I like my heroes to be a bit on the dark side,maybe a little tattered around the edges, but stark and strong and uncompromising. Engel Storm stands unbowed in the face of whatever comes at him. He shines like the light to vanquish all darkness. I've always liked Stormy, he's affable and effective and he always rises to the occasion. But I've never done anything more than just like him, really. Until now.

After this book, I am officially a giant fan of Engel Storm. Not because he shows a dark side in this book, but because he is so utterly possessed of such awe-inspiring grace in the face of, well, pretty much anything you could possibly imagine. He is Superman and I don't think I've ever loved him more.

I can't really tell you much about what happens in this book except that Elora is tested, yet again, against her heritage and those around her find new and previously unknown strength in the face of adversity in order to help protect her. We get to meet a new motley crew of Knights that are more than a little intriguing. And there is so much lost and so much gained.

This book is an epic song. It absolutely entranced me right from the start. You know those songs that reach in with fingers made of wishes and wrap around your heart and before you know it, you're a different person with a different point of view? This book is one of those.

Victoria Danann is brilliant and she has absolutely outdone herself with this book. To say that it's gorgeous is vastly inadequate. To say that this is one of those books that I will want to keep with me, right up next to the skin, for the rest of my life, comes closer.

    A storm is brewing in the Black Swan world. Maybe even two.
    Storms and Litha's daughter, Rosie, is growing up fact. Really fast. Apparently between both her parents having demon blood in their veins and Litha's being part witch, that made for some potent mixing of genes. Rosie is smart and beautiful and she has one the hearts of all. Even the Glenn loves babysitting her. Then all bets are off the day she becomes a grown women.
    Engle Storm is lost. I mean really lost. One moment he's with Deliverance riding the passages the next Storm has slip through his hands. Now Storm is lost in another dimension. Not to worry Deliverance will find him (or his daughter will kill him). Deliverance seeks out his mother (an angel) for help.
    One minute Angel Storm is about to be kill by thugs, the next he finds himself being handed over to a beautiful that is relieved to see him. His life was spared and he is now in the arms of a beautiful woman. The day is looking up for Angel.
    Storm needs to get to his home dimension before Rosie grows up without him.
    Glenn is being groomed (and it's not because he's one quarter werewolf) to become the next Sovereign of Jefferson Unit. Solomon has is retiring and decided now is the time to go a extended vacation with Fansworth. So Glenn has to run the unit while he's gone. Everything should run smoothly with help of B Team.
    Z team has a rep. And it's not good. Their the anarchists of the well ordered and disciplined world of the Knights, but they don't care. They're badass, emphasis on ASS. There is cost to be paid for being the lone wolf team.
    Elora's life is on the line when plot to assassinate her comes to fruition. Everyone rallies to protect and her son, Helm. Including her students, but without Solomon to lead things don't look to good for the unit.
    This is another winner. It's fast paced and funny.

    A definite WIN, WIN!! Found myself once more swept into the lives of members of the Black Swan, assorted allies and my favorite demon Deliverance. For me one of the best things about this series is that Ms. Danann doesn’t abandon the characters I came to love in MY FAMILIAR STRANGER. She has thankfully seen that Elora, Ram, Storm, and Kay (Kay is included to a lesser degree), continue have rolls to play in each of the books in the series. Even as new protagonists come on the scene old friends are not forgotten.

    GATHERING STORM, fifth book in the series, gives insight into what happened in Stagsnare dimension moments after Elora was pushed, by Monq, into the interdimensional travel machine. Ralengclans are not going to give up the search for Elora. While the Ralengclans perfect plans for attack in the Loti dimension (dimension Elora ends up with the Black Swan), Deliverance makes a monumental mistake while transporting Storm through the passes. Glen is acting Sovereign of the Jefferson Unit and he is going to be faced with challenges that would have been extreme complications even for Sol. Have an interesting situation come up between Rosie and Glen, and that’s all I’m giving you on the storylines. Mean, yeah, but as usual there are so many twist and turns throughout the novel that to give you more would ruin the surprises.

    Humor, unexpected revelations, emotional involvement with characters, and exquisite details are only a few of the elements that make this series a must read. If you enjoy the paranormal that is explained in such a way that it seems reasonable, then you will love this series as much as I do.

    Highly RECOMMEND to anyone 18 and older. Contains sexual situations, violence, and extreme language.

    This series just gets better with each book.

    Storm and Litha's daughter, Rosie, grows faster than a normal baby. She's half witch, half demon. At the end of a week, she's already 3 years old. When Deliverance, Litha's dad, accidentally drops Storm in the passes while taking him to work one morning, everyone panics because the likelihood of finding him isn't good. Deliverance finds Storm's doppelganger in another dimension, thinking it's his son-in-law; only he's not. Angel Storm is the exact opposite of Storm. He took a wrong turn in his life and has been making bad choices ever since. Now he's pretending to be Storm until they can find the real Storm.

    Meanwhile, Rosie is now 6 years old and Elora, Ram, and Kay are training Angel to be a knight. When assassins from Elora's world come back to try and kill her again at Jefferson Unit, the young trainees, Elora, Angel, and Glen are the only ones there to fight them off.

    When the real Storm is found by his now 23 year old daughter, he comes back to a happy wife and a battle to fight.

    I don't know how this author manages to keep writing about the same characters and winning our hearts over and over again. Rock on Storm, Ellora, Rammel and the rest of them because they remain as fascinating five books down the track as the very first one I read.

    There is such a 'niceness' to the characters and to the unfolding events that is a tribute to the writer. These people have principle and fight hard but love equally as hard. The sex scenes are very tame compared to many books out there and yet there is never a doubt about the 'hotness' those involved feel for each other. Moreover what an imagination to draw all the worlds these creatures live in together so that it makes sense even when you think you have lost the plot. I did a few times but kept going and sure enough it all became clear and I was so happy I had accepted the challenge.

    I love this author, she is very clever because she works with a connection to the reader in every page.

    Firstly, I like to congratulate Victoria on managing to write yet another wonderful book in this series. Often, by the time you get to third or fourth book in a series, the plot gets a bit tired and you just want to skip to how it ends. However, this 5th book is as fresh and brilliant as the previous 4. I so did not want it to end. Every character is real to me, I can see them smile, interact with each other and they feel like friends. When I started reading it, it felt like coming home.

    There is a lot going on in this 5th installment of an ongoing story.

    THE NEWSLETTER: Z Team, a.k.a Zed Company, is transferred to Jefferson Unit, which is being temporarily retired as an active hunter facility and converted to a research / training institution. Sol takes his first vacation – ever – leaving Glen in charge with Storm supervising. Rosie is proving to be an extraordinary little girl and Deliverance is in BIG trouble with her mother.

    THE SURPRISES: Storm is really not himself. Former members of B Team must reunite to preserve his image and reputation. No one could have prepared for the surprises Rosie delivers.

    THE ADVENTURE: The Ralengclan send a second wave assassination team to Jefferson Unit at the worst possible time, when it’s been left defended by only Z Team, Glen, the Lady Laiken, Sir Fennimore, and the trainees.

    This book left me feeling emotional, always sign of a good one, in so many ways. I laughed, a lot and cried some, became anxious and then relieved. So, so glad that I know another is in the pipeline and can't wait to visit with my friends some more in the future.

    Omy what a book. I thought the previous books in the series were really really good but wow this one tops it's counterparts. With all that's going on with Rosie and her abilities and the possibility of another attack they couldn't afford the class A mess up by deliverance but he managed a massive one and then maid it worse omg what a turn of events. I'm glad that Glen managed to keep his head above water in the role he was entrusted with amongst falling in love which was a shocker I didn't see that coming but very pleased it did. I'm glad that we got to hear about all the character we've come to love throughout the series. There's some sad moments in this one that had me in tears, it's got lots of action and keeps you needing to know what's going to happen next. Hats of to Victoria danann you've done it again what an amazing series. Can't wait until December for the next book.
