    The Time Traveler's Awakening (Prequel to the Magic Bound Saga)

    A Time-Travel Paranormal Romance

    This is a fascinating start to what is going to be an amazing series. It is my first book written by Anna Applegate, I enjoyed her writing style and her creative and imaginative mind. The storylines are interesting and original, they easily grabbed my attention and held it captive straight to the end. The fascinating characters are well developed, likable, easy to relate to and connect with. Ember Brighton a hard working college student with goals of becoming a doctor. But she soon learns there is more to the world than what meets the eye, she also learns there is more to her own family, herself included. This book sets the foundation for future books in the series, the author does a great job blending fantasy, paranormal, time travel and romance into her story. The book runs under four hours but it packs a lot of details and story, there is plenty of drama, a touch of angst, action, a touch of thrilling suspense, some heartfelt moments and the start of what is going to be an epic romance. Thank you Anna Applegate for this fantastic story, I am looking forward to hearing more from Rane, hopefully Finn, Jac & Patrick too. I hope it comes to Audible soon.

    I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Aaron Shedlock are fabulous narrators. They were perfectly casted to bring the characters to life. Sarah did an awesome job covering the roles for all the characters up to the epilogue when Aaron Shedlock steps in and takes the reign as Rane. Their performances are perfection, these two are entertaining storytellers and it is always a pleasure to listen to their work. Thank you for another awesome listen.

    This is Embers first introduction to time traveling, and her introduction to her pirate.... Rane Anderson. His character was written very well, and someone I wouldn't mind bumping into while time traveling...

    I would recommend reading this as the first book, coz you are left wanting more of Rane... and Destin for that matter. It will also show you how Ember didn't remember her first meetings and time travels.

    I did enjoy this short book, and it made me want to read the entire series all over again.

    So I actually listened to the Time Traveler's Magic first but had the opportunity to listen to the prequel so I took it. As I was introduced to the characters already, it was just fun to see how Ember got her start into time traveling and to meeting the good and bad guys of the series. I felt like we got to know Finn even more in this prequel and it was great to actually read about Ember's mother and father. Overall, a great start to the series.

    The audiobook is almost exclusively narrated by Sarah Puckett who is amazing. I know that Audible doesn't let you note the extent of their narrations but Aaron Shedlock only narrates the epilogue so be warned. That said, listening to Sarah Puckett narrate is always a good thing. I loved this entry into the series and the first book. Now, onto the second book of the series to see how everything plays out!

    Poor Ember is currently overwhelmed by her busy life of Medical school, internship and volunteer work and really does not have time on her plate for anything else- especially the big secret her mother drops on her. Her mom is a time traveler and most likely Ember has the gift as well. Ember needs to come to terms quickly with her apparent gift to help a friend of her mom stop others from damaging time.

    So I knew this was a time travel story, but I had no idea that this had other kinds of supernatural things going on in it as well- and I could not be more excited for this turn! I don't want to spoil anything, but just know this was a very cool twist and I am a big fan.

    I will say that I am totally shipping a certain romance to happen, but logistically, I have no idea how it could happen. I mean, there are A LOT of obstacles in the way (1000 years, species compatibility...) but a girl can hope, can't she?

    Side note, the ending was shocking, and I am super hooked. This was a fast paced novella, about 3.5 hours long as an audiobook, just a taste of a fantastic world that I know I am going to love to get lost in. I don't normally seek out audiobooks, but I am glad I picked up this one because there was a lot of backstory I feel will be super important in the series. The narrator did a good job creating Ember as well as the side characters, so I would gladly listen to the rest of the series on audio if they are made into audiobooks (I already own book 1 and 2 on ebook so I can continue the series!).
