Frank Kelso grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, the origin of the Santa Fe Trail. Historic sites, monuments, and statues abound highlighting the journey west, including the Wagons West, Pioneer Women and the Indian Scout located on the bluffs overlooking the wide Missouri. Writing western themed books fit in with his upbringing. His parents considered storytelling a family tradition and the taller the tale, the better, when sharing around the supper table. A biomedical research scientist in his day job, Frank writes short stories and novels to keep the family traditions alive. He enjoys living on an island on the Alabama Gulf Coast at the Florida border. Can you say Flora-Bama Beach Bar? Welcome to Paradise Island: sunny days, sugar white sands, turquoise blue water, fishing, and smooth sailing. Come on down, Y’all.

FK./JW. Have penned a western action adventure which begins with Juan Fortuna massing his men to take across the border. His primary interest is the two men who killed his brother. The Mexican, American and the people of Texas know he is going to cross the border. Preparation are made by everyone, but the thoughts are individual as opposed together. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

A good read if you like action. Thought it was a bit of a stretch in some cases; like when Jeb is injured to the point of near fainting from loss of blood, then leaves on a horse the next day to ride for hours. All in fun I guess.

This is a truly enjoyable read for anyone who enjoys the history of the Old West. There are murders, shootings, and the rescue of Becky. There is a lot of detail describing gun fights, fist fights, and the life in general in small Western town. This would make a great movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to follow
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 3, 2021
It could be me but I found this book, the third of the series difficult to engage with, and hard to follow. Most of the time I had no idea who the many side characters were, or where everyone was going during their confrontations. A pity as I enjoyed Jeb and Zach and their repartee in the first book of the series. To my mind this last tale needed better editing as the reader cannot be fully interested if they cannot fathom what is happening and to whom.
