Editorial Reviews

Review

"This story also deals with the psychological aspects of survival, because the characters resort such extreme measures to stay alive they start to question their own morals in the process. As the characters try to stay alive, they also start to do things that make them question how civilized they really are. I would recommend this story to anyone who is interested in reading about the psychological aspects of survival, in regards to moral judgment and identity." Alicia09, Onlinebookclub.org"I just finished The Mystery of flight 2222 and was really impressed. Right from the start the title interested me as I love a good mystery and I enjoy a survivor story. I certainly rate it a solid 4 out of 4. Professionally written and edited the book is an easy read. The book is action paced and well written to make the reader feel the fear, the sorrow and the hopefulness of the 9 characters. I found it hard to put the story down as I wanted to know what was next. The realism, although a bit disgusting at times, grabs the reader and puts you in the story. The twist and turns keep reeling you in only to be thrown by the next twist. Neviaser reveals the inner workings and motivation of each character strip by strip like the peeling on an onion. Great character development and a solid plot line make for a great book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and psychological thrillers. It's really like a roller coaster ride, twists and turns both terrifying and thrilling at the same time. Its one of the best books I have read this year. Pick up The Mystery of Flight 2222 it's well worth it." leeO, onlinebookclub.org"The book was an amazing read. The author has put in good effort to define the characters and scenarios. He has included all the relevant details required for each scene which creates an accurate image in your head. The story is very grabbing too. Mostly in a thriller novel, as you read on, it becomes easier to guess what happens next but this was not the case in this story. A reader gets glued to the book and keeps on turning the pages to see what happens next. The characters are easy to connect to and their conversations are simple and believable. Best parts of the book were the adventures that kept coming in a good flow. The story did not break at any point to focus on some irrelevant part or flashbacks of the characters. This was left for the epilogue." Unitedvgo, onlinebookclub

The Mystery of Flight 222 is a bleak and brutally honest exploration of just what lengths we human beings will go to in order to survive, and how our lived experiences ultimately shape just how we go about that survival.
The book starts off innocently enough, with two of the protagonists, Helen and Frank, playing a game to pass the time on a long international flight where they pick seven individuals and guess things about them, such as their age, occupation, and character traits. This playful atmosphere quickly turns tragic as their plane crashes into the sea due to irreparable mechanical failure, killing everyone save for Helen, Frank, and incredibly, the very seven people who were the focus of their guessing game. What follows is a fast-paced, horrifying account of these nine individuals’ attempts to survive in a tiny life raft, despite catastrophe after catastrophe. I often found myself feeling initial sympathy for the characters, but my sympathy would turn to downright contempt and revulsion as the story reached its dramatic conclusion. The author provides a backstory for each character as a sort of epilogue, which further clarifies their often awful actions in the main story.
Nevaiser pulls no literary punches in his often graphic descriptions of things like death and cannibalism; needless to say, this book should only be consumed by those with a strong stomach! The story flows fast and smooth, keeping the page after page turning with little difficulty. Just when you think you know what’s coming next, the story dumps a proverbial bucket of ice water over your head as it goes in a completely unexpected direction. The Mystery of Flight 222 gives its readers a rollercoaster of emotions – thrills, chills, dumbfounded shock – and will have you questioning just exactly what YOU would end up doing in just such a devastating situation.

Title: THE MYSTERY OF FLIGHT 2222 BY THOMAS NEVIASER

This novel reminds me of a classic Greek Tragedy. Outwardly, the characters seem kind, genuine and respectful human beings but inwardly they are maniacal, deceitful, and cowardly; just genuinely awful people. For some reason, these nine people are the only survivors of a terrible plane crash on the way to Argentina. They end up in a life raft afloat in the ocean, waiting to be rescued. Even on the ocean when food runs out and water is dependent on rainfall, their true personalities don’t really come forth. With the exception of the flight attendant, Kimberly who is clearly psychotic, and Homer (a splash of Greek – Homer wrote the Iliad) who is a selfish, disheveled hippy-type out for himself; the others seem quite normal and fairly rational considering their circumstances.

Until the food runs out and the logical resolution is to draw straws to see who will be served for dinner, most of the folks act as we might expect. Thankfully, one survivor succumbs and the decision about whom to carve up is delayed. Of course, as time rolls on, more food is needed and again, someone dies, providing the remaining cannibals with further sustenance.

As you continue through the book, page by page, hoping upon hope that they will finally be rescued, they hear a boat. But something else goes wrong as the boat is owned and run by pirates who are in the human trafficking business. Frank and Irving (an elite soldier in the Israeli army – discharged early as he is a “loose cannon”) hatch a plan to takeover the boat and get the remaining survivors to land. But again, something goes wrong. If you know the story of Sisyphus, you will see some obvious parallels. The writing is smooth and enjoyable. It will be interesting to see what the author comes up with next. Enjoy.

MYSTERY OF FLIGHT 222 BY THOMAS NEVAISER

The prologue begins, nothing happens by chance or outside Universal Law. Every action a has a reaction and consequence. We reap what we sow. How true these words prove to be. Fasten your seat belt for this terrifying ride.
How could an innocent game to pass time on a long flight go so wrong? The game was to guess the age, marital status, profession and name of seven other passengers. It seemed an innocent
way to relax nerves and provide a welcome diversion for a nervous flyer.
Frank and Helen were seat mates. Both flying to Argentina for very different reasons. I don’t feel right in divulging many names, stories or plot sequences. This is such a thrilling adventure ,you need to experience it for yourself. Plot twists are the surprise factor that keeps a book exciting.
I will tell you, the characters all have their stories.but most seem kind, genuine
and just normal, nice people sharing a flight.
Are people always who they seem? What happens if they face disaster together?
We see through these characters how our flaws can come back to bite us. We are all flawed in some way and this becomes apparent in them.
As they endure the ravages of trying to be rescued their real personalities are revealed.
I feel I was close to half way through this novel before I could blink. I kept turning page after page as fast as I could.
If you love mysteries, thrillers, as I do, I guarantee you’re going to love this book.
The author, Thomas Neviaser was amazing at bringing out the worst that could happen and the psychological effects this has in the long run. His writing is smooth and the story well told.
    I highly recommend this book.
