Aleatha Romig is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author who lives in Indiana, USA. She grew up in Mishawaka, graduated from Indiana University, and is currently living south of Indianapolis as well as part of the year in Bradenton, Florida, USA. Before she became a full-time author, she worked days as a dental hygienist and spent her nights writing.     This book was very interesting from with twists and turns keeping your attention with living environment, to romance, to being safe, to being a strong woman with intelligence and good looks. So much history evolved with the main characters is entertaining clear to the conclusion of this book.

    After getting a shock at the end of book one . We start right where we left off in book one . Araneae has had the shock of her life and now her life is in danger even more . The only man that can protect her is the man who really can't be trusted . Sterling Sparrow a man who is more of a mystery . There is secrets that people want from Araneae have her in danger and Sterling is trying to keep her safe but there are so many things that can put her in the line of danger . Will they be able to keep her safe and will their budding love keep them alive .
    These characters just keep getting better and better . Sterling well I am really beginning to like him. He is still a little on the non trustworthy side but the more you read him . He becomes more and more likeable . He is such an alpha , strong and oh so sexy you will love to hate him . Araneae is really starting to become a force in his life . She is a fighter even though she really doesn't know what is going on sometimes . She is the perfect match for Sterling . We also get insight into Araneae's real mother and what happened when she was born . You really just want to hug both of them and tell them everything will be ok . We also get to meet the rest of Sterling's group of men . We find out a bit more of what is going on .
    This book starts right where the first book left off. I sat down and read this book in an evening . I couldn't put it down , I got sucked in and loved every second of Sterling and Araneae. The author takes these characters and basically puts them through the wringer and then leaves us trying to fix them . She really takes us on a roller coaster ride. The best part of the book is watching the interaction between the two main characters . They are made for each other . I truly enjoyed this book , we get so much great story in this book. Even the backstory of what really happened to Araneae on the day of her birth. I will say when you start to read this book have a box of tissues an snuggly blanket and a glass of wine with you cause ladies you will need all three . I will warn you there is a cliff hanger at the end of this book . So check out this series and get them for your Christmas treat .

Usually I need a break between the series just to reset the brain but these books flowed well and kept going smoothly. I say its vanilla but you have some spankings but otherwise complete vanilla.

    I really enjoyed this book. Hot tip, if you haven't read the first book in the series, you need to. Even though the author very kindly includes the last chapter of the previous installment, you would still need to read it in order to get a full understanding of the story and its characters. Book 2 picks up straight away from where Book 1 finished off. Sterling continues to play his alpha role and is determined to keep Araneae as his own. She continues to live in his penthouse in Chicago as they both try to figure out how they fit into each other's lives.

    Their relationship continues to be complex. We still don't have the full story on Araneae's background, but a few significant pieces are revealed, although personally I found this left me with more questions. The supporting characters play their part well in the story, particularly Patrick. While the book is seen from the point of view of both Sterling and Araneae in their respective chapters, we also get a smattering of chapters by Annabelle, Araneae's mother. I thought this was a great addition as it recounted her birth and the trouble her parents were having. I'll be honest, Sterling frustrated the living daylights out of me in a couple of scenes in this book. There's alpha male and then there's bordering on being an immovable kidnapper - he started to lean a bit towards the latter in one or two parts of the book. He tried to remove all choices and free-will from Araneae and this made my inner feminist want to scratch his eyes out. She can't leave without anyone (physically isn't capable) and he does come across as a bully at times (although he always redeems himself satisfactorily).

    As with Book 1, the writing was solid. I think the author has done a really decent job of drawing me into the characters' world. I would have liked a bit more included about Sterling and his background as he's still a bit of an aloof male lead, but he's yummy enough that I can forgive this. There is a bit of repetition with language choices that were also included in Book 1 - think Araneae's core and cheeks rising left, right and centre (the author's catch phrase for smiling).

    Overall, this book has continued to suck me into the series. There was an incident of drugging, ghosts from the past and complications with the present. If you liked the first book, you should enjoy this one, too. I'll definitely be continuing the roller coaster ride with Book 3.

    Goodness Alestha sure knows how to leave you in suspense. This series just builds up such a strong sensation of emotional , physical and psychological suspense. We start where book 1, in this series finished. Someone is lying, someone is deceiving and goodness knows whom is telling the truth. Araneae’s life before Kennedy or even Renee, has more curves than a circle, Sterling is very trying in all dimensions, but both are obviously in love with each other. I can’t help feeling sorry for Annabelle now I know more, and who is really to blame. The characters are so vivid, the storyline is so sad, but dark in places. This author just leaves you wanting more, and her novels are irresistible, compulsive and totally enjoyable but also exasperating, cliffhangers. Phenomenal
