda Rice books.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2014What a great follow up to The Necklace! Susan again goes back in time dragging along her friend John with her. He has his own issues of a long lost love to deal with. They end up going separate ways ending up in impractical situations. Great to see how the relationship between Susan and James turns out but also an interesting parallel story of John and his lost love. I think I enjoyed The Necklace II even more than the last book- but of course you have to read the first book, The Necklace to fully understand what is happening and who the characters are. As always leaving you to wonder what Susan will get up to in book 3. Read it - I think you will enjoy it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2015I thought this book was even better than the first. I was happy to see the romantic feelings that John had for Kiyoko. It seemed like a mutual respect was being established that could be followed with passion later. Maybe it's not the norm these days, but that's more like what I'm looking for in a relationship! I also found it interesting when John had a momentary shift in his behavior later on in the book, showing another dimension of his personality.
Be aware, though, that the majority of this book is pretty wild and, for me, even a little embarrassing. If you're into reading about a passionate fantasy (which, from the previous reviews, it appears many people are), you may find his book hard to put down.

reading it! This is so different than any other time travel stories I have read,
with many surprising twists and turns!
