I have been writing creatively since 2006 when at a summer school with my family I wrote a short radio play. That led to a novel, some more courses, more novels, each better than the last until I took an MA at Sheffield Hallam. I published my first novel in 2014 - Dead Flies and Sherry Trifle. In 2015 a second followed - My Father and Other Liars. In 2016 I have an anthology of short stories out, Life, in a Grain of Sand. I have now added ‘memoir’ to my list of genres with the launch of Apprenticed To My Mother. Other novels can be found here. I write in a range of genres so there is something for everyone..
Before writing, I was a lawyer, ending up at the London Olympics. Now I mix writing with a range of activities, often walking to find inspiration or taking in a variety of sports events. I blog at Tangental - https://geofflepard.com/ and you can find more of my writing and poetry there.

Nick Vossen was raised on blockbuster films from the 80s and 90s as well as fantasy and sci-fi novels, comics and games. No matter the medium, his love for storytelling grew ever larger. Having always had a fascination with the fantastical and weird, he quickly grew fond of authors such as Terry Pratchett, H.P. Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman and many more. During the winter of 2017 Nick released an anthology of short, weird fiction entitled The Fissures Between Worlds, which delves into the strange places on Earth where time does not flow as it should. It was received quite favourably, and so Nick’s desire to tell more stories grew. He has since been privileged to appear in several other anthologies, magazines and short story compilations and has quite a few projects still in the works. His biggest fascinations and inspirations are old forgotten woodlands, the deepest depths of the oceans and the unsettling, uncanniness of retro futurism.
Nick graduated in Media- and Culture studies at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. He is currently working as a freelance creative writer and author. He also frequently works on projects in the Dutch indie-film industry, putting his talents to use in art-direction, set-dressing and of course screenwriting. His first novel, The Swansong Conspiracy (book 1 of the Eldritch Twins series) was released at the end of 2020 by Parliament House Press and is well received. The book series offers a unique blend of coming-of-age comedy, supernatural horror and mystery.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2018All of the writers are so talented. Many of the stories indeed unnerved me in a good way, either by being scary enough to cause me to look over my shoulder when I heard a noise while reading, or by causing me to shake my head in disbelief because I was pleasantly surprised when I just didn’t see that coming.
This anthology has many wonderful characters that truly come alive on the page. So many different and entertaining stories it’s hard not to enjoy something from every story.
This book would be a great read around a campfire or even curled up on the couch with a cup of tea. You might want to think about whether you are brave enough to challenge yourself and read this book at night, when you are home alone. Enjoy, I did.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2019The good news is that there are several good stories and authors that I will watch for in the future. Several were however of the type: here's the tense and scary situation: all that's all folks. So no real endings.
There are a few typo or misuses - like "sealing" when it should be "ceiling", etc.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2019This collection really has something for everyone -- from creepy psychological tales, to retold myths, to eerie hauntings to voodoo. With 34 stories it is well worth the price. Also, the authors hail from all over the world, so expect a variety of dialects and traditions, which give the selections rich atmosphere. You will be transported to Ancient Greece, New Orleans, Medieval England and more. The engaging stories really draw you in.
The paperback format is very nice, with larger, easy to read lettering (as opposed to the cramped fonts that often come on paperbacks.) A must have for horror fans!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2019The stories were pretty good. Some better than others. It’s a good quick read, perfect for the beach or porch.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2019I purchased this book quite a while back after reading other Dan Alatorre works. I also bought The Box Under The Bed and I am so glad that I did. His work in collecting anthology sampling of others works is as tasteful as is his writing.
Some tales are dark, brutish, poetic, connected to earlier tales as a continuance in maintaining time, humorous, cheekie, vengeful, thoughtful and thought provoking . . . .
A very good choice in reading material.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2019There were maybe two decent stories in this collection, the rest just didn't do anything for me. The writing quality was poor overall for most of the stories, and non of them were in the least bit scary. Many stories had no obvious conclusion, just ended abruptly. Another example of the problems of internet self publishing - any 5th rate author can publish (and the of course place fake 5 star reviews.).
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2018The majority of the stories are good, but there were a few that just didn't make sense to me.

Lots of stories. Not all scary but interesting ones too. Many different styles of writing. I liked this book. Done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly Chilling Collection of Dark Fiction.
Need horror fiction? Look no further - this collection of short dark fiction ticks all the boxes. The perfect read when the wind howls down the chimney and rattles the shutters. Thirty-four tales in a mix of genres; gothic and contemporary. Ghost stories, horror, voodoo - you'll be spoiled for choice. My favourite - Beyond the Leather Apron, a Victorian ripper tale.
