    I absolutely loved this book wow. I truely love that for once the writer didn’t break them up whenever there was turmoil. They always found a way to work through the pain and Never threatened to leave the other. It is soooo refreshing to find a writer that is able to create such a realistic story and Force you to feel the passion. Because if so many other books you are always waiting for the breakup and I am so happy that I never had to have that in this book. Can’t wait for book 2 I am starting it right away!!!

    This is my first time reading this author. I enjoyed the book, storyline, and characters. The characters were really interesting and each vampires having special skills were a good difference. Shade is a warrior king to his coven and came to the states to help out an ally Alec. He is a vampire too but can walk in the day and is currently a senator who wants to be president. Shade and his Medici Warriors are what Alec must have to reach his goals. Whilst at one of Alec’s parties, Shade encounters a mortal female Kate. She is a wonderful and intelligent woman but not what Shade usually goes for. Shade doesn’t care, he just sees Kate in a way that he never has before. Kate has been hurt by previous relationships and is weary. She has practically swore off any males, yet there is a pull towards Shade. That is if she can muster up enough courage to actually converse with Shade. There are Triggers: related to supernatural beings fighting for power, wars, warriors, plus vampires like violence, blood, death, depression, etc. it’s a full story with world building. Read On!

These books are additive. I could not get enough. The characters and world are so very real that I could be reading for 5 mins. and be stepping right into that world. Shade Medici is a King, warrior, fearless, brave and driven to keep his people safe and his love for Kate is completely real with all the troubles and fears and everything that goes with it. There is betrayal, wars, loss and above all Love. There are tender moments, fighting, misunderstandings and still Love. Step into a world that gives you all the feels and make you never want to step out of it again. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS SERIES A 10+ IF I COULD. DON'T KEEP YOUR VAMPIRE KING WAITING!!!

    Perhaps I'm a sucker for a vampire story, no pun intended, but I was engrossed after the first few chapters. I won't recap the whole book, you can read the blurb for that. What I will say is it is well-written and I thought the story-line was phenomenal! At first, I was a bit taken aback at the amount of pages but it read as quick for me as a book with many fewer pages. Once I realized the book recapped scenes from different characters POV, it explained the quantity of pages, and it wasn't something I had encountered before but I also felt it enhanced the readers perception of everything each and every character was feeling throughout each event. This only happens selectively, when it's important to know what each character is thinking, seeing or feeling, not every single scene.
    If you have an intense aversion to colorful language and explicit sex scenes (including a tiny, tiny bit of M/M) then maybe this book is not for you, but if you want a gripping love story, full of bloody action, steamy erotic sex, filled with sexy lovable characters as well as villains you will loathe, and all the highs and lows that come along with that, then hold on tight because you are going to love this book! I have already started book 2, and it's off to a wild start as expected. Don't let the page count intimidate you. You won't even notice once you start reading!

    The story is captivating but extremely drawn out with unnecessary scenes. We probably needed some of the scenes for the future but holy hell it’s wordy for no reason. There are SO many repeated phrases! Also, the FMC’s speech changed to match the MMC’s completely once they got together. She went from speaking like someone born in modern times to someone born 500 years ago. The editing is none existent in terms of understanding who is saying what. Because this is a narrative type book it’s switches characters often, most times without context. Like I said, the story does seem like it will be interesting but I’m afraid nothing of interest will happen for a long time.

    This book had flashes of great writing but it just went on and one. Flipping between characters without warning. The most annoying thing was the habit of the woman to call Shade Lover. Over and over again in every paragraph. The drag of the boom is really due to the level of detail on every little thing.

    I was concerned when I saw the reviews for this book, but I’m glad I chose to go ahead with this read. Lots of the reviews said that some of the story was repetitive, I have to say it was not how reviewers made it sound and it did not ruin the book. Love this vampire romance, Shade is a master, Royalty, and a warrior, but inside he’s lonely and looking for a true love, that’s when he meets Kate, but she’s mortal, how will this work.
    Loved the story, plot and characters, apart from Rissa and Alec, devious spiteful immortals. Beautiful love story, romantic and sweet, but lots of angst, and loss. The love scenes are hot, but not overly crude. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Recommend to any vampire lovers.
