Memphis Rose Griffin loves teaching at Counting Stars Children's Home. The girls and staff are like family, and working here ties her to her mother, whose last wish was for Memphis to take her place as teacher. But something's missing. Now at the age of twenty-eight, her teenage dream of having her own family has all but faded. Until her pastor and the orphanage founder come with a proposal that will change her life forever. Should she become their first candidate for their new matchmaking venture? Though grim, at least her future at the orphanage is familiar and certain. Can she risk an unknown future with a man she's never met? The last thing thirty-three-year-old Mike Montgomery wants is to marry again, especially to someone he's never met. His family has other plans for him and completes the application without his permission--even changing some of his preferences to make him seem more intriguing. Can two star-crossed candidates dare to dream again?

I enjoyed reading as the love story of Mike and Memphis unfolded. It moves along at an easy and perfect pace. I liked that it wasn’t too hurried and the characters had time to get to know each other. Mike and Memphis were honest with each other and promised to continue to be honest since it’s an important foundation of a great relationship. I loved Mike’s family and the interaction with them. Also how supportive they were of Memphis and Mike. The wedding seemed to be the perfect closing moment.

I enjoy mail order bride stories, as well as, orphan ones. This one was very good especially the little girl Annie. I didn't know that this was part of Ms. Grist's Carrie Town,Texas series, since I had only just started reading them.

Mail- order brides didn't know what they were getting into, but the pastor-centered matrimonial service (H.I.M.M.) ensures the character of both parties first. It's frankly probably better than today's dating apps! I can't wait to read more of the series.

Wonderful how the Family came together to help Michael decide on getting a bride or not. It let him know he was not alone and he had plenty of support. Memphis needed a change from the orphanage she needed her own family to grow and become the woman she needed to be. Great story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romance about a young teacher encouraged to seek matrimony. Unfortunately, the prospective groom is as reluctant as she is. I enjoyed the supporting cast of characters that made this romance happen, especially the children. This was a fun read for Christmas.
