Jordan's Arrow (The Jordan of Algoran Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 8 ratings

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die . . . A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

War has come to Algoran. The Gulstaa nation is determined to expand their territory with merciless resolve. Their end goal is revenge for a past defeat — they want to conquer the Mountain Mokta and anyone else in their way.

Jordan SnowFire is now the Mokta Chieftess. She has the daunting task of stopping a conflict she never asked for. Will she seek the wisdom of God or the wisdom of her tribe? What impact will the blood of SnowFire flowing through her veins have on the way she conducts this war? How far will she go to protect her family and the Mokta people?

Meanwhile, Erica Melendez finds herself trapped in the middle of the hostilities. Tragedy forces her away from the Ullvarr village and into circumstances she never imagined when she came to this world. Can she survive long enough to be reunited with Jordan?

Loyalties are tested. Decisions are made. And Algoran will never be the same after Jordan’s Arrow finds its target.

Jordan's Arrow takes up right where we left off in Jordan's World. I loved this second story as we got a chance to know more about Jordan and her life on Algoran. The adventure and plot only thickens with each turn of the page. I love how Steadham shows the various characters, good or bad, in such interesting ways. All in all, a very good book and I can't wait for the third in the series.

“Avatar”, “Lord of the Rings” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” meet in “Jordan’s Arrow” to tell a story of how seeking an escape from your problems can become a “portal” to finding your true purpose when God and His Son become part of your story.
Jordan and Erica find this to be true for them as they become part of a primal alien world teetering on the brink of war.
The world-building in this book is really good. I personally am not a fantasy fan, but the many fantasy elements were meaningful to the unfolding of the story which helped me stay on track and interested in the development of the characters and the overall story.
I like how Jordan, in particular, finds a building relationship with her Creator in an alien world when she previously hadn’t been able to find him in her earthly struggles.
The only negative for me was that the alien creatures were very human in their thought processes and in their social structures and interactions. I think it would have been more interesting to explore how aliens might have a completely different way of valuing, thinking and developing a “worldview” than we do in our world. In other words, this story could have just as well happened on earth in many ways.
“Jordan’s Arrow” is a great read. I recommend it heartily to those looking for an escape to an alien world to gain a new perspective on life in this world.

I enthusiastically recommend Jordan’s Arrow, the second book in Allen Steadham’s Jordan of Algoran Series. It’s a thrilling read, and I expect that you, like me, won’t be able to resist the urge to read the entire book in one sitting. (The kids and work can wait!). First, let’s get the negatives out of the way: if you are reading this book for its explicitly Christian elements, then you’re likely to be disappointed because God in general and Christianity in particular play a very small part in the narrative. It seems obvious to me that God’s role will increase over the next few books, but I can’t make any promises. That said, Christian readers won’t be offended by anything in this book, and they’ll be cheered by the author’s emphasis on traditional marriage as a pre-requisite for intimacy (which is never described, or even alluded to, in any way that might offend even the most sensitive readers). There are some “magical” elements that might offend some, but if you’re that sensitive to depictions of fictional magic, then I doubt you’d be interested in speculative fiction anyway, so I don’t think this will be a problem for the vast majority of readers. Second, some of the exposition is a bit rushed, and some of the chronology can be confusing, but these are minor problems.

Now, let’s get to the good stuff! The plot raced along, and I was genuinely interested to learn the answers to the many mysteries presented along the way. I thought the world-building was superb, as I really believed that such a place could exist. (It lacked any of the absurdities or errors that plague so many fictional works in which a place acts as it does or is at it is merely to serve the plot or to be “interesting.”). As an Edgar Rice Burroughs fan, I loved the frequent use of the planet’s various languages. I thought the characters acted like real people with the attributes attributed to them would have acted in response to the circumstances presented; that is, nobody put on their plot armor or did something that made sense based solely upon events or information they would have acquired if and only if they had read to the end first. In short, it’s well-crafted. And, more importantly, fun.

If you’re looking for a great, Christian-friendly read, then you’ll love Jordan’s Arrow.

An enjoyable book although not really my type of book. I haven't read the first book although I found it to be well written and well thought out. The world building and the setting was primitive and yet in some ways it was very advanced. The book is fast paced and compelling and so I kept reading. It is a book that many will enjoy nd although it was not my type of book, I have to admit that it was good.

After the events that took place years ago, Jordan has grown up to be a beautiful woman, wife, mother and chieftess.
When the Gustaa nation decides to wage war against Mountain Mokta to avenge a defeat they faced many years ago, it is up to Jordan Snowfire to save them.
With a responsibility she wasn't ready for yet, will she trust the right people to be by her side at this hour of need?

Jordan's Arrow is the sequel to Allen Steadham's fantasy novel, Jordan's World.
There has been a lot of improvement in the story of this book compared to the first one.
Jordan is more mature and wise, the actual storyline including her family is a hundred times more powerful and the action in this book is more prominent.
We see a gradual character development within her and how she has to learn to balance family and her duties.
Arrow, Jordan's son is facing problems of his own because he is different and still being a child he has to deal with a lot more than a child his age.
There is a lot more great content in this book and the story is written with more depth, and imagination.
My one issue is there were parts that could have been cut out or written concisely because it makes you lose concentration. (Similar to what I felt in the first book.)
This book also ends on a great cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to read the next in the series.
