But now, in a lonely Utah canyon, as a Pinkerton agent, she has drawn her six-gun on a rugged stranger—only to discover that, far from the dangerous outlaw she's been tracking, he is Branch McCauley, hired gun...and the most irresistible rascal ever to tempt and torment a woman.

About the author

Hello and welcome to my author page. Let me tell you a little about myself, as that seems to be the main purpose of this profile. Believe it or not, I began my fiction career in the third grade when I told my class that a little sister I never had died of a black widow bite. I also wrote books through my teen years, always about a girl whose mother mistreated her by making her wash dishes, sweep the floor... you get the idea. Never finished any of those stories. But the idea of writing a real book and publishing it never occurred to me. It was a particularly vivid dream that drove me to drag out a portable typewriter and go to work on my first novel. In 1990 my second completed book, Tender Touch, brought me a first place win in a writing contest and the following year became a Golden Heart Finalist. That won me an agent and a contract from Kensington who published five of my western historical romance novels. My books have placed or won in other contests as well. Forever Mine received a Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award nomination. I've always loved the Old West and I believe my novels reflect that emotion through their depth and vibrancy. I am always working on a new story. I hope you try my books and enjoy them. Follow me here on my author page and on my website at https://charleneraddon.com & get a free book.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2014Jenna is one extraordinary woman, who stands out in the crowd, one who fits the description of 'You've Come A Long Way Baby!' She's brave, independent, and tough. After Jenna and her mother were deserted by Jenna's father, she is determined to find him, ready to have him answer all the questions that haunted her for years. However, Jenna is also determined to find a train robber, while she prepares to set out on a mission as a Pinkerton agent. During her journey, while on her man-hunt, she finds Branch McCauley, a hired gun. It turns out that Branch is also searching for the bank robber, and wants to find this criminal as much as Jenna does.
Branch realizes that Jenna is not only filled with courage, but doesn't take too kindly to the opposite sex as they get involved in more-and-more arguments. Jenna is blind at first to the romantic sparks that continue to fly across the room, every time she sets her eyes on Branch. Does Jenna find out about Branch's haunted past? Does Branch find out why Jenna treats him the way she does? Will they both discover hidden secrets, and will Jenna come to terms with her father? Will love bring Jenna and Branch together?
Best-selling author Charlene Raddon delivers a historical romance with suspenseful twists and turns in an adventure made for the big screen. The setting of the old wild west is picture-perfect, the intriguing story is filled with hot romance, and the colorful characters bring the story to life. "TAMING JENNA" is seductive, as romantic as Runaway Bride, and as entertaining as Sleepless in Seattle. Highly recommended to readers who enjoy historical romance!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2019Enjoyed this book until end. I didn't. understand what she was going to tell him when they were surrounded by their grandchildren. Would have liked to have read about the reunion between Jenna's parents. The ending just didn't seem finished. It did have a good story line and strong characters. A good love story.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2015This book is a historical western with romance, intrigue, mystery and unending story-line. Each chapter brought something new. The author developed the characters so well that I felt I was actually part of the story. Jenna was a young woman looking for her father who had left the family years ago. Along with the adventure, she worked for Pinkerton looking for wanted killers. An old Indian friend, Charley Long Bow taught her how to shoot with a gun as well as bow and arrow; use a knife; build camp fires and use this knowledge to stay alive. Along the way she met Branch McCauley who was also hunting certain men who had killed his brother. There are twists and turns in this book that keep you reading on and on into the night. I found myself trying to solve mysteries and ways for poor Jenna when she got herself into trouble, to get out unscathed. All this suspense was in the Salt Lake City, Utah, area and surrounding mining areas. I enjoyed the story and highly recommend this book. The author did a great job describing the area, the mines, and did tons of research to put this read together. Thanks for a tremendous job in writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2019Jenna was a Pinkerton Agent searching for a wanted man and his reward. Branch was part owner of a silvermine, hotel and mercantile in a very small town. He was searching for the man or men that shot and killed his younger brother in cold blood. Beach and Jenna clash in their quest to find the guilty person. Their story find lots of adventure, excitement and they clash but sparks between them fly as well. Do they each find their man? Do they find love and a happily ever after. You will enjoy this exciting story of want, need and desire as they find their way. This is a *****, A+ book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2018While the plot line was unique and I was prepared to enjoy the journey I soon found myself with a headache from trying to keep track of descriptions that changed from one scene to the next. Branch, the male hero of the story turns out to be something of a calico cat in that every time the author describes the color of his hair (all over) it is different every time and the same goes for Jenna (the female hero) (no gender bias here). Let me just point out that mahogany is dark brown and ebony is black and that you don't clime on a horse and tear out of town wearing one kind of footwear and get off the horse wearing different shoes!
God is in the details and if one has a problem keeping track perhaps referring to notes should be recommended.
There is also the issue of length and knowing when to pull back on a characters personal issues, while I appreciate a colorful and detailed description as much as the next reader this book was rendered tedious by the sheer volume of descriptions as seen through the eyes of all the protagonists and repeated as often as possible.
Finally our lady fair, as genuine a bad ass as any woman could be...rides, shoots, fights, is deadly with a bow and has her fair share of guile but who is so annoyingly fearful of any kind of association with men (or mice) that it borders on psychotic, and just so your prepared she doesn't get over it until the dead last page of the story, I wanted to slap her. The book could have easily have been 6 chapters shorter and the angst toned down to a digestible degree with nothing lost and a lot gained.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2013Not a shrinking violet by any means, Jenna is a tough gal trying to prove it in a man's world in the Wild West. She is tracking a dangerous outlaw, Modena, and instead stumbles upon yet another hired gun and perhaps even more dangerous Branch McCauley.
The writing is fast paced and fun. Set in the romantic and rugged Wild West, the character of McCauley is everything a romance reader could ask for. He is a take charge, swoon-worthy man who isn't afraid of Jenna's spunk or determination.
Charlene Raddon creates yet another fun story filled with likable characters and quick, witty dialogue. If you are looking for a great romance to read this Winter, Taming Jenna will heat things up nicely.
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. The characters were strong and independent leaving you at times wondering, whether they ever would get together. Well worth reading!
