Add to that the love of his life Lady Caroline Candor and Marty leads an exciting, deadly and passionate life. Treachery in the Batavian Republic leads to an undercover operation deep in French territory with unexpected results. Back home an unexpected development see's Marty and Caroline's relationship take a big step forward and things develop on the home front. Until Marty is sent to South Africa to take care of a French sponsored pirate threat to the British East India Company. That leads him to India and a link up with Arthur Wellesley.

From the Author

The third in the series takes our hero deeper into the world of espionage and also down to the southern hemisphere. Researching it was fun and and had me looking at everything from drug addiction to some interesting weapons from long forgotten manufacturers.  I also wanted to expand on his personal life and, even though some wouldn't get it, tried to stay true to both the time and my family history.  Yes young men got married at eighteen or younger and yes the girl was almost invariably pregnant.  My Family tree from that time is full of marriages like that and they stayed together for life in the main. So this was a fun book to write and I hope you enjoy it.

Marty is also Lord Candor; married to Duchess Caroline. He is assigned to India to report on French activities. Caroline and his daughter are with him. He also has his crew. Fun read.

Quick read and a good story however the author's use of some modern phrases detract a little. Also in one of the previous books there are a couple of minor geographical/navigational errors.

This is an excellent read for a self published book. The story is very good. The editing, however is a bit lacking( if you are a picky person). As I finish each book I feel very excited to move onto the next book.

This was a fun read. However, the plot and some of the activities are a bit hard to believe. And the proof reading is quite lacking — errors and typos are frequent. I am glad that I read it, but I will choose other books to read before I get to the fourth of the series.

This is a very action packed series. I usually get started in a series and start losing interest, but this series is so good, I am very much looking forward to the next book. I'm still not convinced I could get thru this entire series, but will let everyone know as I progress. The story is one of the best I have ever read, always interesting. Give it a try, it's worth it.

The story depends on quite a bit of luck and it plays fast and loose with the peerage laws of the time. I believe Caroline would have lost title and would have become a dowager upon the death of her husband and she could not confer peerage on her new husband by marriage. However, this oversight helps the story.

A hot story, with constant action. Marty was a brain box for good planning, and executed his plans to a tee.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs Work
Reviewed in Canada on November 25, 2020
The plots in this series are interesting, but the presentation needs a lot of work. The spelling is terrible. In fact it is atrocious. One example is "synched" rather than "cinched", as in "cinched around his waist".
Grammar is equally bad, with misplaced or missing commas, sentences with no ending etc.
I tried to overlook these issues but finally gave up.
