Angel's Roar: Feathers and Fire Book 4 Kindle Edition
Callie Penrose must die…
Callie Penrose – a wizard with a splash of Angel’s blood flowing through her veins—kind of broke the Vatican and their band of Holy-warrior, wizard-priests, the Shepherds. Officially, the report stated Callie forgot to turn the other cheek, and things escalated…
She returns home to Kansas City to find new gangs of supernaturals roving the streets, preying on the innocent while the local factions do nothing. Although not unified, everyone seems to agree on one point…
Callie Penrose must die.
And she’s still hearing those strange Whispers in her mind—much more frequently than before, and not nearly as…forgiving.
But when an epic betrayal blindsides her and she discovers the truth of her birth—why Heaven and Hell have been so interested in her—Callie’s world begins to crumble, and she must decide whether she wants to be a good girl…
Or if it’s time to be a little naughty.
No matter how hard you try, you can’t make an Angel cry…
They just roar.
If you like Jim Butcher, Kevin Hearne, Steve McHugh, Michael Anderle, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Shannon Mayer, or K.F. Breene, you won't be able to put down the highly addictive Feathers and Fire Series, or anything else in the Temple Verse.

About the author

Shayne is a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery…
He writes the Amazon Bestselling Feathers and Fire Series about a rookie spell-slinger named Callie Penrose who works for the Vatican in Kansas City. Her problem? Hell seems to know more about her past than she does.
He also writes the Amazon Bestselling Nate Temple Series, which features a foul-mouthed wizard from St. Louis. He rides a bloodthirsty unicorn, drinks with Achilles, and is pals with the Four Horsemen. Both series take place in the same universe, because it’s fun.
Shayne holds two high-ranking black belts, and can be found writing in a coffee shop, cackling madly into his computer screen while pounding shots of espresso. He’s hard at work on the latest books in his shared TempleVerse, as well as a few new projects that will blow readers' mind-holes...

- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2018Angel’s Roar, the fourth book in Shayne Silvers’ series, Feathers and Fire, takes the reader down the dark path of Callie’s life; her past, present and future. Shayne continues to weave a story that expands the supernatural world in ways that only he can do. The introduction of new Freaks, including a Sphinx named Phix, adds color to the blacks and silvers that fill Callie’s life.
I love how Shayne compliments the story with seeing old faces with new twists. Asterion, the Minotaur and Midas appearance was a pleasant surprise and fun to see in a different backdrop, not to mention Darling & Dear who we aren't quite sure what type of Freak they are but always fun for sexual innuendos. But, the most fun was the scenes with Dorian Gray and Cain. These are two characters that the reader knows that they shouldn’t like but Shayne makes it impossible to not like them. The dinner scene with Cain which include a constant flow of puns will become a classic and talked about for years to come. And, as always, it is a fun ride when Callie and Nate relate to each other, in each other’s story.
It was an incredible ride with Callie, to see her evolve from being an innocent to someone with strong convictions. Someone who stands up to even her friends. Shayne has developed a character in Callie that you can love one moment and hate the next. She is surrounded by a hodgepodge supporting cast, including her best friend, a “bipolar bear” that feels good in her skin. Shayne is a great storyteller-he continues to take the reader places that we never expect.
I love Angel’s Roar-despite that at times it was difficult to read because like in real life, consequences are not always pleasant. Learning Callie’s background, from an interesting source, was an added bonus that explains a lot. If you haven’t read anything by Shayne Silvers, you are missing a brilliant author who completely captivates your senses and opens a new world on a carpet ride.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2018If you're after something that will sink its teeth in you, THIS is your story. If you're looking for a character that captivates your soul, Callie is definitely your girl. Don't even question it, just take a chance and read the series! Angel's Roar (Book) 4 is the best yet!
I really don't think Silvers knows how to let the reader down. Every book gets better. I don't even think he hit the brakes on this one. There was no slow point where it was safe to put the book down for some shut eye. To shamelessly quote the author, there is "quite literally an overabundance of epic sh*t going down". Through the whole...entire....book. My poor little black heart had a hard time keeping it's pulse under control.
Silvers has firmly secured his spot in my favorite authors list. Not only because he's such a great writer, but also because he is extremely devoted to his fan base. He is not just some random picture on the back cover of a good novel. He genuinely cares about his readers and works hard to let them know how appreciated they are. THAT, I believe, is what makes for a beloved author.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2018Silvers is continuing his trend of stability at high level plot engagement and character development through this installment, with another more introspective focus on the central protagonist, this time on more of the nature of her duality and revelations about where she came from as much as where she's going. Callie Penrose continues to impress as a hard-hitting capable protagonist, as well as a realistically torn, vulnerable woman feeling emotionally frayed and overtaxed as the story unfolds in the short term. Longer term implications are foreshadowed again with Silvers' typical style, and the book ends on a resolved but not quite satisfied with all results note.
The overlap cameo with Nate Temple is much shorter and more straightforward in this installment, again a testament to Silvers' wisdom in not letting his protagonists overwhelm eachother's books needlessly and the limited engagement he has with the story is short and sweet in the manner of highlighting more of his interrelations with Callie than it does with him affecting her book's plot. It gives the impression of them starting to settle into eachother's narratives in the manner a new couple settles into eachother's lives, putting them roughly at "having toothbrushes at eachother's houses" in this book to follow said metaphor. Pitching a proper shared universe can be difficult to manage into the longer term and Silvers shows no signs of faltering thus far.
One part that did seem to falter a bit however was the depth of one of the last fights in the story's climax, a one on one duel against one of the central antagonists. Typically Silvers has maintained a good balance of quickly paced action and descriptive narrative, but this was very much the first such fight I'd read him describing where I started to feel bored with how he constructed things. The blow to blow emphasis teetered over the edge of descriptive depth and just into over-saturation, enough that I started to feel tugged out of the immersiveness of the story just from how much effort I had to put into figuring out who was doing what and countering what from hit to hit. I am hopeful it was more on the aspect of the limited scope of the fight and location of it, rather than an oversight or misstep for the book.
Overall however the story holds up in all other aspects and the other fight scenes have a more engaging balance to follow along with. As usual I look forward to seeing where Silvers takes the story next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read
After the cataclysmic events of Whispers, Callie has to returned to Kansas City to deal with the fallout there. Kansas City has become a scarier place, with a seeming increase in Freak violence and gang activity. Callie is questioning her place in Kansas City, the Freak community and the world at large, while also having to deal with Heaven, Hell and unaligned parties either wanting her dead or to use her as a disposable pawn to their own ends.
The Free will granted to humanity is admired and despised by Angels because they don’t have it, but that doesn’t mean Angels can’t fall from Grace or remain seemingly virtuous while finding ways to subvert orders. And the denizens of Hell aren’t always as evil as advertised in the Good Book
Again, Shayne Silvers delivers an addictive read with a constant roller coaster of feels. I’d happily attend the Church of Callie regularly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shayne Silvers and Callie Penrose are back. Oh, and beware of Polar bears
Shayne Silvers and Callie Penrose are back! Once again, Shayne Silvers puts forth a great urban fantasy novel in the Templeverse. If you love Butcher, Kadrey, Hartness, you will love these books. Shayne has created an incredible universe which spans two incredible series (Callie Penrose in Feathers and Fire and Nate Temple in the Temple chronicles) and provide a depth and breadth and background canvas unlike any other series out there.
An incredibly fun and colourful read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!
Read the first three? Want to know more of Callie's backstory and origins? Get reading.
Another wild ride for the master story teller that is Shayne Silvers.
Characters develop further, obviously there are surprises, betrayals and more twists, turns and flips of allegiance than you expect - but the pace is fast and the writing draws you in so time ceases to exist.
Another great book - read it and you'll understand the cover!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read
What more can I say that has not been said, I highly recommend this book and series. A must read if you like fantasy, snarky humor, with a little bit of romance. A warning though once read you will have a uncontrollable urge to buy the rest of the series and the Nate Temple’s series as well, to see where it all began, and you will suffer with drawls until the next comes out...... so enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing work of storytelling
An amazing work of storytelling. Not that we expect less from Mr Silvers.
Callie learns more about herself and where she came from, she gets more lessons in not all being as it seems. Lots of suspense and a betrayal.
This book takes us on great strides in Callie's character development, but, as always, more questions!
A truly wonderful story, well told. Great pacing, imagery and the expected one liners.
