Frank Kelso grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, the origin of the Santa Fe Trail. Historic sites, monuments, and statues abound highlighting the journey west, including the Wagons West, Pioneer Women and the Indian Scout located on the bluffs overlooking the wide Missouri. Writing western themed books fit in with his upbringing. His parents considered storytelling a family tradition and the taller the tale, the better, when sharing around the supper table. A biomedical research scientist in his day job, Frank writes short stories and novels to keep the family traditions alive. He enjoys living on an island on the Alabama Gulf Coast at the Florida border. Can you say Flora-Bama Beach Bar? Welcome to Paradise Island: sunny days, sugar white sands, turquoise blue water, fishing, and smooth sailing. Come on down, Y’all.

A well written and action packed western incorporating a good portion of the history of mining.

Zach comes to Colorado to mine for gold. He finds friendships more precious than gold among the Colorado miners.

This is a story of adventure and of friendship. A story of men working together for the betterment of all.

You will experience claim jumpers, night riders, outlaws, narrow escapes and lots of great western action.

I loved the characters Zach, Henri, Matt, Cameron, Jefferson and all the others . The history was interesting and the book kept me reading.

I recently finished reading Zach's Gold by Frank Kelso. It's been awhile since I've read this type of novel and I'm glad I did. Frank created an interesting plot with larger-than-life characters, particularly Zach. Follow his exploits as he hunts for gold, helps others to form a consolidated mining corporation to fight off claim jumpers, with any apparent need to be compensated, just doing what he thinks is right.

A real page turner and fans of Westerns will truly enjoy this story. This is the first novel I've read written by Frank and won't be the last!

This book kept me involved and, since I don't know anything about gold mining, it made me think. I had to reread passages to do with the miners building their redoubts (thanks for the picture!) and really concentrate on descriptive passages. I've learned a lot and enjoyed it. I wouldn't mind reading his other books

Frank Kelso does it again but even better with his latest western novel. This is the third book I've read by this author, and it won't be my last.
Zach's Gold takes us to the Colorado mining fields as the no-nonsense Zach turns to hunt for gold in South Park. Standing in the way of claim jumpers, mule thieves and anybody else that takes a mind to damper his intentions. This action-packed story is loaded with adventure. Kelso's part two of the Jeb & Zach Series is a must read. You won’t be disappointed. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
