About the authors
In her previous life, Blanche Day Manos was a kindergarten teacher, part-time writer of feature stories for a newspaper, and writer of stories and poems for children’s and Christian magazines. Now, she lives in a bustling Arkansas town near her family. In between writing books, she enjoys painting and playing the piano.
Blanche specializes in clean mysteries that have middle-aged women protagonists with a tendency to become involved in strange and mysterious happenings in their hometowns.
Darcy Campbell, retired newspaper reporter, and her mother Flora Tucker, protagonists, can’t stay out of trouble in Levi, Oklahoma. On the surface, this lovely town seems tranquil, filled with law-abiding and peaceful people. As Darcy and Flora discover, more is going on than meets the eye. The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, Best Left Buried, and Grave Heritage follow these courageous women from one harrowing adventure to another.
The second series, the Ned McNeil moonlight books, begin with Nettie Elizabeth McNeil returning to her hometown of Ednalee, looking forward to a reunion with her only living relative, her Uncle Javin. The reunion fails to happen and Ned, as her friends call her, discovers that she is involved in a web of lies and mysteries that have their origin in a murder that happened decades ago. Moonlight Can Be Murder indeed. More excitement takes place under a full moon in By the Fright of the Silvery Moon. The third Ned McNeil book, Moonstruck and Murderous, follows Ned and her two childhood friends into the mystery surrounding a 200-year-old house that is lovely to look at but is built around a deadly secret of its own.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2015I had the privilege to get a copy of the Audio Book to listen to and review and wanted to add this to my review of the book. The flow and how you feel like you are right there with Flora and Darcy telling you their story. I get so caught up in it I feel like I am experiencing it with them. The actor reading has captured the essence of Darcy and Flora and her inflection and her emotion as she reads draws you in. Whether you are listening or reading this book for yourself you will enjoy it. Don't miss out make sure you get this book and series
The Cemetery Club (Darcy and Flora Cozy Mystery) by Blanche Day Manos & Barbara Burgess is a great cozy mystery that mixes faith, mystery and family along with suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat and wanting more.
Darcy has come home to her mother’s after the death of her husband. When her mother Flora along with Darcy find the body of Flora’s good friend Ben at the cemetery then things get really interesting and dangerous for Darcy and Flora. Can they find out why and who killed Ben before more people are killed or the killer succeeds in killing them?
Darcy and Flora remind me of my daughter and me. We have a special bond and it seems we can always find ways to make things interesting. I think I could feel right at home sitting in their kitchen sharing stories while drinking coffee. That is part of the charm of this book, being able to feel like you know them and could be right in the middle of this mystery helping them solve it as well as getting in trouble right along with them. I like that the book keeps you guessing. It is one of those books that you don’t want to put down but then when you get to the end you wish there was more. It has just the right mix of suspense, faith and family. I give this book 5 stars and would highly recommend it to others.
I think one of my favorite quotes from the book is, pg. 38 “Trust God, Darcy. He knows the end from the beginning.” This is a very comforting thought. And then another favorite was “To her way of thinking, in all times of stress, coffee helped.” Pg. 48. I so agree!
I loved this book. I think that anyone who likes a good mystery, with twists and turns will want to read this book. I can’t wait to read the other two in the series.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2016It was interesting to go back to the first book in the series to get the full background on this fascinating mother and daughter team of sleuths. Since we started with books two and three in the series and a different narrator, we had a bit of a hard time with the narration done in this version that didn't seem to fit the book or characters quite as well as the other narrator did. She was also very hard to hear when she attempted to do low register men's voices.
The story itself was excellent and just as full of plot twists and turns as the other two we listened to. There is one glaring plot hole featuring a certain lantern left burning in a place no one else had been in for awhile. Other than that this was a great start to a fascinating cozy mystery series and I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2015I loved this book! "The Cemetery Club" by Blanche Day Manos is the first book in her Darcy and Flora cozy mystery series and I highly recommend it. The main characters were well-developed and likeable, so much so that I held my breath when the author placed them in danger. For me, the characters come first and the plot comes second. But, in this novel, the unique setting, the cast of characters and the plot combined to keep me turning the pages.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2015This is a cozy mystery, well written, good character development and a satisfying read. Then you get to the chase scene and whoa, what happened to the cozy part. That is the misconception many readers have of cozy mysteries. Well, think again. This is a suspenseful, exciting story, filled with baffling murders. I am planning to read the other books in this series. I recommend you try them.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2015A young widow moves back home with her mother. She and her mother find a friend of her mothers dead in the cemetery while visiting the grave of her father. The plot is very interesting and really piques your interest.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2015This is the first of the three series and it's really interesting. Darcy and her mom, Flora, are quite a pair. However, in the later stories, Flora is stereotypically aged for someone only in her 60s. Not cool especially considering the writers are older gals. Hmm.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2015I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. It started off with a bang and I couldn't wait to turn the page, but it sizzled out in the middle of book. I wasn't able to finish the book as soon as I normally do because it became boring, which disappointed me because it started off just the way I like them to with the murder first :)
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2015The Cemetery Club: Small-town Levi, Oklahoma, looks deceptively calm but all is not as it seems. Darcy Campbell and her mother Flora Tucker find themselves neck-deep in an ancient secret of Cherokee gold. The death of Flora's old friend Ben is only the beginning of the mystery. Along the way, Darcy finds she has not forgotten her first love, sheriff Grant Hendley. This first of the Darcy and Flora series kept me on the edge of my chair from start to finish. I liked the part the owl played in the story.

4.0 out of 5 stars 3 3/4 stars
I felt that this mystery was a sort of rough diamond...it needed a bit of polish. There were many parts that I loved, and I have to admit that the beginning of the story made me want to continue reading. It had a great feeling of excitement that sort of died down.
And I really wished that there was more about the "Cemetery Club" as the name is really what had drawn me to the book. I did feel a bit let down. Also, I felt that the story had brought up a few things that were not taken care of properly--or maybe just not to to my satisfaction.
Still, I would have to say I would probably read another book in the series as I found the character interesting and I would like to see if the continuing books are polished up. I would rate this mystery with 3.75 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have read all three but especially enjoyed this one
This is the first of the Manos/Burgess mystery series. I have read all three but especially enjoyed this one. It is a good setting for the others in the series. We are introduced to the main characters - a mother and daughter. Both are widows but find strength from each other. The writing is excellent and fast paced. Darcy and her mother find a dead body in the cemetery. Why would someone murder Flora's neighbor? There are many twists and turns and we find that people's lives are more complicated than what they seem. An excellent read. You will not put it down until you are finished. I recommend all three books.
