Warning Shot is the third book in the Nick Seven series by Tim Smith. Nick Seven threw in his CIA badge years ago, but once again, he is pulled back in the game after a surprise visit from the wife of a former colleague. Gadge was more than just a colleague to Nick; he was his mentor and a true friend who always looked out for him back in the days. So when Nick discovers that Gadge had set himself up on a dangerous self-destructive path, Nick tries his very best to save him. He enlists the help of his beautiful girlfriend and also brings on board a trusted former colleague, and together they start digging for answers that will later form part of a very complex puzzle. However, they all have no idea who they are going up against and how high the cover-ups go.
Can a former CIA agent really live a normal life? Tim Smith's Warning Shot is a story about life in the intelligence world. It is a story about the workings of the CIA, about doing what needs to be done and about high-level cover-ups. It is an adrenaline-pumping thriller that brings to life the saying, 'once a spy always a spy.' Tim Smith put together a good story full of suspense and drama, detailing the life of a former spy who thought he was done with that life but is inevitably pulled back to help a dear friend. It is a good read that will have you turning the pages non-stop, until the very end.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2014What a pleasure to read another Nick Seven book! This has all the intrigue, suspense, and romance as the others, but what I really liked about it the most was the "double climax" that Tim Smith is so good at. Just when you think the story line has run its course and the end is nigh, BAM! There's another whole half the book left, and the story takes a twist you didn't see coming. I wholeheartedly recommend this series of books.
