On a trip to the Middle East, Layla Rose Wallace and her Saudi boyfriend are kidnapped and brought to Tehran. While her boyfriend's ransom is paid, Layla is left behind to rot in prison, until an unexpected savior in the guise of a very powerful Iranian officer frees her from jail.
Cyrus Hassani, assistant to the deputy director of Iran's secretive organization has served his country well. A Mossad mole, he now has two missions: keep feeding intel to Mossad and free Layla Wallace from rape and torture before she becomes a pawn in a dangerous nuclear race.
Readers of the thriller genre will like this story because it has so many bated-breath moments. The author excels at building the tension, winding it tightly so that when the protagonists overcome the hurdle, one's bated breath is replaced with a sigh of relief. The research done for this novel is exemplary, as seen in the technical explanations on Iran's nuclear program. There is a reason the technical details have to be written - in order for the reader to understand the need for a Mossad spy within the Iranian secretive organization - but it does not detract from the story. In fact, the way the novel was written is as though the author has experienced the anxiety of being chased by those who want to kill the protagonists.
This is definitely an exciting and enjoyable read!

    I have purchased all three books in the series and am waiting for my kindle download of the 4th. Having to wait until February 1st for book 4 is just about doing me in.
    You can't read the first in the series and stop. The story is filled with nonstop adventure and yes, romance.
    It is so well done incorporating events pulled from the present and weaving in stories from the past. The characters created feel so real that you expect to hear of them on the news.
    You won't regret purchasing one of Belle Ami's books in the series, but you will regret not reading the entire series.

The world-spanning story is non-stop with evil characters easy to despise and good guys not hard to like. There is violence and it is realistically described and there is explicitly described sex. A principal reason for the story to feel so realistic is that it is obvious that it was well researched when discussing diplomacy, espionage, local environment, and culture. We get a better sense of “being there” than most action-adventure-romance novels. It has a satisfying ending making us look forward to the next story.

The only problem I had was reading before going to bed, because I could not put this book down! The story, set in Iran and Israel, is so very real, I fear I could read about the ‘plot’ any day now in the paper. But the romance….yikes; sizzling hot (and I do mean sizzling as in sexy; very!).
