Razzle dazzle -- cool jazz and hot kisses...
The Goddess Epona is breathless over a lover's tryst with Eshigel, the dark Guardian of the Between. Before she can meet him, she must hear appeals from her Dark of the Moon supplicants, a captive child and a succubus seeking revenge. Ambushed and abducted, Epona awakens in the human realm of the Roaring Twenties. Bereft of her powers, she assumes the guise of a flapper in a speakeasy and sets out to save the child. In a battle against the demons determined to destroy his Goddess, Eshigel undergoes a dangerous rite involving a half woman and half serpent Lamia. Can a Goddess and her dark Guardian overcome evil for the sake of love?

Mind Your Goddess is the third exciting Wytchfae book by Flossie Benton Rogers. Some writers create towns, cities, or worlds where their characters live, love, and fulfill their destinies. Ms. Benton Rogers created a complete universe and has located six (soon to be seven) tales there.

The Wytchfae is an enthralling nexus where every god, goddess, witch, warrior, supernatural creature and possibility exist. Greek, Roman, Celtic deities and more live there. Time travel? Yep. Runes? You bet. A Demoness? Absolutely. Add Succubae, a Lamia, and a Janus, and you get the picture. This is a mythology geek’s fantasyland!

This book has everything I enjoy. It’s an amazing love story. Epona (Eppie) and Eshigel have a fascinating history which is only mentioned in Mind Your Goddess.

When Mind Your Goddess begins, the couple have resolved their past and now are madly in love. But Eppie disappears, and Eshigel realizes he’s to blame. Nothing on earth (or in the Wytchfae cosmos) will stop him from rescuing her.

Meanwhile, Eppie, stripped of her gifts, copes with life in Sapphire Beach, Florida in the 1920s. This is a major endeavor because she has landed in the clutches of a Speakeasy owner who uses her as a dancer in his establishment. Dressed in a fringed frock, she must shake her booty to the Charleston and endure sweaty-handed left foot lugs who drag her around the dance floor while she attempts to restore her divinity and find a desperate child psychically begging for help.

Eshigel’s detective work to figure out what happened to Eppie is brilliant. Yet, before he can locate his lover, he must survive the challenge of the snakes. If you think this part couldn’t be half horrifying, half erotic, you would be wrong. The Lamia is gorgeous and hot, and though Eschigel has made a lot of mistakes, she eventually supports him in his quest and gives him the information he needs to find his goddess.

When Eshigel and Eppie get back together, sparks fly for them and those in their way. The book has a satisfying ending which wraps up most of the plot points and includes a Happily Ever After.

I love mythology and anything with goddesses in it, so this book was perfect for me. This is book three in the Wytchfae series. I read book 2, and I don't believe they need to be read in order since each book follows a different goddess' story, but there were a few references to book two's characters.

I really enjoyed this story. Not only was their great chemistry between Epona and Eshigel, but Darla's character was fantastic. The author does a great job of making her characters come alive through dialogue and character development. I love the twist in Darla's identity. I also love that none of her characters is perfect. They each have their flaws, and there is a redeeming quality with that.

If you enjoy stories with magic, mythology, chakras, and goddesses, then this is the story for you. :-)

Mind Your Goddess (Wytchfae Book 3) by Flossie Benton Rogers is a wickedly fun mythological tale with elements of romance and betrayal. You are transported to the magical world of unlikely lovers—Epona, Goddess of fruitfulness, and Eshigel, dark Guardian of Between. The tale begins when Epona listens to supplications from her human worshippers. A small child beseeches Epona to help her, but a blast of murky light hits the goddess in the stomach—an ominous sign she should heed. Yet, she can't get the child's pleas out of her mind as she travels into human and wytchfae realms. Unbeknownst to Epona, a Succubus lures her into a tangled web that unravels into danger, revealing how the girl ties in with Eshigel's past and scorned lover.

Author Rogers is a master storyteller that weaves mythology from various cultures and concepts of the chakra into a unique tale. The story is rich in vivid imagery, allowing the reader to travel easily among the various worlds and across time. There is a hint a steamy romance, but it is done in good taste and adds to the mystique of what attracts the earth goddess to the god from the Underworld. The entertaining novella can be read in one setting.

I recommend Mind Your Goddess to fantasy readers who love elements of mythology, intrigue, and romance.

The moment I opened this book, I realized that it read quite familiar. The names were different, but the events sounded familiar. So, I searched through my past reviews and found the Book 2 of this series.

In Book 3, this one here, we encounter Epona, the goddess of fruitfulness, and Eshigel, the Guardian of the Between. Both have such strong and enduring love for each other that Eshigel was ready to sacrifice anything to free Epona from the hands of Darla, who kidnaped her.

The story thickens as Darla, a scorned demoness, scorned by Eshigel, vowed revenge. I still could not understand why Darla, if she is who we think she is, had to prostitute herself to survive.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was well crafted and written, told with very close attention to details. I could feel the author enjoying writing this story, and so was able to transfer this feeling to the reader. Beautiful story!
