She can lose her birthright, but not her heart! Meredith Clark wants no part of her long-ago identity as Rosemary Randall. She's created a more exciting life as the courtesan, Calista, and her newest lover is both intriguing and rugged enough to capture her fancy. But the widowed Earl of Grayling craves more than this woman's dazzling intelligence and fiery passion. He wants her as his mistress, and if she won't agree to that, he'll settle for taking her home as his daughters' governess.

Determined never to be tied down to one person or place, Meredith prepares to run again. Yet something deep inside her yearns to stay -- until she discovers Constantine’s real identity. Now she's faced with the hardest choice of her life. Should she trust the man she's coming to love with the secrets of her past, or flee to save them both from an even greater heartbreak?

I wish I could award this a ten but five will have to do. Rosemary is beautiful, feisty, extremely witty and highly regarded by the widower Constantine "Lord Grayling" Hunt. Her double identities of Calista and Meredith Clark confuses as well excites his Lord. She begins employment as governess to his daughters which is a success. He hopes to discover more of her true self but Rosemary is very close mouthed with no intention of revealing anything. Despite her ever growing closeness to his daughters and their obvious attraction to each other the past is preparing to come visit. The past looms in and Rosemary is tempted to run but to what end as now she is with child!!! Wow from beginning to end I was captivated. Recommended read.

It was a pleasant read. Lots of details to hold a readers interest. I enjoyed the whole series. Gave it a four star because I would not call it riveting. But worth reading. Especially if you like historical type books.

While reading AN ACCIDENTAL AFFAIR, I became interested in these characters. And, after reading the synopsis of this book, I became downright intrigued, wondering how on earth the author could juxtapose a nobleman and a prostitute, plus manage a HEA, but she did!

The plot is solid...no wandering. The characters are portrayed in careful, poignant detail. Attention to period is correct as are titles. There is no excessive description of scenery, houses, etc. - only that required to set the place. This is a purely character-driven tale.

This is a touching, satisfying story.

I've not yet read the other books in the series, but I can say this one does very well as a stand-alone. (My appetite is now whetted for the others in the series.)

Note: Anachronisms sprinkled throughout. Normally a huge turnoff for me, but the story was otherwise so well done, the distraction was minimal.

I had read the other books to this series and had to see what happened next. I was not disappointed. I liked the characters and the way this author writes. This whole series was great and well worth the read.

I started with the Wild Randalls series over a year ago. I read each the day they came out and was really anxious for the final installment. It was well worth the wait. Rosemary/Calista/Meredith is a strong woman who did what she had to do to survive, yet still has a heart and soul. A true Randall, she doesn't allow anyone to keep her down. While her story doesn't seem to be as involved, and there is much less of the brothers than I expected, it was an excellent story. The ending did seem like perhaps the writer wasn't sure how to wrap it all up, but it did the job.

I was disappointed with this story. I felt it cheapened the other three.

An Englishwoman, on the lam from coercion and threats of her titled family, supports herself for ten years by working in a series of brothels. There are a few Victorian era brothel scenes and I like the research and ingenuity they required to seem authentic to this period romance. The quote above, the title of this review, is her answer to the question: how many men? Calisto/Meredith/Rosemary is a lovely character, with fire in her belly; kindness, honesty and compassion in her heart; and cleverness, high society training, and a sense of humor in her head. She is a fine match for Constantine. If they can work through the who-even-cares? class issues (is there a money issue at stake? No! Do either of them care about public opinion? Not really.) and relationship power sharing, they may have some decent prospects. Written in American English.

I have enjoyed the story telling in all this series and once again the plot is good but I have real issues with sloppy editing, somebody who knows the time period and English usage should read the books and not rely on spell checker. " held her around her waste"!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure it could be done and I would not end up being irritated. Tattersals is the horse auction; chaise, day bed , couch ,sofa were things to sit on in England, not a lounge, that is a room today or a verb. Period romances should be of the period, please.

Loved the series of The Wild Randalls this is the last of the series for the family now brought back together with their new partners. I found this to be well written and very enjoyable the heroine Rosemary is full of determination and daring but also a little naive. Never boring as the locations the story is set in, varies from city to country I would recommend this book.
