My name is Ellen Best, I live in East Anglia Suffolk, in the UK. With my wonderful husband John and the lovely Lilly, our Romanian rescue dog. I have been writing since I could read. I began with poetry and had my first poem published at twelve in a magazine under a pen name. But in 2012 I took early retirement to improve my craft and concentrate on writing.
I took part in NaNoWriMo in 2014 and successfully completed the challenge. 2015 saw my flash printed in Canadian magazine a long story short.
Flash fiction, gave me my first competition success as I claimed first prize at the UK blog award story in 2017, 2018 my first horror story was printed in an Anthology Dark Visions 2019 The association of retired police Officers included a story by me in a pamphlet to celebrate their centenary. 2019 saw the inclusion of a psychological thriller of mine between the pages of another Anthology Nightmareland.
2020 has been a strange year and I have been working on my debut novel which fingers crossed will be picked up by an agent and publishing house very soon. It is a contemporary historic novel set in the 1970s. A story of Shame, as 10yr old Mary is ripped from her parents, A tale of pain and fear ensues as they fight to get her back. All because of an anonymous letter.
The Fourth Anthology is ready to pre-order on Amazon called Spellbound a Horror Anthology. By Dan Alatorre and nineteen other Authors. I am proud to have a place between the pages of this book.
Nick Vossen was raised on blockbuster films from the 80s and 90s as well as fantasy and sci-fi novels, comics and games. No matter the medium, his love for storytelling grew ever larger. Having always had a fascination with the fantastical and weird, he quickly grew fond of authors such as Terry Pratchett, H.P. Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman and many more. During the winter of 2017 Nick released an anthology of short, weird fiction entitled The Fissures Between Worlds, which delves into the strange places on Earth where time does not flow as it should. It was received quite favourably, and so Nick’s desire to tell more stories grew. He has since been privileged to appear in several other anthologies, magazines and short story compilations and has quite a few projects still in the works. His biggest fascinations and inspirations are old forgotten woodlands, the deepest depths of the oceans and the unsettling, uncanniness of retro futurism.
Nick graduated in Media- and Culture studies at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. He is currently working as a freelance creative writer and author. He also frequently works on projects in the Dutch indie-film industry, putting his talents to use in art-direction, set-dressing and of course screenwriting. His first novel, The Swansong Conspiracy (book 1 of the Eldritch Twins series) was released at the end of 2020 by Parliament House Press and is well received. The book series offers a unique blend of coming-of-age comedy, supernatural horror and mystery.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2020Dan Alatore did a fantastic job of putting this anthology together. I loved all three of his spine tingly tales. I really appreciate the way he began and ended the anthology with related shorts.
As with any anthology, there are some stories that are truly superior to others and this anthology is no different. I really enjoyed most of the stories, but there were a few that I found quite confusing. I definitely found a few new authors to follow including but not limited to Kaye Lynn Booth, Betty Valentine, Christine Valentor, Barbara Anne Heberg and Victoria Clapton.
I am glad that I read this during daylight hours as some of these stories are quite scary and/or disturbing.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2019This was a great anthology of short stories. Several of the tales completely grabbed me and drug me into a terrifying otherworld. Unfortunately, there were a few others so amateurish, it made me wonder if the authors were friends or family of the editor. Overall, this was a great, gruesome and scary collection. I would definitely recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2020I liked most of the stories. Skipped maybe 2-3 that just didn't hold my interest. I was thrown at first, thinking they were all completely unrelated stories, but at least one of the stories continued later on in the book a couple of times.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2022Oh interesting. I do believe there's a story in part one that tells about how the young Jessica got started in her nightmares and now its continued here in part two. Perfect. There are some stories that aren't worth reading but since they're not a whole book that part will go by fast. Other stories I have thoroughly enjoyed and some I have laughed through. Thanks for writing this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020These are good , and scary ,short stories. They keep your attention, and you have to at least finish once you've started. Some of these authors ,I will be following up on ,I like their style, others I won't.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2020This collection of horror stories has something for everyone. It begins with an intriguing premise -- a young girl decides to try a dangerous drug called Nightmareland. The drug comes with a pretty severe warning and is against the better judgement of many -- but, you know, Pandora has to open the box! What follows are a series of nightmarish stories, presumably experienced under the influence of the drug. I am a huge horror fan, and I love collections like this because they offer a variety of fright -- some psychological, some gory, some fantasy based. I recommend this for horror fans of all stripes. You won't be disappointed!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2021Entertaining. These stories were just what the doctor ordered. Some left no doubt, some cliffhangers. You had to use you imagination. I was satisfied.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2020Dan Alatorre did a great job setting this whole book up. The authors were from all over and they wrote some really strange and scary stories. I loved Dan's short stories the best. I have been a fan of his since I read the gamma series. The other authors did a great job also..before I knew it the book was over and now I will have to find something else to read. Don't miss out on this book..you be sorry you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be afraid, be VERY afraid…
23 nightmare inducing short tales not to be read alone at night, especially just before bedtime, or by people with vivid imaginations, or weak hearts.
