    Okay, a couple of things first: I have not finished reading this one yet because I had to sleep sometime. That doesn't matter because I'm not going to tell you the story line anyway. That's up to you. Second, this might be kind of rambling as a review but stick with me a few minutes.

    Victoria Dannan is a pretty prolific writer and I have been reading her stuff for a long time, maybe from the beginning. She has a couple of series, the New Scotia books which are pretty good, the Exiled series is pretty good too. The Prince of Demon series has not hooked me yet but I think maybe I just never got fully involved in them. Then there's the Black Swan series, which is what started it all.

    In all fairness, I think reading "Falcon' might be something of an undesirable effort... unless you go back to the beginning. Get "My Familiar Stranger" and start there. I think it might even be available at no charge. Then read your way all the way up to "Falcon." Yes, that will take a while. Yes, that will cost you a few bucks... okay, quite a few books. Relax, it will be worth it and the author can probably use the income. Now about "Falcon."

    It just popped up, a day or so ago, because when I got the announcement it was coming, I put in my pre-order with Amazon. I did not start it immediately and should not have started it at all. Why? I was reading a new book already (alright, maybe two new books) and was involved and enjoying them. I want to finish them. And I probably will get right on that but not until I finish Falcon! Yep, I opened it, read a couple of paragraphs, looked up and it was 1:30 a.m. and I am well over halfway through. I will finish it today. It hooked me from the start.

    I don't how far in advance she (the author) started building this story line but it must have been a long time. This book has a couple of hooks that go all the way back to "Stranger" which is why I said go to the beginning and start reading. There are references to the developing story all through this book, just as I am sure there have been in all the Black Swan books. I'm sure I have said this about some of her other books in this series (maybe all of them) but this one is the best book she has written. And the best news? It sounds/feels like this is the first book and a new series/direction within the Black Swans. AWESOME. The bad news? I'm sure it will take her a while to write the next one because story lines this involved and complex don't just happen overnight but I will be ready for the next one by tomorrow. Or later today. It is that good and books this good only come along every so often. I am not usually a binge reader.

    So bottom line... it is "just another" in the Black Swan series - just another great book, by an awesome author, in an impressive series. If you don't get involved with this story line, you will miss a truly great reading opportunity that will capture you and keep you entertained and involved for many nights and early mornings. Buy them all, read them all, thank me later... or after "My Familiar Stranger" because you'll be hooked. And remember, everything here builds on book one and gets better and better.

    I so enjoyed this book.
    1st time since I was in high school that I ugly sobbed over a book. (Mrs. Mike.)
    I Cried over Carnal. But Not like this one.
    I was so invested in this book. Victoria Danann took me to another hemisphere.
    When Jimmie (My Husband) came in to check on me, and he said is it the book. I just nodded my head. Victoria did it again. Made me cry!
    I want to share a quote from this book that touched me right to the heart.
    (The sound of laughter coming from further in the room shocked Falcon enough to cause his head to jerk in that direction. It was Elora, leaning on Ram and laughing at something he or one of the others had said. That laughter caused his stomach to clench. It also made him breathe a little faster. That was when he knew. And there it is. That thing that Monq kept asking him about in the weekly sessions he still kept. What did he want? What did he want? What did he want? That’s what he wanted. To laugh, even when there wasn’t much to laugh about. Maybe have somebody to hear it and treasure it. That laughter. It was like a little gift from the gods, a bit of stardust fallen to a world where there was little to be happy about. And he wanted it. Bad. He tried to remember the last time he’d laughed and realized it had been so long that he might not know how. His eyes slid over to Wakey who was chatting up the guy tending bar. Wakenmann had never forgotten how to laugh. He didn’t even realize it was special, magical. He just took it for granted. That’s what Falcon wanted, to laugh so long and so hard and so often that he took it for granted.)

    I also fell in love with Jaxon Kell the Vampire.. I loved his sense of Humor.

    This was a great installment in this series. Very brave and yet more real, not as fluffy. Don’t want to reveal big plot points so I won’t get into details.

    Again, one of the things that I dislike about Victoria’s work is that it is so well written, but just my opinion, she starts this mad dash to “wrap things up” in a neat bow. It’s like she ran out of steam in the home stretch or is coming up on a deadline and truncates the storyline, wraps those last few outstanding details in a few paragraphs and it is like “and they lived happily ever after.”

    So much of the fleshing out of the story suddenly gets dismissed for some reason. Again, I have noticed this particular pattern in the last few books and even commented on it once before.

    Regardless, she is an awesome writer and this particular story was well developed and written. Overall, great job.

    im in shock and emotionally drained, this is up there at the top of my favorite reads.
    it was really good to see falcon falling in love after his awful dilemma with the previous operations manager.
    were introduced to jax in this one and he seems amazing i cant wait to read his story, it was about time Black Swan had most of the cards in there hands and are finally on the up.
    then i come to a totally and utterly shocking didnt see that one coming read, warning there will be tears and then through out the tears a magical moment that has you remember what was said in the mess hall.
    absolutely loved reading it.

    I just love the way Victoria writes, it is so different than anyone else. You fall in love with each character as they are given a more prominent position and start to be intrigued about new ones just revealed. My only complaint, the deaths of ones you've just fallen in love with and are hoping for their tale.
