Author David Lee Dambrosio is a storyteller, from novels to screenplay books to poetry.

Private detective Harry Hamm is the heroic anti-hero of four mystery thrillers:

THE WRONG DAME

WRONG ABOUT HARRY

THE WRONG TRUTH

THE WRONG END (new)

The detective series delivers hard-boiled dialogue, biting humor, romantic complications, and is action-packed with who-done-what-to-whom and how-will-it-turn-out plots.

The trilogy EASY WAY INN tells the story of five lifelong friends, attempting to dodge life’s consequences. They easily enter life’s doorways, only to learn the ways out are difficult, threatening, and life changing.

NO PLACE IN HEAVEN tells of corruption and infidelity in suburbia.

In WHERE’S TINA?, the heroine is stuck in the middle of the 1969 generation gap when her best friend goes missing. WHERE’S TINA? is not just an old-fashioned love story – it’s a suspenseful romantic mystery thriller.

The screenplay books, TWIN KILL (crime drama), BEAST FROM WITHIN (horror), and THE LAST WAGON TRAIN (western), play movies in a reader’s mind. They feature unforgettable characters and plots.

For fans of poetry, Dambrosio’s six collections of evocative and emotive poems will leave a reader empathetic about the ironies and complications of life and love. The sixth and final book, SELF-SURVIVOR, ends the journey.

THE ADVENTURES OF SOX THE CAT, a pet fantasy for kids and grownups of all ages, displays the author's diversity. Move over Toto and White Rabbit, here comes an amazing adventure of hope and friendship.

David Lee Dambrosio is a storyteller. His books are like wine, white and red, sweet and tangy, though never dry. Choose your pleasure and enjoy.

My Impressions: 1949 Cleveland, Ohio, pinstriped suits, gangsters, a moll, true love.

    Main Characters:
    Harry Hamm – tough P.I.
Addie – Harry's secretary then girlfriend.
Earl Griggs – P.I. and Harry's best friend.

Harry, Earl and two other buddies who served in WWII in Europe start a detective agency after the war.
Harry is the tough guy and Earl is the thinker/planner. The other partners become involved with 'The Wrong Dame' who has stolen money and record ledgers from the son of a local gang leader. Those two partners are murdered and Vera is captured and tortured by the gangsters.
The story then revolves around the gangsters trying to get their property back and Vera and Earl conniving to increase their wealth by selling the ledgers back to the gangsters.
Harry and Addie are romantically involved and find themselves forced to be middle men to broker a deal between the thieves and the gangsters in order to stay alive.

The Wrong Dame is a bit tongue in cheek. If you can work around that it's an enjoyable story with interesting characters.
The action is fast, frequent and deadly with high body counts.

The editing, sentence structure and character descriptions are well done.
The plot is fast paced and interesting.
Details are sparse for readers who want to know how actions came to be instead of them simply happening.
The writing style is reminiscent of the forties and fifties noir stories.

There is cursing and sexual inuendo in the story.

    Excellently written!

There’s an authentic feel to this murder-mystery which takes place in 1949’s Cleveland. Harry Hamm in an interesting man to follow around too.

The pace of the story gets jittery at points, but the writing style makes up for it.

This is a straight-forward read. If you enjoy gangsters and hitmen, then you’ll enjoy this throwback story.

David Lee Dambrosio’s best work thus far in the “Harry Hamm” series. If you like detective crime and mystery all in one this is a must read. The pace of the book starts out slow as the author puts all the pieces in place but like a roller coaster picks up speed and ends with a crescendo. The ending leaves a perfect Segway in to the next “Harry Hamm” adventure, looking forward to the next installment. On a personal side note the author took me back to my youth growing up in Cleveland Ohio and then to my many years living in Florida. From Cleveland Ohio to Miami Beach to the old warehouses in Belle Glade (Muck city) which hasn’t changed much in 50+ years, It was a nostalgic road trip down memory lane and a good read.
