Susanne Matthews lives in Eastern Ontario, Canada with her husband. She has three grown children and five grandchildren. Of French-Canadian descent, although her ancestry is British Isles, Susanne is an avid reader of all types of books, but with a penchant for happily ever after romances regardless of what it takes to get there. A retired educator, she spends her time writing and creating adventures for her readers in a variety of genres that range from contemporary to romantic thrillers.     Nikki was a great character. All the horror she went through both physically and emotionally really drew me in.     On His Watch is a suspenseful thriller with a romantic twist. The plot is not complex, but highly entertaining.

    With books of fiction, I like well-developed characters involved in rich story-lines that stay with me after I've gone to bed. This book certainly fills that bill.

    The characters are developed not so much that you can visualize them physically, but you can really understand them emotionally. The two main characters are realistic and believable. Our hero and protector cannot leap tall buildings in a single bound, but is definitely skilled at what he does. He’s an imperfect man with emotions and a big heart who gets the job done. Our victim’s trauma is uniquely captured and this lovely lady’s inner strength reads true. Is there romantic involvement between protector and victim? You’ll see. All the supporting characters are purposefully introduced without superfluous characters to confuse the reader.

    The pace of the story is set with the situation, on several occasions at a break-neck pace. The book is well researched. A distant villain with a plocomelia abnormality; nice touch. Look it up, I had to.

    I recommend “On His Watch” as a thoroughly entertaining easy read.

I was totally entertained by this story of a man who couldn't get past his guilt because his reckless disregard of time caused so much heartache.     Jason just wants to rest before deciding how to move forward with his life. When he answers an emergency call while giving his brother a hand, his life changes forever. Nikki just wants a normal life, and that’s what she think she has until someone nearly kills her and her entire family. But the killer isn’t finished yet.

    Suzanne writes an excellent who done it with a twist. I always enjoy her books. Well worth the read.

    I read On His Watch as part of the Unforgettable Temptations series of books as an inexpensive way to find new authors. I had never read any books by this author but I will look forward to reading more of her books. On His Watch had me hooked right from the very beginning. Jason is at crossroads in his life. Trying to decide what he wants to do going forward He reluctantly answers a 9 1 1 call believing it is just a “pocket dial”. When he gets to the scene of the call and finds a horror scene he can’t forgive himself for not getting there sooner. Nikki the victim of this brutal attack, has no memory of the event and wants to move forward with her life but when the murderer returns and tries to finish the job he started, Jason steps up and proves he can protect her. There are many twist and turn in this book with a HEA.

    I received this book for free. This does not impact my review in any shape or form.

    This book was enjoyable. True, it screamed rich people problems, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I liked how realistic Nikki was when she found out about Jason’s reaction to the 911 call, and how protective she is of her daughter. Although she couldn’t remember her children before, you could tell how much she loves them based on how visceral her reactions were. Moreover, Nikki isn’t a pushover, and although the men in her life have tried to keep her obedient, she’s always had her children’s safety in mind, and in doing so, knew full well she needed to be strong to keep them safe. That being said, I loved how Jason fit into the family and how adorkable their interactions were. Personally, I would’ve enjoyed the story more had not there been an action element to it, but the buildup was good, as was the tension.
