Review
Good sci-fi romance with interesting political and social Farseek world-building! SBee Reviews
Some near death experiences add angst to the storyline that is already filled with steamy passion and exciting moments. A stand alone that draws a lot of interest about previous books within the same universe. Excellent! PPeters
From the Author
The Farseek Mercenary series was told in the first person in the voices of the main characters as their personal logs. Kragyn is written in the third person to give a broader view of the setting and the characters. I condensed some of the material at the start of the book because it was covered more than once in the Farseek Mercenary series.
As an Indie author, I work hard to give readers the best possible stories I can. Please take a minute to look inside the book before you read any reviews. Not everyone will like any given book, but many people have read and enjoyed Kragyn. Thanks for reading.

About the author

Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics. She attended science fiction and fantasy conventions where she met many well known science fiction authors and attended their readings and discussion panels. They included scifi greats Anne McCaffery, CJ Cherry, George RR Martin, Ben Bova, Timothy Zahn, Frederik Pohl, Orson Scot Card.
After years of fruitless efforts to get her books published traditionally, she discovered Kindle Direct Publishing and became an Indie author-publisher.
While she loves scifi, she always thought there should be more romance so she started writing it hot and steamy.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2019This was a well written, sexually explicit Sci-Fi book, filled with lots of love and a grand battle near the end. Not to mention a proper happy ending.
The heroine and hero had been dropped on the planet Julconi, which was filled with some really horrible people, mostly criminals that had taken over when those in charge abandoned the planet. (However there are some good people on the planet as well.)
Kragyn was dumped on the planet many years before. However, Reanne just got dumped on the horrid planet where women require a strong protector or they’ll be cruelly abused and used.
Fortunately, Kragyn recognized the scent of his mate at once, or in his language, Solmatu. Nor is the attraction one-sided. Reanne feels very strongly towards the handsome fellow who saved her. (So much so, that this story is not for young people.)
However, it’s a grand novel for adults who love Suspenseful, Sci Fi Romances.
The detail was fabulous. The battle at the end was most exciting and the bad person that has been causing so much trouble gets his comeuppance. Which means: It has a happy ending.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020I liked the world building and the characters but felt like the story kind of dragged a bit. It didn’t keep my attention enough to read without stopping which is rare for me. But I stuck with it hoping for more excitement but it never got any more exciting, even the action scenes were not really exciting. I gave it 4 stars because it has potential and I have read Clarissa’s work before and know she’s written books I’ve really enjoyed. This just wasn’t one of them.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2020I struggled to read to the end of the book. Sentence structure was disjointed, timing jumped around from paragraph to paragraph without being clear that it was moving to a different scene. Parts of the book didn't have enough description both of characters, places and events taking place. Some of the dialogue was so stilted it made me feel like I was reading a simple child's book. The premise of the story had a lot of potential it just felt as if the plot and characters could have been developed a lot more. The beginning of the book was the slowest, there didn't seem to be a point to anything happening. Throughout the book there were way too many sex scenes as though just stuck in there to pass the time. I kept reading hoping it would get better. Around the 60% point of the book it got easier to read and there was more action. But things still felt too rushed and not descriptive enough. Wish I could have rated this higher at least for the effort the author made. This is the lowest rating I've ever given a book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2020Nicely written book with an interesting premise. The action moved from one planet to another, easily. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2019I love a good sci-fi romance and this one certainly fits the bill! As a spin-off of the Farseek Mercenaries, it is a fabulous book! The brutal fights in the arena of the planet used as a dumping ground for criminals and unruly slaves of the enemy Sargan Empire. This is where Kragyn finds his solmatu, his soulmate. An earthling stolen from her home planet Earth. Their attraction is instant, and love happens quickly as their bonding grows ever stronger. They are happy to have each other and have little hope of being rescued. But Farseek warriors, searching for their missing people, come to the rescue. Some near death experiences add angst to the storyline that is already filled with steamy passion and exciting moments. A stand alone that draws a lot of interest about previous books within the same universe. Excellent!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2019Kragyn's world was attacked and he was made a slave. But he is a Farseek Warrior and not a slave and has ended up on the prison planet. Reanne was abducted from earth and sold into slavery. But instead of being tortured and killed, she killed her captor. She has ended up on the prison planet. The fates have brought them together and they are mates. Now they'll have to survive on the prison planet as they attempt to build a new life. But nothing is ever easy.
I enjoyed the story although I took off a point because I felt that the story resolved a bit too quickly. Still I would recommend the book. There were two characters who were well matched and had an instant connection that only grew. Together they could face anything. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2019This was a nice long read. Not much action, it focused more on the life of Kragyn and Reanne on the prison planet, it was not an easy life but they made the best from what they have. The most important is that they found and have each other. It’s how they survived and then rescue came and they were given the freedom to chose their life.
It was a long read but I never got bored though it took me days, with breaks, to read this.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2022I think the story line was a good idea but I just didn't get as into this book as I have others in this genre. I found myself getting distracted by some of the writing errors. At times, because of errors or certain word choices it felt like the book was written by someone really young or by someone whose primary language is not English. It wasn't bad at all just a bit odd and distracting at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars warrior
Kragyn is a Farseek Warrior, when his world was attacked and he was made a slave. Kragyn ends up on the prison planet.
Reanne is kidnapped from Earth and sold to an alien who abuse and kill women. She has ends up on the prison planet. That is where Kragyn and Reanne are brought them together and find that they are mates. Now they'll have to survive on the prison planet as they attempt to build a new life. But nothing is ever easy.
I loved the narration of Craig Bowles

4.0 out of 5 stars Wrong place
Wrong place wrong time. A short walk home turned into a nightmare, only it was all too real. Abducted and abused what more could happen.
