The Match Made In Heaven series are each stand-alone stories by various authors. Sweet, clean, heartwarming that get you in your feels, and maybe some happy tears. There is just the right amount of angst, issues, and eventually, solutions to keep the pages turning with wonderful characters.
Nikki Eben is a single mother to a three-year-old, Travis. She has had no family support, no support from her son’s father, and she is very protective of her child. She works with animals at a clinic and takes in strays—to the point that people will abandon them on her doorstep.
Dr. Jakob Milan has moved back to the hometown he was raised in and works in the ER at the hospital. He finds himself downtown with his mother to get a Christmas tree when he sees a little boy smearing mud on the side of his new leased Mercedes and loses it, only to come up against a mama bear of a mother protecting her cub.
The story will have a bad first start for Nikki and Jakob, and then their second meeting will be with her and Travis in the ER sick. This times, things are different, and Jakob seems more protective of both Nikki and Travis. When he asked her out, it is to meet at the church on Sunday and then to dinner, but Nikki has trust issues and is hesitant to agree, but finally will take the chance.
“Maybe he would be simply awesome and be her prince charming.”
Once burnt, twice shy Nikki will be very cautious with Jakob, but he shocks her in how he treats her and her son, with respect and care, including Travis in their date and making special memories. As they start dating and get to know each other, her past will be discussed, and he doesn’t hold it against her. He likes the woman he sees, and the mother she is to her son, her character speaks louder than words.
“One person’s flaw is another’s person’s treasure. I particularly like how protective you are of him. You never know, maybe you’ll feel that way about me sometime?”
What happens when Ryan tries to enter her and her son’s life again after ignoring her for four years? What will happen with the relationship she is building with Jakob, and how will it affect Travis? Will she be accepted into Jakob’s family at a Christmas party, or feel like an outsider?
“I am not Ryan and never will be. I treasure you too much to disrespect you. The faster you realize that I genuinely care and stop comparing me to him, then maybe we can move forward. “
While this story does mention church and prayer, it isn’t preachy, just a simple, clean romance that has imperfect people falling in love. There is only mild kissing in the story.
