Wayne Kerr was born and raised in Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada (New York is big, but this is Biggar). Wayne spent twenty years living in the USA but has returned to Canada and now makes his home in the beautiful Okanagan region of British Columbia. The author of several books including: Braking Point, intensive Formula racing; Dead Ringers, A Pinot Noir to Die For and Murder on the Okanagan Express in the Black Swann Investigation series; Ric-A-Dam-Doo, a Special Forces thriller; for younger readers 'The X + Y Files' paranormal mystery series; Dwelf Guardian of the Realms, a middle-earth style adventure. When not reading or writing mystery/thrillers he is probably hiking, kayaking or playing pickleball.

The 'Black Swann Investigation' series features Reggie Swann, formerly Toronto's best and brightest homicide detective until she was framed for murder. After surviving ten brutal years behind bars, she's back. No longer a cop, living in Penticton, Reggie leaves no stone unturned as she becomes Canada's favorite Private Detective. Set in one of Canada's most beautiful locations, with unforgettable characters and nearly unsolvable murders, mystery readers will love this series.

Ric-A-Dam-Doo - retired Special Forces soldiers don't just fade away. Once a Snow Devil, always a Snow Devil! When a pair of teenaged girls are kidnapped and smuggled into Mexico the police and FBI investigations are stopped at the border. Former soldier PB Reese and his wife Janet Reese, a retired Interpol agent. will cross that line and any other they must to return the girls to their families before they vanish forever, doomed to a life of depravity.

One of Wayne's goals is to get more young people off the internet and into a good book.

The 'X + Y Files' series are children's chapter books for kids 9-12. Stories that capture the imagination. 'Monsters and Miracles' is an action adventure book with a surprise paranormal twist. 'Kristin's Ghost' is a paranormal mystery, solved using good old fashioned detective skills, with a hint of first crush and first kiss. 'Escape from Area 51' will blend science fiction into the above mix of adventure, mystery and the paranormal.

The 'Dwelf, Guardian of the Realms' series is for tweens and teens. Book 1 - The Book of Spells is a fantasy novel for kids 11-14. A teen, from our modern world, must face dragons, elves, dwarves, ogres and magic as she realizes her destiny, in this fast paced, middle-earth action fantasy.

This story and Wayne’s writing are so good! I was sad and happy to read the last page.
I wanted more! More about Reggie and her survival instincts, more of her growing crew that surrounds her with love and respect.
I wanted more of Wayne's adept plotting. The scene-setting is easy to visualize, the action is clear and the dialogue is quite humorous at times. Reggie and the supporting cast come across as quite real.
This is such an enjoyable read, I award 4.9 stars to “A Pinot Noir to Die For”.

Wayne A.D. Kerr delivers a truly entertaining mystery.

Excuse me, while I grab a drink, brb.... Hey, thanks, so Reggie Swann has re-entered the professional investigation field after a rather prolonged stay at a correctional facility. She had been a Homocide Detective for Toronto Police and was wrongfully accused for a crime. Now, she is back fighting crime, working for herself and has a whole lot of support doing so. She has returned to her home town, Okanagan, a little hamlet in British Columbia, Canada, living with her widowed mom. Though she's been exonerated, she refused her old job on the force still harboring a tad bit of bitterness for living in lockup for 8 years, 2 months, particular toward those who chose to believe she was guilty. Presently surrounded by old friends, who knew she wasn't guilty and a new boyfriend, Alan, she is ready to start over.

What she missed while away, the newest winery in the community and also one of the most popular in Canadian Wine County. When she is hired to do a private investigation by the newly widowed, after the police rule that her famous husband death was accidental death, Reggie dives in. Milo Getz's death is mourned throughout the country. He had been a legendary rocker and leader of Aurora, one of Canada's most famous bands back in the day. There first hit, Butterface skyrocketed them to fame and his winery and wine bear its title. Though he was new to wine, many didn't know that his wife was a third generation vintner hailing from Tasmania. Together, they had not only proven that they could make good wine but that they could out compete many in the community. Butterface had had their tenth anniversary party and then Milo was found face down in his newest brew, still kept top secret.

Although on the surface everyone loves Milo, for he has brought such success to their efforts, some resent Milo for a variety of reasons. Reggie begins in standard operating procedure, friends, neighbors, other vintners and of course, those who didn't care for Milo which included many resenting Aurora's fame particularly over their lyrics which were distasteful (pun intended). The most hated, was "Butterface" which focused on a needing two bags during a certain activity for which more than one high school girl was taunted after the song's release. However, Milo's image was just to sell CD's and he wasn't truly that bad boy tough, it was an image he projected to his fan base.

Reggie is persistent and her instincts are on display, among those seemingly happy with Milo, a few actually harbor some deep grudges. Are they worth killing for? Or could it be a fan with an ax to grind? Read it to find out!

Refill please! Oh, and this is part of a series, which I didn't know and was perfect as a standalone.

I really enjoyed this unusual mystery. The protagonist is Reggie (Regina) Swann, a former Toronto homicide detective who was recently released from prison. She served 10 years but was exonerated and upon her release started her own private detective agency in her home town, a small town in the Okenagon Valley in British Columbia (I looked up this unfamiliar area....what a beautiful location!).

Reggie is asked to investigate the death of a controversial rock star who has retired to run a winery in the area. Even though the coroner ruled the death accidental (he drowned in a wine vat), his widow is convinced he was murdered. There is a large pool of suspects for Reggie to sift through which she does in a competent, systematic manner aided by her friend Hannah a chief law enforcement professional who harbors her own doubts about the coroner's ruling.

I enjoyed learning more about the wine industry and the British Columbia setting. But my favorite was the strong female protagonist in Reggie who honed her survival skills in prison. I can imagine a mystery series developing from this book and definitely would enjoy reading more about Reggie and her detective exploits.

I received an ARC from the publisher for an honest review.

Wine and a cozy mystery what’s not to like. A former cop and then ex-con turned private investigator working to clear her name. It was a good easy read and the characters and dialogue was relatable. Took me a minute to realize it was book 2 but it can be read as a stand-alone.
I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Reggie Swann spent 8 years in a Canadian jail for a crime she did not commit. Her mother spearheaded the effort to exonerate Reggie and was successful. When she was released, Reggie refused her old job in the Toronto police department and returned to her small town in Western Canada. She then opened the Black Swan Detective agency.

That area of Western Canada had many small wineries. One of the more famous wineries was Butterface wineries. It was owned by a retired rock musician, Milo Getz. His wife, Mavis, was the daughter of wine makers in Tasmania and knew a great deal about growing grapes. With her expertise, the assistance of an expert wine maker and Milo’s talent for publicity, Butterface Wines were a great success.

So after a well attended party to celebrate the winery’s success, Milo was found struck in a large wine vat. The police had ruled Milo’s death an accident but Mavis was certain it was murder. She hired Reggie to investigate the death. Once Reggie started investigating, she became convinced that it was murder. She eventually discovered who the murder was.

This book takes place in an area of Canada that many Americans are unfamiliar with. I had not heard of Canadian wines either. However I enjoyed learning about the area and wine making. This is the second book in the Black Swann series. It kept my interest and I look forward to reading another book in the series.

I loved the book and the series! Its very well thought out and written so as to pull you into the lives of the characters.

Reggie is great! You really feel like you get to know her. She's smart, kind, loyal, loving, brave, and at the same time vulnerable and guarded.

The plot is engaging and unpredictable.

I really love the down to earth way that Wayne writes.
