About the author

Amy K. McClung was born in Nashville, TN. She is the second oldest of four girls and occasionally suffers from middle child syndrome. She met the love of her life online in August of 2004, on his birthday of all days, and married him in September 2005. Currently they have no human children only the room full of colourful robots that transform into vehicles and the large headed Pop Funko’s who represent their favourite characters. Collecting movies, shotglasses, Pop Funkos, and dust bunnies are some of her favourite pastimes. She began writing in September of 2011 and independently published her first YA novel called Cascades of Moonlight, Book one of the Parker Harris Series the following May. - Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019It’s been two years since Manny lost the only woman he has ever loved and is still trying to move forward with his life. He hasn’t felt a connection to any other woman since then until he meets Perry.
Due to Perry’s social anxiety she is much more comfortable at home than anywhere else. When she does force herself to go out she tries to make the outing as quick as possible and to have minimal interaction with others but when she speaks to Manny he is the first person that doesn’t inspire fear.
This is an emotional story about two people who have isolated themselves from others for very different reasons but in each other they find a kindred soul. It is a story about love, healing and new beginnings. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This author is new to me and I was really excited to read this story. It touches on so many real issues and feelings that it was hard not to relate to many situations.
Manny is a heartbroken batchelor. The love of his life came into his world and vanished just as quick. They were supposed to have forever but Connie got her angel wings way too soon. Now he has her ghost and an ache in his heart until Perry knocks him for a loop.
Perry suffers from social anxiety. Even going to the store causes fear and panic attacks. She makes a point of leaving her house at least once a week regardless of how it makes her feel. On one outing she runs into Manny and flirts with him not understanding how she was able to do it. This chance meeting leads into another where they finally get a chance to meet.
Manny and Perry's story is a journey through healing the body mind and soul. Its absolutely beautiful how the relationship unfolds yet the ending felt really rushed. I feel that thing were missed and left unsaid. I would have loved to see the whole ending. All in all it's a good book with a beautifully heartbreaking backstory.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019I love this books, although it's a standalone I read about Manny and Connie in Across the Way. His story is a sad one but seeing him come to terms with his loss and grow was so worth it. I love Mrs. McClungs writing style. Her characters are very real and there's feeling on every page. This made me laugh, and almost made my cry. Watching these two deal not only with their personal issues but also growing as a couple was great. I hope we get more of these characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2019This was my first read from Amy, and after reading the blurb I was instantly into the storyline because I could really relate to it on a personal level as someone with severe anxiety. Perry was such a relatable character for me, and I could definitely understand her character better than most. I also really felt for Manny after how his last relationship ended and how he decided to put himself on the line after he finally feels something for another girl. The twists within this book really threw me through a loop because I was not expecting them, but it really added another level to the book and made it that much more enjoyable. Overall, this was a good read that I really related to.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019I enjoyed this story. Manny was a sweet, protective, loyal guy and knew how to accept life. He mourned his love but felt that she gave him a push to move on. Perry had her issues but she had the strength to move out of her comfort zone. I loved the two of them together as well as their friends around them, supporting them. I recommend this story.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019What an emotional roller coaster!
Perry is my person, while my anxiety isn't as bad, it's still there. It was described PERFECTLY! I love how Amy brings awareness to the unknown. Anxiety is a bugger and becoming more and more common but it's hard to talk about still.
The friendships in here are just amazing. Overcoming so many struggles!
Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019I was up all night with this book. It’s a must read and you are going to be hooked! I can’t wait for Amy’s next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2019The feels started on page 1 of this book. I love this series. So many emotional up and downs of happiness to ugly crying (which I believe makes it a great book if the author makes you ugly cry)
