Remember Hope: A Second-Chance (Amputee) Military Romance (Healing Hearts) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 374 ratings

Daisy Greenwell knows rock bottom—losing her legs shattered her world, but it also fueled her fight to help others. Her biggest challenge yet? Ethan Minter, a broken ex-soldier whose life was destroyed by a bomb in Afghanistan.

Ethan has lost everything—his dreams, his purpose, and even hope. Trapped in a wheelchair, he can't see a future beyond his pain... until Daisy enters his life. Her strength, compassion, and unbreakable spirit might just be the lifeline he never knew he needed.

Can this resilient woman help a broken veteran rebuild his life? Or will the darkness of their pasts keep them both from finding the love and redemption they crave?

Note: Trigger warning. This book deals with PTSD and has a violent scene written very carefully.

*** These standalone sweet, clean romances follow a team of soldiers that were once stationed in Afghanistan, bound by friendship. They can be read alone but if you read them together, their stories are so much richer.

Without HOPE all is lost.
5 out of 5 stars
Without HOPE all is lost.
Ethan Minter and Colin Wilkes were suppose to be looking for landmines but were fooling around when Colin gives Ethan a little push and Ethan slips onto a mine and loses his lower leg. Shipped home he reaches out to his buddies still deployed and receives no response (why? what happened to his buddies?). Alone, depressed and reduced to being on crutches he is forced to attend useless therapy for "survivor's guilt which he doesn't have and therapy which he feels frustrated by. After nearly injuring another patient while throwing a tantrum his physical therapist tells him not to come back until he he sees someone like "Daisy" who will understand and help him. He finally calls her after purposely playing phone tag he finally goes to the address given. Meeting Daisy and Shamrock Pups. With the help of Daisy (herself a double amputee) and a very special pup Ethan learns that there is one thing that can get him to a future. That is HOPE. HOPE that Daisy and one little pup have planted in him. Read this wonderful story to find out how one man clung to a four letter word with the help of Daisy and her furry friend to become the strong man he was meant to be and where his buddies really are.

Hope is definitely the theme in this story. Even as Ethan and Daisy battle darkness in their own lives, they cling to the hope that they find in each other and are able to find the will to go on. There is just so much sweetness happening here, as well!

All of my thanks to and prayers for the service members, veterans, leos and first responders of our great nation. We are able to be who we are only because of who you are.

I absolutely loved this book! Remember Hope is the second book of now 29 in Healing Hearts. While I'm glad I'm reading them in order because I love the backstories and the community, these books ARE HEA STANDALONES and it is not necessary to read the previous books.

I would highly recommend this totally clean book for anyone.

Romance, sweet, contemporary, military; series but stand alone read
Daisy and Ethan’s story was heartfelt, and moving as Ethan has to figure out to regain hope, and emotionally heal after losing his leg. Daisy, a counselor, is referred to him.
Lovely sweet, fall, glimpses at previous characters in the series, and sweet, honest hearts made for a fun, romantic read.

This story made me laugh and made me cry, these two lovely people who have both been through a lot, losing a part of themselves, but learning to test their limits in using what they have. Falling in love, recognizing each others strengths, compassion, and loving natures, overcoming so much, to fall in love and melt together… I cannot recommend this author, Ginny Sterling, enough!

I found this story fascinating with both lead characters being amputees. Ethan has a huge attitude problem at the beginning. When Daisy becomes his therapist & he learns her story things finally change for him. He finds his HEA also which he thought could not happen. A well-written story about PTSD, loss, forgiveness & acceptance.

Good story, engaging characters, and strong emotion are hallmarks of this book, which appears to be part of a series, though it's not labelled as such. I've got mixed feelings about this offering. It needs an editor, but that might have been ignorable if the leading lady hadn't suddenly behaved completely out of character, and then that behaviour wasn't called by any of her friends for long enough to need a hygiene intervention.

I have no experience of knowing someone in the american military or of someone who is an amputee. However this story felt ‘right’ somehow. The characters are likeable and their struggles seem real.It isnt a very long read and I would recommend it to anyone….as long as they have tissues aavailable. The ending is lovely and just right.

I enjoyed this story, especially because of the puppies and other neglected dogs. Daisy is a strong woman who managed to create a new life for herself after losing both of her legs. Ethan is still trying to find his way in a new world after losing his leg in a bomb blast. They both have had a tough time, and find it hard to develop relationships.
