The Witching Moon Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 32 ratings

Sheen O'Reilly considers her gift of second sight a curse. Branded a witch, she wears a rope burn around her neck as a reminder of what happens to people who are considered different. Now settled in a remote homestead where she tends her animals and concocts herbal remedies, she knows "he" is coming but is powerless to stop him.
"He" is Guthrie Tanner, who blames himself for the murder of his wife and the kidnapping of his young daughter. After an unsuccessful year of tracking his enemies, he has heard about a witch who lives alone on the prairie. While he doesn't believe in supernatural nonsense, he is willing to do whatever it takes to find his daughter. What he doesn't count on is the effect Sheen will have on his heart.

Loretta C. Rogers is a fourth generation Floridian, and proud of her Scots-Irish, German heritage. She admits to using writing as an excuse to avoid cleaning house. In her younger days, she and her pinto mare busted cattle out of the brush. She trailer-trained horses, and competed in a couple of 25-mile trail endurance rides. These days, she rides a rocking chair.

When asked why she writes in different genres, Loretta doesn't mind telling readers that she lets the characters inside her head tell their own story. From Old West lawmen to Contemporary rival drug cartels, Loretta crafts the plot. She calls it, 'getting out of the way,' and letting creativity take over. This is why her tagline is: Romance with a Twist...Expect the Unexpected!

Aside from the fact that I get to be my own boss and go to work in my pgs, I enjoy writing because I get to live vicariously through my characters that are clever and fearless, but in real life I’m afraid of snakes and heights. Let’s face it; I wouldn’t last five minutes as a character in one of my books.

The thing I appreciate most is when readers accuse me of keeping them up all night turning the pages of one of my novels. I also love that I get paid to make up stuff. Other than being addicted to crossword puzzles, I have no hobbies because writing is all consuming and takes a lot out of me.

Something she'd like readers to know--That she is also L.W. Rogers.

Loretta values her readers. If you enjoy her books, she would appreciate your letting others know by posting a review. She prefers FaceBook to Tweeting, and can be found on Pinterest. She hopes readers will drop by and say, howdy!

Witching Moom combines the fast pace of the good old American western, the mysticism of Ireland, and a love story sure to capture a reader's heart. Sheen O'Reilly and Guthrie Tanner have both been damaged by events in their lives and both are wary of the attraction they feel for one another. Their characters are well developed and complex enough that they never become overshadowed by the non-stop action of the plot. From the beginning, I felt the inevitability of their fate and yet the books constantly managed to surprise me. As for the ending - WOW!

The story grabs your attention right from the first page. Its extremely well written and the author really sticks to the time period. Guthrie the hero is a man tortured by his past as is the heroine Sheen, together they take a journey thats helps heal both of their hearts. They are both extraordinary characters and very brave. There are only a couple sex scenes and those are at the very end. Otherwise, there are some romantic moments but only kissing and such.

I would have liked an epilogue. But other than that its a great story, check it out!

A paranormal western, the Witching Moon combines a down to earth quality with a touch of whimsy. The hero is a grounded, determined man, disillusioned and tortured by his past, while the heroine is a fairy doctor with psychic abilities and her own legacy of heartbreak. After a stormy beginning, each finds a way to begin to accept the scars of the other. The old west setting is authentically detailed. I especially like the descriptions of the heroine as she makes use of her unusual gifts. Above all, the book is a heartwarming love story.

The story was perfectly told from beginning to the very end. There is little fluff and a lot of adventure in this story of two people trying to find a little girl kidnapped by bad men. The story will make you want to hold your breath why you turn the page, but at the end the story will make you happy and satisfied.

What an awesome book. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It had it all, romance, suspense, and lots of life's trials. I would love to see more of this type of books. Well written. Love it and really enjoyed the read.

The 2nd part of the book was definitely better than the first but that really isn't saying much. It was very irritating that Sheen would allow some man she didn't know to come and "kidnap" her and she never makes a move to try and escape! And then she is attracted to him even though he has dragged her away from her home, she doesn't know what he wants, she is exposed to the elements and indians and wild life are trying to kill them! I finished reading the book although I could just as easily have put it down and never read the rest of it.

    Brilliant book!

It gripped me from the very beginning. Burning witches at the stake and fleeing for your life and all that dramatic hiding can't fail to get a reader hooked. I was a little confused for a couple of chapters about why our heroine was living alone in the middle of nowhere when she had grown up but the explanation and circumstances were nicely woven into the story later on.

I loved Guthrie. He was so hurt and angry and desperate. I loved how his determination to find his daughter meant that he was almost brutal to everyone around him including Sheen, his last hope in his bid to be reunited with what was left of his family. The romantic and sexual tension between Sheen and himself built nicely up to a near sizzle, but then dipped and was built again.

I loved the descriptions of the countryside and all the related tension. Really atmospheric. A great read!

An epic historical romance that keeps you both on the edge of your sweet and begging to know what's going to happen next. I stayed up into the night to read this. It is a story I shall never forget.

1.0 out of 5 stars really dull, couldn't finish it - read a few chapters, skipped a few pages then gave up
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 12, 2013
I really tried to enjoy this book. The historical accounts of women who were accused of witchcraft are terribly sad and it's an emotive and powerful subject.

This book however was nothing new, very dull and the romance was even worse.

I think many authors just rely on the cliches (pretty, tragic sweet heroine, and tall, dark handsome guy) and think that that would suffice to create the romantic chemistry required.

There was a serious lack of romance, sizzle, the story was dull and the writing and historical language and content was wrong. In the UK, even in Ireland we don't use mommy.
