Twisted: Tangled Web 1: Sparrow Webs 4 Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 1,496 ratings

To the world, I no longer exist.
The life I live occurs outside the third dimension—a memory, a ghost, the boogeyman, or perhaps simply a figment of the imagination. When I’m passed on the street, there is no connection. No eye contact. I’m the one whose presence leaves a cold chill of uncertainty, quickly erased by minds who don’t want to acknowledge that men like me exist.
On the dark web, I’m known as Kader, and for the right price, I will do what others can’t or won’t.
I’ve learned to exist within the hard shell I’ve created—until I see her.
Laurel Carlson.
Her blue eyes see beyond my impenetrable exterior. Her sensual lips long to be kissed and her hidden curves caressed. My mind is obsessed and my body ignited. Though I exist outside her comfort zone, I must enter her world, take the chance, and learn what it is about this beautiful, intelligent, and marked woman that has me entranced—before her time is up.

From New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes her most dangerous anti-hero yet, set in the dark and dangerous underworld of Chicago. It's time to get caught in this intriguing romantic suspense saga, Tangled Web.

TWISTED is book one of the TANGLED WEB trilogy which continues in OBSESSED and concludes in BOUND.

"There is no other author that can make me happy with a dark, complicated, keep me on the edge of my seat story. She plunged me right into the complex story of, Laurel Carlson, a researcher on the verge of completing her work and Kader, the man hired to stop it. There are no lighthearted moments, no funny banter, no quirky best friend for tension relief. There is just Aleatha Romig and her brilliant storytelling. And that makes me deliriously happy." ~

Twisted & Tangled
Twisted is definitely the best title for this heart pounding story. Aleatha will have you gripping the edges until you can turn the page. I really couldn't put it down. Characters are amazing. Mystery man Kader is mouth watering sexy. Laurel is nerdy but sexy. These two are combustible when in proximity. He was hired to do a job, but once he sees his mark something changes. Laurel doesn't understand what's about to happen to get and change her life. Laurel does know that she is attracted to her captor/savor but why? All i know it's can't wait for the next installment of Tangled Web. Scorching hot suspenseful story. A must read with 5 instead of stars! This is just the beginning.

On the edge through the whole book is the most accurate description of reading this book. So convoluted I hated to stop reading when it got so late at night I had to. Twisted is absolutely correct as the name for this book or episode of this trilogy.
I want to finish this review so I can at least start Obsession tonight. My heart sure goes out to Laurel with all that has been happening to and around her. This is such a mystery...

Twisted (Tangled Web Book 1) by Aleatha Romig

You know you are in for a roller coaster ride when Aleatha is steering and a series called Tangled Web. She won’t let you down!

Laurel and Russ’s relationship was friends with benefits. They worked well together and trusted each other. They had each other’s backs. That is until the twisted story line starts with the fund raiser for their research and it’s benefits. There’s more to Stephanie, Laurel’s assistant, than what Aleatha give us in Twisted.

Laurel’s hairs raised when she saw Kader at the fundraiser. The magnetism between the two of them dripped. Laurel’s neck hairs raised and her panties got wet. There was something between them and Aleatha made sure you could feel it as you read her words.

Throughout Twisted, Kader continued mention “his mission”. He never spelled it out. Never said it. Until the cliff hanger! Shame on you Aleatha. Now making us wait.....hanging....tormented....

Aleatha only has dripping hot, sexy men in her books and they all have stories that will twist you up. I have a mental note of Kader’s past. I’m not going to lay it out there. I’m going to see if I’m right.

If you haven’t been Aleatha’s yet, grab Twisted. You will not be disappointed!

    Twisted by Aleatha Romig

What a ride! this book has everything you could ever imagine from Aleatha Romig.

The intensity of this book was tangible, my pulse would race and then I would have to take a deep breath and take a step back while it eased that is how good this story was and how enticing it was to read.

Kader is a powerful man, his mannerisms, his look; his whole being just screams power. At first I was not sure if he was a good or bad guy and to be honest I still can’t tell, however, what I can say is that the mystery behind him keeps you reading and constantly on your nerves as to what will happen next.

I do like Kader, for all his mystery there is something about him that draws me to him, maybe it is because he is mysterious or maybe because he has that bad boy attitude but there is something I like about him.

“I was mesmerized. Her blue eyes stared at the camera, staring at me through the screen – seeing me in a way that even I was incapable of doing”
This showed me a vulnerable side of Kader that made me believe he was human and capable of feelings.

Laurel is a great character, maybe a bit naive in her way of thinking but let’s face is some of us are when it comes to people we care about and respect. No matter what she is dealing with, she is strong enough to do what needs to be done and is a very determined woman. I do feel that she is in a position that she didn’t want but she is trying to do the best she can and figure out what is going on.

“I’d felt safe with him, but now I didn’t know exactly what I was feeling”
I loved this quote as it summed up exactly what the book is like, it is Twisted. One moment Laurel feels safe, next moment she is scared.

Aleatha as normal has done an amazing dark, twisted book. She has kept me on my toes from page one, not knowing right from wrong.

A master of mystery and deception is Aleatha and I love it.

My issue with this story is the MC Laurel. ***Possible spoilers ***
She is being told a contract is out on her life and acts like it's no big deal. She wants to go home and to the lab to work, and is to stupid to realize she is in danger. She never once acknowledged she is any danger. I got sick of her acting like the danger for her life in inconceivable. The entire time I was reading the book I kept asking "could someone really be that stupid" it's not like she had a sheltered life. That is what ruined the story for me.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this book. The beginning was long and slow with a lot of science and pharmaceutical information. I guess it was important to the story, but still a little boring. I feel really sorry for Laurel. It's scary how your life can change so fast. It's even scarier to think that people could come into your home when you are not there and basically install surveillance equipment without your knowledge. Kador is just a lost soul. Laurel has a major attraction to Kador. Not sure what is going to happen next or how or if she will ever have a normal life.
As usual, Aleatha's story telling is amazing.

Golly gosh have I just been Aleathad. Where does her fabulous brain extract such a deeply moving dark story from? Do I want to know. ? I however do love to read her excellent words which colour and depict such scenarios. We have Laurel a beautiful brainy research doctor looking for ways to help people with PTSD. We have multi characters involved that we meet fleetingly. Things may not appear as they are? We have Kader a deeply disturbed colourful individual who past is slowly being revealed. Or is it? We have a job, mission, involvement that leads on. This series has it all, dark drama, intrigue, romantic encounters, so hot the pages burn. Once started it flows so swiftly and as effortlessly that the reader is immediately immersed in the story and clinging on till the cliffhanger ending. Well do me Aleatha, you have such a way with words, that are so easy to digest, it leaves the reader hungry for the next instalment.

It was a bit difficult to read in spots but only because of keeping characters straight.
I need book 2 now. Aleatha got me again.
