About the author

Lynn Veevers is originally from Washington State. With her mother being from Christchurch, New Zealand and her father being a well-traveled retired Navy Chief, Lynn has always had a fascination with different cultures around the world. An avid reader, she prefers books that take her to a place she's never been and teach her something new at the same time. The Young Adult Genre is her absolute favorite to read, so it comes as no surprise that it is also her favorite to write.
Today Lynn lives with her husband and kids in Southeast Oklahoma. Her young adult and adolescent children are supportive and avid beta readers of her work and give her a straight forward and honest point of view about how authentic her characters' voices and personalities are for their age group. What better reference than someone close to the same age as the main characters. Her kids always have and always will be her greatest inspiration.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2018I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Veevers is a talent to watch!
I was immediately enamored to Chloe, our heroine, a Cogitari Adept with an infamous lineage. Chloe is an outcast, and with the help of her unlikely friends, she must unravel a mystery that threatens the world of magic, and save her own life!
Veveers does a fantastic job of character and world development that brought me in and held me fast as I turned the pages. I found this to be a unique and compelling story with heroes I could really get behind, and a satisfying ending that had me on the edge of my seat, (I did not see it coming).
The descriptions and writing was quite vivid, and gave me a clear mental image of the school and people involved, well done!
I would recommend this title not just to Rowling fans, but anyone interested in a family-friendly tale!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2018Chloe Shipton & the Quill of Lipton LeFay is a very well written book by Lynn Veevers. This book reminded me a little bit of Harry Potter but had a different feel to it. Yes it was set in a boarding school of sorts that teaches children how to use their magical gifts, but in this case the children were divided based on their gifts. Just like in your average high school however, they form cliques and apparently even these kids are not above bullying. As I said, the fact it was a boarding school teaching children how to use their gifts, was the connection to Harry Potter, but when I read it, it just had a completely different feel, probably because for a good part of the book our main character was spiritually entrapped, meaning she was basically a ghost.
So let's talk about Chloe, oh man did I like her! She is your somewhat typical outcast in school who thankfully found the one friend in school that she can rely on no matter what! Little did she know when actually had a few more friends than she thought! There are some really great characters besides Chloe in this book and I really enjoyed the character development the author did, especially the transformation Chloe was pretty much forced to go through due to her ordeal!
The plot in this book was very well developed and I really enjoyed it. It is your "whose done it" sort of mystery and it really had me going for a long time, who am I kidding I didn't figure it out and pretty much had it explained to me all the way, well all but one part really. There are some great twists in there that tied it nicely with some well known magicians of old which I also found put a nice spin on this story.
I really say I enjoyed this book a lot and am hoping that the author may turn this into a series. I really enjoyed the main characters who had a "real" feel to them and I would like to read more about them in the future!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2018Young Chloe faces evil at her school of magic. Being separated from her body is a horrible fate. One her friends seek to save her from. Along with magic, dragons, master sorcerer's they uncover a plot that threatens not only the magic community, but normal humans. An exciting read. I enjoyed this immensely.
