- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2018Read the first book in the series, The Fletcher, before starting this one. It too, is a wonderful book. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. The main character is endearing and comes alive on these pages. I love the author's storytelling style. Her descriptions bring the women of the Amazon camp to life, and provide a vivid glimpse into what their day to day might be like. While I thought the first book was good, this second on in the series is even better. I highly recommend this series.
What follows next, might be considered a spoiler (I am still trying to figure out what constitutes a spoiler), so consider yourself warned.
What worries me is how the author will reconcile the person Kyrie has become with the person Ori fell in love with, in the next book. That assumes there is a next book, and Kyrie finds a way home to Ori. I think that her hardening as a gladiatrix will be extremely difficult for them to reconcile. But I really want them to find a way. It will be interesting to see how the author handles this.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2018Hmm. How to review this one while remaining objective. This is my 4th time through this manuscript. As the author states in the very beginning, the ending is not an easy thing. And thank stars book 3 is close on the horizon.
So instead of addressing that 800 beast I'll touch briefly on the progression of Kyri from book 1 through book 2. Something that can be difficult to write is character progression. We, as readers, root for our protagonist. And this is something that is intensely apparent to me in this book specifically is the growth of Kyri as a person. She evolves physically, emotionally, romantically in a way that is tangible and meaningful. The romance arc in this book was really well done especially. There's even a side rom arc between secondaries that is touched on periodically that is *very* hard not to root for.
But still, the 800 beastie sits in the corner... The first time I went through this I threw a fit. But I also had the opportunity to read book 3 not soon afterwards. This isn't a brag, it's just that for those out there who might wonder, book 3 is absolutely amazing. So sit tight till they can get it off the press and into everyone's grubby hands. The wait will be worth it.
Trust me.
But in my opinion, don't let that stop you from reading Fletcher and Archer. You won't forget Kyri any time soon. I know I won't.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2018I absolutely love the character building in this series. The first was a simple introduction to Kyri and the amazons, I neither hated it or loved it. Once I got to the second book I felt like I grew with the characters and became invested. The evolution of Kyri as an amazon and her relationship with Ori was both passionate and sad. I was proud of her accomplishments and came to appreciate the build up of the romance. Like so many have eluded the ending made me distraught but I know that Kyri will come out stronger. It's a must read.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2021Alright I’m a fan. This writer is just getting better and it really shows in the dialogue between one and two. From the beginning this author has been great at world building and storytelling but I’ve felt a bit disconnected with the dialogue and characters development. No longer. I did like the story of the first book, but this one brought everything together and honestly had a hard time putting it down.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021The first novel was sweet and terrific at building the MC and her story. But, this one! You won't be expecting the ending. An excellent expansion of the series, seamlessly done with care and tons of emotional growth. At this point, I am praying for HEA in book 3.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 2, 2018Well done Kelly Aten! a brilliant follow on to The Fletcher, and if you liked reading that book you will love this one. Without plot-spoiling i can't say much, but a riveting dark twist at the end of the story leaves Kyri to her new reality - another book in the series. Can't wait for the next one, write fast Kelly.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2018I like how the author writes her stories, how it doesn't follow her everyday life but some of it the important parts the big events that are crucial to her character development. Not to mention that final story arc was really good despite how sad it was.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2018I really loved it but hated the ending! This was a great sequal to the first book and I enjoyed how the relationship continued to develop between the main characters. What made me sad and disappointed was how the story ended that knocked me into a bit of a depression as time is being lost by the lovers all due to a week excuse to suddenly leave her home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
The continuation of The Fletcher. Just when you think things are going great, a proverbial wrench gets thrown in and the young amazon has to make a decision to save herself or try and protect her friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this story - can’t wait for book 3!!
I am loving this second book just as much as I did the first - if not more, because you get to watch the characters that you have already fallen in love with grow and develop. I think this book is typical of the middle book of a trilogy - there is a lot of setting up ready for the final instalment. Still there is plenty of romance (I do love romance) and action near the end of the book (I love action too). So desperate to read the final book now!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant continuation
It takes great skill to weave together such emotions as joy, pain, fear, love, lust, anger and make them knit together seamlessly . This book has it all, wonderfully romantic packed with action interspersed with humour. Brilliant a must read set of books, can't wait to read book 3
