Coral McCallum lives in Gourock, a small town on the west coast of Scotland with her family and her beloved cats.

A regular blogger, she began publishing short stories via her blog page and expanded her writing career from there.

Stronger Within, her debut novel and the first in the Silver Lake series, was published in 2015. Over the next few years she continued the series with Impossible Depths, Bonded Souls and Shattered Hearts before concluding the series with

Long Shadows in February 2021.

Coral has also published standalone novel, Ellen, following the career of fictitious band After Life.

In November 2022, Coral published her seventh novel, Riley, a standalone novel following the challenges that Riley Johnston faces as she launches her music career with the support of some familiar faces from the Silver Lake series.

Beginnings, Coral's first poetry anthology was published in February 2024.

Coral also writes music reviews for her blog page The525ToGlasgow , where she reviews the live shows she attends on a regular basis. A keen amateur photographer, her live reviews include her own concert photos.

    A rock star life and family. Can the two work side-by-side?

    This was the complex story of Jake and Lori, a star couple with kids. It just seemed like their whole life revolved around those kids.

    The writing was pretty good, but the story had a consistent lag. I found life with the kids to be monotonous. I couldn’t really get into it as much as I wanted to as I expected the reading to be more titillating than it was.

    Wow! What an emotional roller-coaster this book proved to be. Another stunning read from Ms McCallum who continues to grow in strength with each book she pens. With an increasing confidence, Shattered Hearts contains more grit than the previous novels but maintains Coral's wonderfully descriptive trait of bringing a story to life whilst successfully allowing us to crawl inside the heads of her leading characters and feel their emotions.

    It was obvious from reading the book’s synopsis that we were going to loose a significant player and I wrongly assumed that it would be an older character and was really surprised when the loss was revealed…..and yes, you are going to need a box of tissues on more than one occasion! In true Silver Lake style, the family pulls together to overcome the loss and desolation and finds a way to move forward.

    The narrative is really enhanced by the beautifully written characters and antics of Lori and Jake’s young family, they are absolutely delightful and quite a handful. But very soon comes total devastation and betrayal and you can’t help but feel the pain experienced by those involved.

    Coral writes from the heart, it feels genuine and is a major reason why you become so invested in the characters within her books. This one brings a smattering of new individuals, not all of whom I liked (no spoilers here)! There were times in this book that I wanted to knock Jake's head off his shoulders, I was almost shouting at my Kindle (definitely shaking my head in despair). However, you really see and understand his vulnerabilities in this one.

    Lori is an amazing character; she continues to reveal her hidden depths and strengths on the outside while inside she is breaking. It’s great to see such a quietly powerful and strong female protagonist who stands by her moral values.

    This is definitely one of those books that I just didn’t want to finish and I can highly recommend it, but read the series in order to get the absolute best from this progressive story. Whilst the thought of the next one being the last in the Silver Lake series is a painful realisation that all good things must come to an end, I can’t wait to see where the final book will take us. Ms McCallum has set up so many possibilities within Shattered Hearts…..it’s going to seem like a long and anxious wait until 2021 and the conclusion of this fabulous series.

    Lori and Jake, this couple have grabbed me and fascinated me from the first moment I met them. In this chapter of their lives, we go from the incredible highs of success, family and friends to the devastating lows of loss, betrayal and uncertainty. It has old characters, new characters, characters you love, and, those you love to hate. Coral has made this amazing world that draws you in, holds you captivated and allows you to live everything right along side the characters with the vivid pictures her incredible writing creates. In my opinion, this is the best instalment yet but definitely have the tissues at the ready. Five stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

    Reading this was like catching up with old friends I hadn't seen in a while. I absolutely loved finding out what they had been up to and sharing in their lives again. It's called Shattered Hearts for a good reason though and I think I went through every emotion possible so be prepared! Cannot wait for the story to continue in the next instalment as I am totally hooked
