Quinn MacKenna learns that the cure for a blinding hangover is simple…
Stay in bed, and whatever you do, don’t answer your freaking door.
Otherwise, you might find yourself roped into a murder investigation with a psychopath attempting to rewrite the Twelve Days of Christmas as a holiday homicide special, asked to rescue a former international spy, forced to dodge bullets with a Valkyrie, or to take on a power-hungry Fae intent on freezing everything he touches.
Hypothetically speaking.
In hindsight, snorting crushed aspirin in a dingy alley would have been the wiser choice…
Especially when Quinn learns the only way to find the answers she seeks is by... sampling some magically-infused, hallucinogenic flowers. And that someone is waiting for her on the other side of her out-of-body experience.
And they've been waiting a very long time...

About the authors
Shayne is a man of mystery and power, whose power is exceeded only by his mystery…
He writes the Amazon Bestselling Feathers and Fire Series about a rookie spell-slinger named Callie Penrose who works for the Vatican in Kansas City. Her problem? Hell seems to know more about her past than she does.
He also writes the Amazon Bestselling Nate Temple Series, which features a foul-mouthed wizard from St. Louis. He rides a bloodthirsty unicorn, drinks with Achilles, and is pals with the Four Horsemen. Both series take place in the same universe, because it’s fun.
Shayne holds two high-ranking black belts, and can be found writing in a coffee shop, cackling madly into his computer screen while pounding shots of espresso. He’s hard at work on the latest books in his shared TempleVerse, as well as a few new projects that will blow readers' mind-holes...

Cameron O’Connell is an American author born in Berlin who lives in the UK.
He writes the Ventlight Archives as well as the Phantom Queen Diaries, a series set in The Nate Temple Universe, about Quinn MacKenna, a mouthy black magic arms dealer trading favors in Boston. All she wants? A round-trip ticket to the Fae realm…and maybe a drink on the house.
As a former member of the United States military, expired fashion model, and former English teacher, Cameron finds time to write in the mornings after his first cup of coffee…and in the evenings after his thirty-seventh. Follow him, and the Templeverse founder, Shayne Silvers, online for all sorts of insider tips, giveaways, and new release updates!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2022I absolutely love this person and the world with which she surrounds herself. That world was a very small and isolated one aside from business associates. However, since dipping a toe into the world of " Nate Temple and Associates ", the number of both friends and enemies she has accrued is growing at a staggering rate! With regulars being murdered across the country by a supernatural being as well as her friends being kidnapped, Quinn has no choice but to step in and attempt to help law enforcement.... including a newly formed unit of the FBI formed to deal with supernatural beings, all unofficially, of course. As with all if Shane's books ( with a nod to Cameron for adding a large dash of spice to the mix! ), the action and snark is nonstop with never a dull moment. This series continues to be a great read and the small overlap into Templeverse may keep me content until Nate's next book comes out! I continue to be amazed how Shayne can build worlds and characters that are so real and engaging while being totally wild! No pun intended! Shayne Silvers, you are the best and Cameron O' Connell, you did a superb job! Congrats on a great and totally enjoyable read! Now, on to the next in the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2024I can’t think of anything I dislike about this book. It is action packed and Quinn is sexy and snarky. Did I mention she is a badass in her own right? Well she is.
Can’t wait to read the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 26, 2018So are we making the new adjective "Camerific" or "O'Conellicious"?
The third foray into Quinn Mackenna's more dubiously principled life and world-sphere draws us deeper into things on the more far-flung end of the Templeverse where apocalyptic events are not in fact a regular Tuesday occurrence, and shows us how flabbergastingly convoluted the life and times of Nate Temple can look from a fresh outside perspective, even one that starts this entry fighting off a hangover from a Vegas bender with both his ex and somewhat precipitously assumed current girlfriend.
While I'm sure Silvers and O'Connell are laughing maniacally over the groans of their readers now having to wait to hear about that particular story, I'm more of the mind at how efficiently they're managing to juggle the likely well needed prodding to the hero-ego of Nate Temple along with the unfolding revelations that Quinn Mackenna may not in fact be just another obscure but low sitting Fae offspring on the universal roster, but yet another conveniently misplaced child of destiny on the cusp of inheriting or being forced into a role, powers, and responsibilities that should not be in the hands of someone so reliant on hard liquor to get her mental gears in working order. My money is at the moment on something to do with the Morrigan, because where most authors look at subtle foreshadowing as a carefully used scalpel, Silvers looks at like a nail-gun hooked up to an industrial sized air compression tank and a dubiously constructed feed-belt magazine cobbled into the clip.
The ride is a bit more wild to say the least, and Silvers is of no lost sleep at letting O'Connell run amok in his sandbox, clashing headlong into the longer-standing plot threads between other characters and even seeding and weaving a few new ones of his own into the jumbled mess along the way and he's shown he isn't afraid to drop a few status quo changes the way most authors would pepper in a meal scene or a discussion while driving.
All in all, I can tell that there are no plans to let the series be something small and unremarkable in comparison to the other series in the Templeverse, and as ever I look forward to what comes along next.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2018Do you remember the way you felt when you first began reading a series by someone good, so good that you were amazingly pleased at the prospect of more to come. I don't have to name names....you know exactly the feeling I'm talking about. You've been at the ground floor of something cool as hell and the third installment in the Phantom Queen Series in the beloved Templeverse delivers in spades.
Our heroine Quinn MacKenna the black magic arms dealer of Boston has multiple problems...(as usual). Which starts with massive hangover from a weekend in Vegas with Othello and Callie Penrose.....but that's another story. More Characters make their debut as well as the Crossover traffic hinted at before. This is an excellent book stronger as it goes and well worth the click. There is a serial killer murdering people to the theme of the 12 Days of Christmas.....missing Werebear and family.....oh and a lot of Fae intrigue. So please avail yourselves of this wonderful book and let Cameron O'Connell and Shayne Silvers do their magic.......
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2018The third book of the Phantom Queen Diaries series by Shayne Silvers and Cameron O’Connell, Old Fashioned, is my favorite of the series so far. We get to know Quinn better and see how she interacts with others.
I loved the introduction of all the new "Freaks" and to revisit some of our familiar people, like Jeffries. It was a good tie in with the Nate Temple books with the references of what was currently happening in St. Louis. I love the new friendship that Quinn has with Callie and how "her world" was included (bears in Alaska). I also love that Beckett is back in the story and it will be interesting if Callie will ever forgive him.
Great story, flowed beautifully, couldn't put it down. I loved Dobby and Eve-can't wait to see what happens with them-and Robin. Personally, I'd love a scene with Carl and Eve. Loved it! Quinn has completed the best trio of Temple-Verse ever found in any imaginary world. Well done, Shayne and Cameron!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2024We learned that there is much more to learn and there werent any real answers. Except you can not trust the Fae. I have also learned, I can not read another book outside of the Temple verse until I all the way done. I tried. It doesnt work Because I can not stop thinking about what is going to happen next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best ofnthe three
Best of the three so far, story comes together and flows really nicely meaning that the book is one you dont want tp put down.
Quinn plays detective and teams up with the fbi. characters are really well rounded and more is revealed about who Quinn really is, but in the great tradition of the templeverse you are left with more questions and wanting the next book to find the answers
- Samantha RooneyReviewed in Australia on July 12, 2018
5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive read
Third book in the series. Quinn learns not only that she, and Boston itself, are small specks in the landscape that is the Freak community across Earth and dimensions. Even her Boston acquaintances are more then seem. And the stories from her youth, like Arthurian legends and Jack Frost, aren’t the myths she presumed they were. And her usual snarky, sarcastic nature wins her some enemies as she attempts to ensure a Freak serial killer being chased across country by a division of the FBI staffed by Freaks who realise that, despite how much it hurts their sensibilities, sometimes mortal justice isn’t capable of dealing with Freaks who break mortal law or bring human attention to magic

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every star
another fantastic book from both Shayne Silvers and Cameron O’Connell, never a dull moment, always on the move with plenty of plot twists that will keep you on your toes....a good read on its own but so much better if you buy into the whole series, you will not be disappointed as you get dragged into Nate Temple’s universe.
- Jan GrayReviewed in the United Kingdom on June 29, 2018
5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant
Yet again another fab book. I really enjoy the crossover with the other Templeverse characters, great to see so many again from a different perspective and meet so many new (to this series) characters.
I really enjoyable, fast paced book.
Get the series read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good addition to the templeverse
Another good addition to the templeverse. Quinn is awesome and her story is really interesting. I will definitely be continuing this series.
