The Lady Justice series always delivers a satisfying reader experience. I like to turn to my collection of the series when I want to clear my head and be with some characters I can relate to – senior citizens with active analytical minds and no fear.

This book is more a collection of mini-adventures, loosely linked to culminate in a social statement on civic politics. Well crafted and well told, as usual. I found the courtroom scenes captivating and I liked the reference to the TV series, “Bull”, one of my favourites.

Although I wouldn’t rate it one of Thornhill’s best in the series, it definitely held my attention to the end.

I wanted more background on the main character. Some of the facts didn’t make sense to me. There was very little of the main character’s background and what there was didn’t make sense to me. It was like a couple of individual short stories that ended with a history lesson. Not someone I would probably read again although others might find this style to their liking.

This story starts with a runaway cat. The protagonist Walt sees a man chasing a cat, but the cat scoots under a neighbor's porch and the man returns to his house empty handed. Walt manages to draw the cat out and sees his feet are painted blue. This leads to finding that the man who chased the cat is involved in dog-vs-cat fights where people bet on which cat dies first. Then the story takes a turn, considering the problems of landlords and tenants in Kansas City, MO. There is now a tenant bill of rights, passed by town council and signed into law by the mayor, that makes it illegal to refuse rental housing to anyone with evictions and convictions in their part. This is the first of these stories I have read where there is a cliffhanger at the end. Too bad; I really want to know what happened.

I have read/listened to all the books in this series and loved them. This book was good just not out of the park great for me. First off it seems much shorter than the others and leaves you hanging which is something I hate in books. I will say that as always 5 stars for George Kuch for a great job with the narration of this story. I look forward to more in this series and hope that the magic comes back.

I must say Imagination a big fan of the Lady Justice books and usually rate them a well deserved 5 stars but this Lady Justice was not among my favorites. It was an okay read but not as impacting as many of the other books. Also I'm not a fan of cliffhangers.

... but you don't have to sit on it."
Book number 40 in Robert Thornhill's always excellent series about the retired realtor who became a cop the, after retiring, continued as a PI. With George Kuch perfectly becoming the voice of Walt Williams narrating the often comical experiences of himself and his extended family of relatives, tenants and friends, he combines entertainment with an issue to ponder.

If you have not yet read any from this series, you have a real treat in store. If you've already met Walt Williams well, you won't want to miss this one. Good book, great series. Recommended
