From the Author

Writing "Something About Eve" was one of the most difficult and most wonderful thing for me. I know that people will take from it what they will, but my intentions for the book never faltered. It is a different kind of love story, but in the end it's what the characters learn about themselves that made it special for me. I welcome your thoughts and comments, and would love to tell you why the characters ended up the way they did.For more of Eve and Lainey, check out the sequel, "Flawed Perfection", and the Eve & Lainey short story on my website under Stories. These characters are always great to have around (in my head) and they show up in my other books. I never say never when it comes to writing a new book for them.

About the Author

"Just one more chapter!" I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.

If I'm not writing or reading, I'm training for triathlons. It's a good way to challenge my body the way I challenge my brain when writing. I'm not the greatest at it, but not only do I do it for the challenge, I do it for charity. It's a good motivation. :)

Jourdyn Kelly's first book was phenomenal. I loved the MCs. There was so much chemistry in the book from both M/F & F/F connection. I have read books later in the series prior to reading this one, but I still enjoyed it. It gives a much needed depth to Eve, Lainey, and Adam triangle.

I really liked how Eve wanted to protect Lainey. I really liked how Eve and Lainey loved each other. I really liked that Eve was a self-made woman and had a caring heart. My problem is that I read this series out of order. DUH!!!!! I started with book #3 (which I loved). In reading this one next, I found myself not really happy with the ending. Eve just wouldn't allow herself to really be "In love" with someone. In all honesty this 1st book ended the only way it could have or even should have. There is a lot of romance and a lot of anxious moments. I don't want to give spoilers but my suggestion would definitely be read the whole series ----but read them in order like I should have done!!! The writing is absolutely superb!!

I know I am a little late in reading this series as this was Jourdyn Kelly’s first book, but what a read. I started reading this after the LA Lovers Series. I started with Fifty Shades Of Pink and then Coming Out. After getting to know the characters, I went back and read the books in order. Which brought me to the Something About Eve series. It has been a whirlwind since. I have now read a total of six books between the two series and am so emotionally involved with each and every character. The hidden turmoil and horror Eve has had to live with is unbelievable.Eve and Lainey’s chemistry was so hot and heartfelt with the need for each other so strong. The true and honest love they have for each other is so heartwarming and felt to the core of us readers soul. I felt that with Hunter and Ellie from the other series. I can’t wait to continue with this series. Jourdyn Kelly’s writing has such a way of pulling the reader in so deep that you feel like you know these characters deeply. So so good!

    Well written.
Emotionally packed…I’m still unpacking so many thoughts and feelings I could relate to.
    Grammar was impeccable.
    Vocabulary was exquisitely deliberate.
This is the type of story lives are lived of. From the dark secrets to complicated love to the tragedies to the close to perfect happy ending. Because if we look at our lives there always comes a sacrifice for true happiness.

Jourdyn doesn’t make the characters overly depressing but also doesn’t make them overly sappy. Most of us really are this tormented we just don’t like to admit it. And most of us are not as rich as Eve but hey, that’s what sensational fiction is for 😁.

This well-written book moves beyond sex into the realm of emotional love. Kelly provides readers with four believable characters, each of whom struggle at various times with angst and confusion as they grapple with secrets, lies, jealousy, and love.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars There Is Indeed Something About Eve

Below, you will find my original review.

I was wrong. I can admit that. I have now read all four books in this series. The journey was what made this couple stand out. Everything Eve went through, everything Lainey went through, to come through it all and be stronger together for it?

My reviews were so, so wrong. So, if Jourdyn Kelly sees this - please accept my sincerest apologies. I am actually going to remove my review of the second book - though I do maintain it was my absolute least favourite of the series - I can admit that I was wrong and I regret how harsh I was.

Now, I do stand by my personal belief that switching of tenses throughout the first and second book was distracting and not a choice I'd ever make in my own writing.

But I can see why this series is so loved. It's the characters of Lainey and Eve. Jourdyn said at the end of the fourth book that it was Lainey that most readers connected with. For me, Eve was the one I kept coming back for. Yes, Lainey too, but there was most certainly something about Eve. I know I will reread this series in the years to come and woefully laugh at myself for how harsh I was the first time around!

First off, I was recommended this book by IHEARTSAPPHIC - it made it to the BEST OF THE BEST list for the Billionaire genre. And I’ve never felt so betrayed. This is not a sapphic romance. Bisexual, sure. Pansexual, even. But do not read this if you’re looking for a happy ever after for a loving lesbian couple.

That aside - I was also thrown every single time Jourdyn switched tenses. It happened often enough that I wonder who edited this - once or twice was understandable. Multiple times? It was either poorly edited or a choice made by the writer and it did not work. Pick a tense. Don’t switch it mid-sentence, don’t switch it at all. It makes for a poor structure and lessens the work.

I’m not generally one who needs trigger warnings, but it would have been nice to have had one included for some of the darker content of the story. What Eve enduring in her teen years was horrific to read about, a warning could have softened that blow for sure.

Lainey and Eve come across as two very, very confused characters. I have to admit, I wasn’t fond of the inclusion of Eve’s male lover - Adam, or Lainey’s husband. I felt jarred every time I was ripped away from what was going on between the two women once the men entered the scene and honestly, it made it difficult to finish. I did finish this story, however, and despite my trepidation, I will continue onto the sequel. I was immensely surprised by the ending - not the culmination of Eve’s past catching up to her and the outcome of that, but the choices Eve made.

The storytelling in general is strong - my own personal biases aside, Jourdyn clearly poured a lot into this and I do genuinely admire and appreciate that. Always. This just didn’t hit the mark for me on a personal note, it is not traditionally the kind of story I’d read - but there is beauty between Eve and Lainey, and something that felt at times so genuine, that’s what kept me glued to the screen. And for their connection, I’ll continue with the next book. Even if I do skim the mentions of Adam and Jack…

I was reading and reading this book and I couldn't put it down. The story, the explanation, every page a different surprise. just WOW!!!! however the end is not what I was expecting even if near the end you can see the end, but except the end that I was hoping that it will be different, all the book and the characters are wonderful. Then I realized that there is a second book about Eve's story so I have already bought it waiting to read the continuance of her story

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 27, 2013
First off, this book was free and on that basis it should have been one of those short two chapter stories that never quite get going. Wrong! How wrong I was and here for a change is a full novel giving a good few twists and turns and just one or two surprises along the way.
I was pleasantly surprised when I read this book and found it a good page turner. Like a pebble in a pond the rings it makes are like the characters in this book. From the smallest ring, the central characters to the largest ring, just characters that come and are never seen again or so you'd think, they all ripple out and back again until just the strongest are left. Just as the people in this book, I don't want to tell you about this book as you need to read it and make up your own mind but I enjoyed it immensely. A good read, thank you Jourdyn.
