Ok here we go, Are you 'Ready For Flynn'? I hope you are and I hope I can prepare you even a little bit for what you are about to experience, the gut wrenching turmoil Valerie goes through, the heart strings that are pulled for a young girl who is in love. The laugh out loud moments you will have when reading Flynn's comebacks and Valerie's quick wit. Valerie and Flynn are pulled together with feelings for each other, but with age difference and Flynn's friendship towards Martin he is torn with his feelings for both Valerie and Martin. His feelings towards Valerie are stronger than he can deal with, or feelings that he is used to at all. Life takes Flynn away in a different direction and away from them as a family.. Valerie is a girl who is well protected from the world by her brothers and family, but is also wise to the world. She is the only sister among her siblings and with her favorite brother Martin a constant always there by her side, her best friend, she thinks she can take on the world. That is until her world is turned upside down, (warning *) this is when you need the tissues! Flynn turns up for a shoulder Valerie needs to lean on, but does Valerie want Flynn in her life? Can she really trust him back in her life? What can one girl from a small town take? Valerie shows strength that Flynn has never seen before, and he wants her even more, but is it possible? Can she fit into his new life style? Is this the life Valerie wants? With an established career herself is the force and feelings between the two of them, she can not simply ignore it. Can she? I am so relieved this is part 1 and we have more to come, because I just don't want this story to end. Well done KL you have excelled yourself again, you do know you have a lot to live up to in part 2 don't you ;-)

    I loved this book, the characters, the storylines and every single word. K.L. Shandwick is a master with words, I enjoy her writing style, she creates beautiful stories that are moving and completely engrossing. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down. I adored these characters, Valerie Darsin is one impressive young lady, she has endured heartbreak in her young live and raised herself above it. She met Flynn when she was almost 16, her older brother brought him home for a holiday weekend. The two had chemistry, there was a magnetic pull trying to bring them together, but her older brothers warmed Flynn to keep his hands off, he respected their wishes, leaving her confused and feeling hurt. When tragedy strikes he returns to give his support but she is conflicted and not ready for him yet. Two years later she calls him telling him she needs him and comes immediately. I loved these two together, they were so good for each other. Valerie is quite mature for her age and has a good head on her shoulders. Same for Flynn, while being a successful rockstar not all is rosy in his career, some of the people who are supposed to be on his side have made life hell for him. A lot goes on in this book and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama and emotions, angst, heartbreak and loving romance. Thank you K.L. Shandwick for another great story and for the emotional rollercoaster ride.

    I listened to the Audible edition, Anne Marie Damman is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to live, give each their own voice and personality. She does an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to.     If you like emotional books like me, this one is for you! You will love it from the first page to the end. This book will make you cry and laugh, you even would want to kill some of the characters.
    Valerie Darsin is a fifteen years old girl who met Flynn, his brother best friend from college one holiday. The age diference it's a big problem for them at that time, so they went their separate ways until a tragedy bring them together again. They support each others but she is still too young. After two years of silence between them she finally is ready for him. When she call him for help he drops everything for her. Being a 18 yo girl with her own business she feel like an adult but the big bad world of rockers is something else.
    This book is well written, has some minor typos but that's it. It's easy to read, and the story is good, you would be able to connect to the characters, and they will make you part of their story. It's not a standalone so you will need to keep reading book #2 and #3.

    Where to begin with this story. At first glance you read this as a coming of age story. Well you would be wrong dead wrong. It may start out that way but then it quickly smacks you right between the eyes with real life situations you’re not prepared for. This story has so much grit and bite to it, you will more than sink your teeth in to it. You will devour it. This book has everything in it and so much more. I basically read this story in one day, not cause it’s a fast read. It isn’t. It was a lot to absorb, but I couldn’t put it down. I took notes along the way so I wouldn’t forget the parts that touched me. Then I stopped cause I knew I wouldn’t forget. The story is that good. There are parts to this story that are coming of age. It’ll take you back to when you were a teenage girl you’ll remember your times and most likely be able to identify with them. You’ll probably remember a time when your heart was broken. What it took to heal or maybe just deal. There is a line in the story that talks about first love. It moved me deeply cause I could I can remember that feeling so well. You never forget your first true love. While reading this story you’ll come upon tenderness, betrayal, forgiveness, sweetness, heat, raw emotional drama, a realistic portrayal of what the music business is like and trust, real blind trust, determination and fortitude.
    There is a part in the story that affected me so deeply it felt like my heart was falling out my chest and tears welled up in my eyes. The visual grief portrayed on paper ate away at my soul.
    One moment can change your life. In this story there are a few moments like that we are witness to. They can either make you or break you. That’s what makes this story so real. Cause life can change in an instant for good or bad. It usually does. You either roll with them and find out what you’re made of or get rolled over. The author incorporates all of this into this novel. Hate to repeat myself but that its what makes this book so real. Since I don’t want to give away spoilers I suggest you read the book. I’m guessing you can tell I loved this book.
    This is a series and I can not wait to read the second book. This is my first book by this author but it certainly won’t my last.

    I knew before I started reading this that is was probably going to be a tear jerker......understatement!! This book was an incredible rollercoaster of emotion. Did I need tissues? Absolutely, a whole ton of them. There were times of utter heart-break where I had tears streaming down my face, but it was equally balanced with humour, family banter, drama and an off the charts chemistry between two people who met just a little bit too soon before they were able to really act on it.

    I didn’t know very much about the story (other than the blurb) before I started and I’m glad, so I don’t want to give anything away here. I will say that the story built from the start. Valerie is very young for a lot of the book - 15/16. Her character really grows and develops throughout even though she only reaches 18 by the end. She has moments of immaturity in her actions and reactions, but they were totally in context. She acted her age and I’m pleased the author didn’t try to make her too mature. She felt real and I loved that, even if I didn’t always like what she did and said! There was so much depth to Flynn, I loved him more and more as the book went along. He really tried to do the right thing, even though it hurt. With all he went through, he was a beautiful man.

    I listened to the audio version and loved it, I couldn’t wait to get in my car each day to drive to work so I could listen more. The narrator was excellent and had a lovely expressive voice (all from Valerie’s POV)

    This was a fantastic start to the series. It kind of ends on a cliff hanger, but not a huge one but I’m going straight on to part 2. Flynn and Valerie are intriguing, strong, sexy and have such a strong bond. I can’t wait to find out what happens in their lives next. Highly recommended!

    This was such an angsty, raw, emotional and heart wrenching read that had me needing more and more.

    This story in told over a period of around two and a half years.
    Flynn and Valerie meet when Valerie’s older brother Martin brings Flynn home for Thanksgiving and sparky fly. The chemistry between these two is electric and instant. With Valerie being 15 (turning 16 in a few weeks) and Flynn being 19 there isn’t really any where a relationship can go between them with that age difference and also her brothers being so protective of her and not wanting anything to happen, so Flynn walks away out of respect for Martin and also to protect Valerie.
    When something heart wrenching happens Flynn is there to comfort Valerie and just be there for her, Flynn never stopped loving Valerie and even though she is 16 now he still needs to protect her and keep her safe from his life until she is ready.

    Two years later when Valerie is 18 she calls Flynn and says she needs him and is instantly there for her only this time he takes her with him and is not willing to give her up. Flynn has seen that Valerie is now stronger and more mature that she is ready for him and their relationship.

    Ahh the feeling I had reading this! I loved reading the banter between Flynn and Valerie, it had me laughing out loud. There were time I felt what Valerie was going through and was crying. The angst had me staying up all night just to see what happened next. The characters and everything they went throught were well written and realistic, it had me on such an emotional rollercoaster that I never wanted to leave.
    I am so ready to see where it all goes in part II.

    The story is quiet straightforward, nothing happening much. The book has been unnecessarily stretched in the beginning giving detailed family life of velarie. Post that both characters suddenly realize they r in love. I did not find their chemistry. Frankly there is not much material given to uby the author here for u to ponder and make u buy the next book, actually there is no need of a next book. Needless to say there is nothing like rock star romances we generally read. The first half Streches about valieries family, it's so long that u start waiting so when is flynn entering the story. Don't bother to read seriously not much to read I started turning pages and pages just to get to the end for the sake of it.

    What can one girl from a small town take? Valerie shows strength that Flynn has never seen before, and he wants her even more, but is it possible? Can she fit into his new life style? Is this the life Valerie wants? With an established career herself is the force and feelings between the two of them, she can not simply ignore it. Can she?

    I am so relieved this is part 1 and we have more to come, because I just don't want this story to end. Well done KL you have excelled yourself again, you do know you have a lot to live up to in part 2 don't you ;-)

    This is Flynn and Valerie's story and what a rollercoaster of a story it is. It's not your typical rockstar romance, focusing mainly on the relationship between these two characters and Valerie's family. The story starts out slow, giving us an insight into the loving bond Valerie has with her sometimes overprotective parents and siblings. On the cusp of adulthood, she is a typical frustrated teenager, desperate to be treated as a grownup whilst on occasion being unable to curb her immature responses. Flynn, whilst slightly older, recognises he also has his share of growing up to do. Flynn leaves Valerie behind to explore the whole new world which is opening up to him until a devastating event brings them into contact again.

    This book is packed full of description and when tragedy strikes, we feel all the pain and anguish along with those involved. I felt great empathy for this family and admit to shedding a few tears.

    This author is wonderful at allowing her characters to grow and I love how they mature and develop. By the end of the book, events and time have definitely changed this pair and their strength and resolve will no doubt stand them in good stead for the next part of their journey.

    An excellent five star read I definitely recommend.
