Blood and Snow: A YA Snow White Retelling with a Vampire Twist (Seven Magics Academy Book 1) Kindle Edition
When a gorgeous new guy joins the Academy, I go from a total zero to hungry for my crush’s blood. But killing him isn't part of my destiny. Or is it?
Vampires? Magic? I don’t believe in fairy tales. That's my first mistake.
My name is Snow White. At the Academy, I’m the butt of jokes and the klutz no one wants to date until Chace Charming walks into my life and changes everything.
Now, I’m different. I let a complete stranger drink my blood. Not only that, but there's a vampire queen. And she wants to claim me as her next victim. The only way to stop her is to become something not quite human.
With my life turned upside down, it’s clear the supernatural is everywhere, and the pull to become a vampire is irresistible. I must decide whether to remain in the mundane realm of humans or change into the creature I was marked to be, even if it means losing myself forever.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2021Fantastic book, great story line. Had me hooked from the 1st page. Can't wait to read the rest of the series
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2015I love retellings of classic stories. Especially fairy tales. I love when an author takes something so timeless and well-known and well-loved as the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and completely transforms it into something different. This was definitely the case with Blood & Snow, and I'm left wondering how I had never read these novelletes before!
Blood & Snow Volume 1 is a collection of the first four novelletes in the first season of Blood & Snow - Blood and Snow, Revenant in Training, The Vampire Christopher, and Blood Soaked Promises. Although each individual story is very short, they come together to make something that's just really fantastic. Snow White is your average, clumsy teenager who is just trying to make it through high school with the help of her best friend, Cindy, and her neighbors, the seven "brothers" who have all been adopted by Professor Pops. She also has a thing for Gabe, one of the brothers.
But then, she's mysteriously bitten by some random guy and now she's on her way to becoming a vampire! So now, in addition to trying not to fall flat on her face as she stumbles through track practice and trying to decide what to do about Gabe and still graduate high school, she's got to worry about all the fun things that come along with being a vampire. I really enjoyed watching her transformation, and I think RaShelle's excellent writing style really helped me to connect with Snow even though I've never been in a similar situation.
As far as the audiobook and the narration go, I thought it was pretty decent. I'm not an audiobook aficionado or anything, but the narrator held my attention for most of the book and made it easy to decipher when different people were talking. I kind of zoned out near the beginning and had to go back and listen to the first chapter or so of the first novellete, but once I got back into the story it seemed to be alright.
I will definitely be continuing this series - the ending was such a crazy cliffhanger and it made me wish I had Vol 2 ready to go! If you enjoy stories about vampires or modern retellings of fairy tales or Snow White or any combination of those, then you should definitely check out Blood and Snow! And also A Beauty So Beastly, which is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast set in the same world. A 4/5!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2024My heart just broke for snow. I am angry at Chance/Christopher for him leaving her with no reason. I'm angry at Gabe for taking the entire book to get his head outta his butt and be how they've always been. My heart has broken for her and may never be fixed unless Gabe isn't truly dead.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2024I liked how this story blends the YA Vampire vibes of “Twilight” with the Snow White fairytale. The start was great and I was invested from the start. I enjoyed how the author brought in the key elements from the fairytale in creative ways that worked for the urban fantasy setting.
However, as things progressed, the story became sloppier and the writing less polished. There were also irritating formatting errors, like words split up by accident. Although the final twist was a real surprise, this book still ends on a cliffhanger with nothing resolved and no sense of completion.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2020I just loved this book, it’s definitely a book that I couldn’t put down!! The characters are incredible and there is a few different things going on and the cliffhanger !! OMG!! Can someone say tissues!!
Definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read book 2 now..
- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2019I liked this book but I would have liked all three of the Snow books consolidated into one. Being a teenager is hard enough. Throw in some magical creatures and magical danger and you have the makings for disaster. This book ended on a cliff hanger with several questions unanswered.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2023Though it was a bit slow at the beginning, it really picked up after a couple of chapters. My main complaint is the last five or so chapters. Each chapter seemed to be ways of moving the story along without cutting out the boring argument scenes. The ending was too abrupt and left the reader with more questions than were answered. It would be fine if the reader could immediately start book two in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2019Well, l must say that l thought l would never like a vampire story. I was most assuredly wrong. Snow was such a strong character as were all the people surrounding her. This fantasy grabs you right into the storyline. I hope l will be able to read Book 2. Thanks to the author, RaShelle Workman, l was able to read this book free through a free book giveaway offer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Snow White vampire @high school
Snow White, seven brothers, a vampire.
A modern form of snow white, with her best friend struggling trough high school, trying not to 'eat' anyone. For me it was too much high school, but the story was well written, with some nice twists.

5.0 out of 5 stars loved it
At first I was not so sure about a supernatural book about vampires, but I decided to give it a go anyways. I completely fell in love with this book and the characters. Snow somehow made me smile, cry and even sometimes feel disgusted throughout the book. The characters brought so much emotion into the story and I am definitely going to read the next book in the series.
