Demon (Book 9) The Price of Darkness (Mike Rawlins and Demon the Dog) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 151 ratings

The Demon Inc crew confront a montage of demons, slime creatures, human predators and romantic entanglements in another episode of horror and hilarious interaction. The usual suspects of paranormal pranks, Demon and Mongo, continue to harass their human companions, while hiding behind their duty as Demon Inc’s morality patrol. Mike thwarts their efforts to some extent, but Demon Inc’s Archives of Lost Souls must be fed at someone’s expense. Miss Teenage America, Ella Santos, working as Demon Inc’s commercial viability consultant, embroils herself into both the terrifying battle Demon Inc wages with evil, and the comedic avoidance of her new nickname: Sin.

A dimensional rift at the original beginning of Demon Inc, the haunted house at the aqueduct, births an ancient evil: an invisible demi-demon: Baal. It needs to find a vessel powerful enough to hold the essence of hell. Stalking Mike from the aqueduct, where the Demon Inc crew closed the dimensional rift, inadvertently setting Baal free, the Prince of Hell seeks a way past Mike’s shielding darkness. Baal enlists the easily controlled snowflake, mommy’s basement dwellers. Their hatred of Mike becomes a tool for Baal, but for Demon Inc, Baal is just another day at the paranormal park. Demon Inc recruits a beautiful fake news reporter, Darla Mason, when Mike’s darkness overwhelms both Mike and Darla to create the hottest addition to the Demon Inc Archive of Lost Souls ever recorded by the prank brothers: Demon and Mongo.

This young adult adventure strikes home with any audience. Non stop spooks and paranormal hoots make for a fun and fast paced read. The darkness added a bright spot to my day. If you need a break from the day to day grind, grab this book, sit back and enjoy the ride.

I couldn't put the book down. Read the whole thing in a day. I can't wait for the next one in the series. I love that the author takes real life loony characters and makes them pay for their loony liberal ideas. I wish that really happened in real life. Keep it up. By far every book in every series I read from Bernard Deleo is nothing but awesome.

Too short, but Mike and Demon books are always too short for me. Paranormal without werewolves and vampires. Politically incorrect action which lifts the heart of a committed patriot. And enough romance to and relationship angst to qualify for the romance category. Keep up the great work, Mr. DeLeo.

Still a lot of action packed into a story as usual, Mike with another love interest, another Monster Inc lady having a hissy fit because of competition, just another day at the office.

The new idea partner seems to be getting tired of never being the focus of Mike’s attention! While the gang removes vermin and even recruits a new member, it is the scorned one they better keep their eye on! Thanksgiving awaits, but I can’t wait!

I think there are two things which make a book great, that is you can't put it down to its very end and you want the next one right now just like the hole Demon series.
Forgot to mention the great humour.

After reading and rereading Bernard's other series I took a second look at Demon. I don't understand why it didn't interest me. Guess it doesn't matter now

after finishing book 9. And it only took me about 3 weeks of so. Good thing I am retired. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.
