Rebecca's Hope (Carrie Town Texas Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 281 ratings

Raised by her guardian and influenced by the mostly male population of Carrie Town Texas, Rebecca benefited from a forward-thinking, unorthodox education not typical for a young woman in the late Nineteenth century.

As an adult, she is armed with skills that most would covet, yet she lives in a boarding house, works as a waitress and struggles financially. Most single women in the area didn’t stay single long. Most, but not her. The one man she had said yes to was dragging his feet. The townspeople all agree she is in need of a husband. Even the young girls in her Sunday School Class have taken action and writing an ad for the paper.

Wanted: Husband for Rebecca Mueller. **Must be handsome, nice, like children, and live within walking distance of Carrie Town School.

Will her circumstances change and allow her to hold out for true love?

From the Author

As women, we wear so many hats as we work both inside and outside the home. We work hard, try harder then begin each day again. Despite our efforts, sometimes life just stinks. Bad things happen we need and want an outlet an opportunity to relax and escape to a place where obstacles are met and overcome. We want to hear Good News.

Fans of western historical romance will enjoy this beautiful story set in late 19th-century  of love and forgiveness. As the unfortunate circumstances of Rebecca's childhood unfold, we discover a heroine who is both resilient and kind. Rebecca and Sam's love story will have readers rooting for their happy ending.

Kimberly Grist is married to her high school sweetheart, Nelson, who is a pastor in Griffin, Georgia. She and her husband have three adult sons, one with Down syndrome. They have a passion to encourage others to begin special needs ministries. Kim is also a grandmother and proud to be a child of the living God. She feels called to help and encourage others and to share experiences both good and bad in order to be the witness that God would have us to be.

Kim has enjoyed writing since she was a young girl, however, began writing her first novel in 2017. Inspired by so many things life has to offer one of which includes her oldest son's diagnosis of cancer she finds it especially gratifying to write a happy ending. "Suffering is, of course, is my least favorite thing. My objective is not to discuss my struggles specifically but to combine History, Humor, and Romance with an emphasis on Faith, Friends, and Good Clean Fun, to create stories that remind us how God can use adversity to strengthen, draw us closer to Him and give us the desires of our heart in ways we may never expect.

This is a very good story about a young woman that has been raised by a guardian and adopted by the town

The character of Rebecca hooks you from the first page, but it took me a bit to like Sam. However, his charming daughters took me by the hand and I stayed with it. Grace and Sadie were my favorite characters. The author paced the long-awaited reunion with Rebecca's father well. By the end of the novel, Sam had developed into a man worthy of Rebecca's love. I sighed at the events in the ladt chapter. I recommend this novel.

While I enjoyed the characters, their history & the plot...I felt the story seemed to ramble on and on....
I purchased the Kindle edition and about halfway thru the story, the color of the print faded to about half the darkness of the rest of the book..

This author is a wonderful story-teller. I love a good story and this one does not disappoint. Rebecca longs to know her father. Bits and pieces of her past are intermingled in each chapter until it all comes together in the end. Sam has asked Rebecca to marry him. But mistakes in his first marriage cause fears to arise and he misinterprets Rebecca’s comments to him. I will not share more because I don’t want to give away any part of this delightful story that is laced with a bit of mystery.
