This book is one of the longest that I've written so far. I had a lot to say and I wanted you, the reader, to get a good sense of the characters. Ellie's story has been in my head for a while now, and even though I knew some of my readers wanted Ellie with someone else, I hope they embrace who she is. Thank you for taking the time to read this story!

About the Author

"Just one more chapter!" I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.
 

If I'm not writing or reading, I'm training for triathlons. It's a good way to challenge my body the way I challenge my brain when writing. I'm not the greatest at it, but not only do I do it for the challenge, I do it for charity. It's a good motivation. :)

Currently living in the Houston area, Jourdyn spends her time writing and caring for what she equates as a zoo with 5 dogs, 3 cats, a bearded dragon, and 10 aquariums that contain frogs, turtles, an axolotl, an electric blue crayfish, and other fish. In the recent years, she has changed her lifestyle to include working out and eating right. With the recent decline in her mother's health due to Alzheimer's, Jourdyn uses a portion of the proceeds of her books to help those who suffer from this terrible disease. #endalz

Jourdyn loves bringing her characters out for everyone to meet. Her goal is to keep writing in many different genres, as she feels there shouldn't be anything limiting writers.

    I loved the main characters of Ellie, the owner of a diner and pie maker extraordinaire, her fabulous teenage daughter Jessie and Dr. Hunter, a trauma surgeon at the local hospital.

    I loved the humor, the heart, the insecurity - the full range of emotions. I loved the secondary friendships who were so supportive throughout the adversity and I actually loved how much I hated all the negative influencers who truly contributed to the profound rise to ecstasy. I have never rooted harder for the MCs to get their HEA!

    This is my first book from this author but it definitely won't be my last. I very much love Jourdyn's writing style with its easy flow from one character to another and for the life lessons of chosen family, forgiveness and actual triumph over evil. This book will stick with me for a long time!

    I absolutely love this book and series!! Ellie owns a well loved diner and bakes scrumptious pies. She's also a closeted lesbian. With a 16 yr old daughter Jessie, who she had at 16 after one experience with a boy. Then one day in walks Dr. Hunter Vale and Ellie has a strange tingling. Hunter is so enamored that she stutters when trying to talk to Ellie.
    This book has twists and turns along with a beautiful love story. There are fantastic friendships afforded both main characters. Those friends run through the whole LA Lovers series and also in the Eve Sumpter series. This is a favorite! 5 stars!

    This is the first of this author's books I've read and after finishing, I'll definitely read others.

    The book was well-written. There's humor, romance, drama and an excellent display of family born and family chosen. The characters were enjoyable and I found myself immersed in their stories, evoking my desite to read anything involving them. The author makes a note at the end about the paucity of sex scenes, but I agree with her explanation and reasoning-it totally works for the personality of the protagonists.

    This author goes on my must read list.

    This is the 5th book by this author i've read, and i've enjoyed them all. by reading them chronologically i've come to know the characters and enjoyed the story more by knowing their back story. There are several issues touched upon in this book, and all are true to life and well represented. this story relies heavily on strong friendships among the characters, and the message that family is what you build, not necessarily what you are born into. This author can write realistically about romance, straight or lesbian, and i've enjoyed her books involving both. This author also seem to provide a dramatic conclusion to each book, which i've enjoyed, and in this book, the confrontation moments are fun.. an eloquent telling-off is always fun to read. i look forward to the rest of her writings.

    This story captured me from the moment Hunter and Ellie’s eyes met in the diner. To have somebody be so stunned by another person like that just struck me in the heart with reminders. As the story unfolds about each of their lives and the person they are, you needed them to be together to make things right. There was so much good that came from this story besides the bad and ugly. The twist and turns added to an already well written book that you couldn’t wait to see how it ends but secretly wishing it wouldn’t. I love the supporting cast as well in this story and as they appeared in other stories but I think Hunter and Ellie just caught my heart. Great Job!

It’s more than just a love story, it feels like a real, rich slice of life which has you laughing and crying as the story unfolds. You can really empathise with the main couples personal struggles and complex backstories and seeing them come together is so heartwarming. The interactions between Hunter and Ellie, Jessie, Blaise and their friends are so good and realistic I’m sure it’s a story I will enjoy reading again. I’m looking forward to reading more of the author’s work.

    Outstanding book. So I’ve kinda been reading these out of order and way way after first published…but they are really heartfelt, heartbreaking stories. You couldn’t ask for better characters, the back story behind them and the progress made. I don’t think reading them out of order has any impact on enjoying them. However you decide to read these, just do it! Older stories deserve love too.
