Legend: Nate Temple Series Book 11 Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 2,923 ratings

NATE TEMPLE HAS HOLES IN HIS SOUL, BOTH IMAGINED AND REAL…

And the only way to patch his soul back together is to go back to where it all began. To where he began. To where a Manling was born…

To a dangerous boy named Wylde.

Because to have any hope at standing against Mordred—to save Camelot and St. Louis alike—he must learn what it means to be a Catalyst.

A little boy must know his legend—his origin. And he must learn the painful truth that his entire life has been meticulously planned and laid out like the steps to a choreographed dance. And that Mordred is just another dance card in a long line of future suitors at the Temple Ball.

If Nate can survive the dance, that is…

Let’s discover what dangers a little boy can get into when his imagination is more real than reality itself…

When the powers of life and death can be heard in the absent humming of a little boy playing in the woods with his cat…

Because behind every Song is a Mask waiting to be born.

Or destroyed

Shayne is a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery…

He writes the Amazon Bestselling Feathers and Fire Series about a rookie spell-slinger named Callie Penrose who works for the Vatican in Kansas City. Her problem? Hell seems to know more about her past than she does.

He also writes the Amazon Bestselling Nate Temple Series, which features a foul-mouthed wizard from St. Louis. He rides a bloodthirsty unicorn, drinks with Achilles, and is pals with the Four Horsemen. Both series take place in the same universe, because it’s fun.

Shayne holds two high-ranking black belts, and can be found writing in a coffee shop, cackling madly into his computer screen while pounding shots of espresso. He’s hard at work on the latest books in his shared TempleVerse, as well as a few new projects that will blow readers' mind-holes...

Let me start off saying , if this is the first shayne silvers book you are buying , STOP ... this is an amazing series and to fully grasp the amazing storyline that has been created , start at book one, Obsidian son.

Shayne has created a world, "the Templeverse" , where any and everything can happen. His characters are so real, so relatable, you WILL find one that is a soul mate , you will cry when they cry, laugh when they laugh and hurt when they hurt. These books show you true friendship, the truest of love, the deepest of betrayal all while making you laugh uncontrollably out loud . .. if you read these in public be warned .. laughing, random crying, gasping , cussing and the occasional " fing Carl" will spill from your mouth.
Be prepared to meet legends, gods, goddesses, creatures and characters you THOUGHT you knew. You will be drawn into their minds, see personalities and feel kinship to them in ways you never thought possible.
Legends is the 11th book following the trials and friends of one Nate Temple, a wizard who wanted nothing more in life than to run his book store and hang with his friends, with no real responsibilities. But as adults we know , life NEVER goes as planned and many days if it can go wrong it will. You will enjoy following Nate and his friends as his life goes to hell, his world flipped upside down, he experiences love, joy, loss and hopelessness and he grows as a man into something more than he ever believed he could. Legends is a crazy roller coaster of emotions, it answers questions but leaves you with so many more. It makes you cry for people you were mad at and get mad at people you loved. At some point you might even find yourself too shocked to feel anything. One things for sure, you will desperately be waiting for book 12 like the rest of us! You will not regret starting this series... welcome to the TEMPLEVERSE!

In the 11th installment of the Nate Temple Chronicles, LEGEND, Shayne Silvers didn’t pull any punches. Like his main character, Nate, Silvers took the reader on a roller coaster of emotions, squeezing out every bit of our souls. It is a story that teaches Nate and us that often where we think we belong or know every answer to who we are, that as long as we live, our story is never complete.

Searching for answers in his past, Nate discovers more about himself by looking to the present and concentrating on what is ahead. Gripping with emotions of sacrifice, hope, joy; Nates comes to terms with his parents’ lies as well as his distorted childhood. Nates sees his life through the eyes of a child, long influences of two mentors, and the unborn pups of his dear friends.

From the beginning, you knew this book would be different. Shayne’s trademark humor and constant surprises were there but along with it, there was heart and depth that remind us that these characters, have become family and as readers, we have invested in their lives. It has been an incredible ride to see Nate evolve in the character he is today. Despite being a jerk at times, his love for friends and family run deep.

Thankfully, with the light-hearted humor of Grimm and his distaste of rainbows, Silvers gives us a pause to the intensity of the story we are deeply involved in. It is very clever that Silvers give Grimm a voice that makes you wish you had a blood-thirsty unicorn in your life too.

Shayne is a master of fiction and a genius at reaching our souls. It might be called fiction, but we receive something very real inside. This book will remain on my heart for a long time. Just brilliant.

Overall a great read! There were a lot of on going questions answered with a healthy dose of new questions brought to the surface. Some major twists and turns with some heartaches thrown in also. Really the only two complaints I have are minor: 1. The story is so good, it feels like each book should be longer! Shayne does of great job of leaving you wanting more and also releasing new books in a whirlwind fashion so this complaint is minor. 2. The Templeverse is getting very expansive with a LOT of characters and plots that are crossing over. While this is interesting most of the time, I find at other times it is very easy to forget who a character is and how they relate to the story. While you have the core characters (Nate, Callie, and Quinn) their supporting characters flow in and out from book to book with new ones added and deleted. Again, this is a minor complaint as it gives the author PLENTY of material to craft entertaining stories.

I know I keep giving 5 star reviews to these books, and it might seem hokey, but allow me to explain. I base my enjoyment of fiction on several things, including, plot, characterization, writing style and overall theme. This series has all of those things. I've read a couple of reviews complaining that things aren't happening fast enough. I feel your pain. I really do. I went through it in a series wherein the author eventually died before finishing, and someone else had to finish it for him.

This series doesn't read like that for me. I enjoy the moments that aren't relevant to the overarching theme, wherein we get to just "hang out" with the characters and breathe a sigh of relief, all the while knowing something is just around the corner.

Put another way, Silvers' writing style seems like an amalgamation of modern craziness mixed with the slow build that Victorian literature used. Think Charles Dickens who wrote a lot of his books in serial form for magazines. Every one of Silvers' books is like a season of a television show, almost episodic, and you might not like every episode (I definitely do), but he never loses the threads of the arc, and that's important.

I thought this was an excellent addition to the series. One of the amazing things to me about this series is knowing I'm going to be surprised but still not quite figuring it out. That makes it fun. If you're new to the series, turn this browser around and get the first book. You won't regret it.

I waited up to download this book bang on midnight! I read it until 2am, fell asleep, and woke up at half 6, determined to have it done before work. I was NOT disappointed. I was wrecked emotionally before I got to chapter 10. I cried! I jumped for joy! I grieved! GoddamnyouIgrieved!!! I was overjoyed and shocked and surprised! Believe me, I felt exhausted by the time I finished this one. I felt like someone had stuxk me in a washing machine, and added an extra 1500 spins to the cycle! Another masterpiece! Mr Silvers, I am in awe. I have spent the last 10 hours in a bubble, oblivious, still mentally trying to process it all. Well done! Oh, and I recommend you read ALL the books in order. Start with Fairy Tale, the short story before Obsidian Son.

5.0 out of 5 stars another amazing book by author Shayne silver in the templeverse series,
Reviewed in Australia on December 14, 2018
What can I say, Shayne Silvers has done it again, what a ride. If you have not started this series, You should. This is a great series, it will have you rolling on the floor laughing one minute, hugging your pillow in tears the next. You will find that you will try and get your family and friends to read it...than have amazing discussion on theroys about the books. You will even recommend it to complete strangers. I am recommending the series because while it could be read on its own if you were to buy legend with out pre reading, the roller coaster of emotions that Shayne takes you on in legend will rip your heart out but you won’t know why. So buy legend and the other 10 or so books sit down strap your self in and come and join as at the Den of Freaks.

And I really enjoyed the story as a whole it left me a little crazy and suffering from an intense desire for both the next book and an opportunity to kick Shayne in the balls while wearing steel capped boots.

Once again Nate faces down myths and legends to save his friends, using more buckle than swash and wringing well-deserved agony from his victims. This is more than Shayne's usual rollercoaster - this is a breath-stopping and heart taking adventure for Shayne's characters, and his readers. Best read in the privacy of your own home.
