"Carmen writes such heartfelt stories with many twists and turns along the way." So Many Reads
From the Author
From the Inside Flap
So where does the fairytale aspect actually play out? Is it when the dashing prince on the white stallion sweeps in and they live happily ever after? Chuh! But hey, the protagonist had to go through many trials to get there. So what's so bad about that? Personally, I don't think there's a problem, except for putting all your dreams in one knight in shining armor who turns out to be a frog. But you can still work at your happily ever after, with or without the prince, right? Though, in my opinion, I think we're all looking for someone who completes us.
The fact of the matter is a troubled past helps us appreciate a wonderful present. When we experience trials, we often seek out God and loved ones for support and are that much more thankful when the trial ends. So, I don't have trouble with fairytales; that's why I write them, modern-day fairytales, that is. I put my characters through trials and tribulations because I know that somewhere, someone can relate. Yes, there's normally a knight in hidden-armor, who usually requires some polishing before he's fit to be a prince. But again, isn't that what great relationships do? They feed off each other to become better partners.
This is what I write about in all my stories. People who have flaws, but learn to overcome, trust when all else fails so they can love again, and forgive so they can know peace.
In Entangled Dreams, I tackle these and many other issues head on. So, for my version of a modern-day fairytale, read on...

About the author

Carmen DeSousa is an internationally bestselling author with twenty-eight novels and short stories to her name. Her Creatus series, a paranormal romantic suspense, has achieved USA Today Indie Romance Bestselling status.
Drawing inspiration from her love of the outdoors, Carmen has hiked, kayaked, and dined across the U.S. to bring vivid, authentic settings to her stories. Beyond the tangible locations, her writing delves deeply into the human experience, always striving to lead her characters to the happily ever after that seems just out of reach.
Like many authors, Carmen’s journey to a full-time writing career began with her love of reading. Books provided an escape during her challenging childhood, offering solace and adventure when life was difficult. Writing soon became her therapeutic outlet, allowing her to craft hope for her protagonists and, when necessary, to eliminate her antagonists—legally, of course.
Currently, Carmen resides in "The Heart of Arizona" with her husband of thirty-four years and their spoiled rescue cat, a cross-eyed Russian Blue who is simply too adorable for words.
Carmen and her husband are adventurers at heart, always seeking new experiences. They’ve lived across the U.S., from Cocoa Beach and Tampa Bay in Florida to Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Bullhead City, and California’s Northern Central Valley, finally settling in Arizona’s high desert. Their next adventure is always on the horizon, with travel being a constant source of inspiration. If you've read about a location in one of Carmen’s books, chances are she’s been there!
When Carmen's not writing, you’ll likely find her and her husband reading outdoors or enjoying a coffee in a cozy café. If the weather is perfect, they’re probably out kayaking or hiking, embracing the beauty of the natural world. They’re not ones for malls or movie theaters—especially since Carmen often prefers the book to the film!

- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2016Alexandra needs a well earned break. Jonathan, her live-in boyfriend, is a weasel. And then Cameron walks into her life. Cameron is a peach! Perfect in every way, he is just what Alexandra needs. Actually, he's just what every woman needs. It's a rough road. Can they make it? Jonathan needs to leave them alone. Some really intense moments. Well written, good characters. This one is a winner. Loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2014This is a great Young Adult romance novel with a tragic heroine in the tradition of Cinderella. There is an evil stepmother, a dark and hidden boyfriend, and a hopefully good and true hero. After losing her mother as a child and her father as a young woman, Alexandra Nicole (Nicky) feels stuck in her high school relationship with her live-in boyfriend Jonathan, who parties too much and is never very nice to her. She is stuck in a dead-end job when she hears her father has died, and now she has no one to turn to for comfort. When her boyfriend does not show up to pick her up after work, she dangerously enlists a ride to the beach with a stranger on a motorcycle. Thus begins a life-changing relationship with Cameron, a good man but with a few secrets from his past and present. And, as they say, the plot thickens. When she is arrested for drugs in her trunk after a routine traffic stop, Jonathan confesses his guilt, and she is left without a place to live, and Cameron steps up to help. As all the entanglements begin to unravel, it's time to make some hard life choices. Loved and identified with Nicky (Alexandra), and enjoyed the read.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2017Entangled Dreams had a decent plot and angle, however I had issues with the repetitive and immature emotional meanderings. So much so that I skimmed 40% of the book just to get to the next event. The Author is talented, but for my taste needs to tone down the frantic, neurotic emotional processing that is WAY over done.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2012Entangled Dreams by Carmen DeSousa is a romantic-suspense that strays a little bit from her normal style, but keeps with the quality that I've come to expect from her as an author.
The story follows the life of Alexandra Nicole, a seemingly Cinderella character that lost her mother at a young age, her father to alcohol, and her life to her step-mother. Since then her life has been more a nightmare than a fairytale, until the fateful night that she decides to stop caring and makes a mistake, or does she?
Where usually the suspense takes a very central role in the plot line of Carmen's stories, Entangled Dreams is a love story that has its ups and downs, but lacks the nail biting suspense that the other stories had. I don't mean this in a bad way. There were still troubles to overcome and definite question as to whether or not they could get through it as a couple, but the same element of danger didn't accompany it and that made it a slightly lighter read in my opinion. Once again, not a bad thing.
I loved this story. I loved how the characters were troubled and had a lot of issues to overcome but it didn't weigh them down. I love how it was a mistake, something against the beliefs held to in the story, that starts the whole plot going. Carmen's stories always have deeply flawed and human characters, but Entangled Dreams seems to do it even better.
I'm giving Entangled Dreams 5 out of 5 stars.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2015I enjoyed this little story of love, lust, dreams and fantasy. The author did a great job writing, the romance is riveting in that you can feel the love Cameron has for Alexandra. Worth the time and energy to read it. Not one of my all time favorites but I didn't hate it either. I'd be interested in reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2016More like stupid behavior begets stupid consequences. I'm realizing I don't like it when the heroine is under 25. You'd think this one would be smarter, but no. This one was more about an abusive relationship than suspense. Bleh.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2014Just finished reading Entangled Dreams. What a great book. I did not want to put it down. It was very intriguing.. I really enjoy all of her books. Each one is better than the last one.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2017Enjoyed the story especially since it took place in Florida. Usually just read mysteries, but enjoyed the romance/suspense. Was sad about Akexandra Nicole' s background and her piss poor life after her mom passed. Her Dad must have been a spineless man to let his second wife be so cruel and neglectful of his daughter, who looked like his first wife. Those two should have been prosecuted. That poor girl got mixed up with that slime Jonathon, since she didn't have any love or decent homelife. Was disappointed that it never said anything about that scum of an attorney mother who bought off her son. End did not have a great ending, at least she had a son and Cameron was happy to have a son.

1.0 out of 5 stars Has potential
This had a lot of great potential. I'm not religious and I don't mind reading religious books but this book with all its prays to God kind of got a little boring and repetitive.
